With 2 years of free maintenance, a great warranty and most likely reliable forever I'd say the Acura is the way to go. I came from a 10th Gen Civic Touring and it left me very impressed but wanting more. This is the solution for me.
Um no, Acura/Honda stop using the ultra reliable K/B series engines. Instead they now use much smaller displacement engines coupled with a small turbo. The newer generation Civics historically are some of the worst Honda's ever made in terms of reliability. The newer engines have overheating, fuel/oil separation issues, and are absolute pieces of garbage. You will be very lucky to get 100,000 miles without having to replace your cooked turbocharger.
I say if you have no money issues at all get the highest trim..the resale value will always be there. If you do have money issues I'd go with the most savings, which probably means the Sport Touring Hatch.
Alex, been watching your vids for years, but for some reason never subbed. Until this moment 9:35 thanks for spreading the truth about reverse gear placement.
Probably two kinds of buyers for this car. 1) the "fan boys" who want a serious performance car that comes with the 2.0 liter turbo. They will be disappointed by this and will wait to see if Acura offers a higher performance version later on. 2) the more mature audience who wants something nicer than the Civic, yet retains the Civic's practicality, is fun to drive and offers Acura/Honda reliability and fuel economy. They will be just fine. I would love to see pop-up headlights on this, but alas............
Doesn't look like it's going to make it over to the UK which is sad. Although it does mean I'm not going to get tangled up in my decisionmaking over getting a Mazda3 Saloon.
What's the ADM going to be on this? And does Honda/Acura actually have enough chips to produce this to meet the demand? I'm going to say no, which is only going to increase the crazy ADMs we're seeing in the Civic.

@@stephenmccabe9507 Maybe Acura is testing the waters with the Integra comeback and the cheapest route is using the CVT and if sales dip a little in the mid-cycle refresh, they’ll switch to DCT to entice more buyers and Civic differentiation, as I assume switching transmissions isn’t too much of a development effort.
Strange…Alex tested Civic Hatch 0-60 in 6.6 faster than higher HP Civic Si and Most likely Integra as well. I’m wondering if the Civic Hatch is more fun to drive than the Integra? Also the Integra has a more compliant ride than the Si but I wonder how it compares with Civic Hatch? If it’s around the same then the only reason to get the Integra would be for sound deadening? Based on videos I think I like the Civic Hatch interior better and you can get real leather too.
Acura has to add SH-AWD! I understand they want you to get the next model up to get it, TLX, but I'm pretty sure Toyota is even giving Corolla AWD now. Honda/Acura should follow & give it as an option in Civic & be nice to make it standard in ALL Acuras!! At least they could do is add it to the Integra Type S!! @@DJPleasureSeekingMissle also the Mazda has 360 cam (which this doesn’t) , it’s quicker, the interior is MUCH BETTER.. this integra is nothing but a civic interior
I keep seeing this a lot, but I really don't think that would work. For one, sticking an engine that's only available in the Accord wouldn't be representative of what the Integra was and is: a luxury Civic. Also, they would have had to extend the front hood to accommodate this powertrain, increasing development costs. They purposefully cost cut in a few places to keep the price down.
Keep smoking whatever that is. 200 horsepower is about what competitors also offer in their base trim levels. It gives quite adequate performance for the average Integra buyer who isn't looking for a performance car. The hotter variant(s) will come along later.
In a day and age when the highly talked about Hyundai/Kia group are discontinuing their hatchbacks, the hatchback factor makes the Integra distinctive. Not sure what Hyundai/Kia was thinking when they axed the Elantra GT and Forte5, and one also has to wonder why the G70 is trunked when it could've been a liftback like the Stinger.
Funny you mention the G70. I realize the new Integra's front end is reminiscent of the G70's, except the Genesis has a much bigger grill (and polished, too).
Lyxury buyers have rarely bought hatchbacks, so I underatand that decision. Discontinuing the other two right at the same time moat other companies were reintroducing hatches in the US does seem strange, but they didn't sell very well. We have an Elantra GT and are very fond of it, so were especially unhappy we can't replace it with a newer model.
If I had to guess, people went for the maual as at cvt has no place in an Acura product. Additionally, they are forcing people to go with the manual if they want the LSD. Huge mistake. There should be a DCT or 10 speed automatic in this vehicle. The LSD should be included on more trims. Finally, there should have been more power or a different engine.

Up til now I had honed in the Hyundai Santa Fe or Tucson, now you've muddied the waters on me.Thanks Alex!

@@sspringss2727 Actually, Mazdas reliability (per Consumer Reports) is right up there with Toyota and Lexus, and better than Honda. That's what you get when you've been using the same engines and transmissions forever and have thoroughly debugged them. However, the Maxda also has a cramped rear seat, dated infotainment, poor gas mileage, and a torsion beam rear suspension as negatives. The power, styling, and nice interior materials are not enough to make up for such dated mechanicals, however reliable they may be.
The car is largely what I thought it would be. However, I am surprised they didn't opt for rhe 8 spd DCT from the ILX to give this car a bit more differentiation from a civic SI. As it stands, I am not sure this thing is worth the premium over a loaded civic sport hatch or SI.
Engineering a powertrain that doesn't currently exist would have cost them a lot more than using the CVT. I agree the DCT would have been preferable, but making it for just the Integra would have been asking a lot.
@@markmiller3279 I can't disagree that it would be more costly, but Acura needs a defining characteristic as Honda models are nicer places to be. DCT and SH-awd are cheaper than different engine options.

I know this maybe "old school" or maybe it's a complete omission..... But where the heck is the rear windshield wiper? Don't sportbacks or liftbacks usually have a rear windshield wiper?
What are your thoughts with the new Integra vs the outgoing ilx?
A big improvement over the ILX in terms of the interior and driving dynamics, but the Integra still leaves room for improvement.
@@user-fx6tp3gs8s So was the ILX.
Ask yourself this. Will a new Mercedes, Audi or BMW still be driving down the road in 20 years?
@@Anonymous______________ ^this. The 1.5t L series engine really makes me enjoy the NA 2.4 K motor I have in my ILX even more now.
In which I actually plan to drive it for years well over 200k with proper maintenance
My Civic touring had 120k and wasn’t in the shop once.
How does this compare to the Civic Hatchback Sport Touring? Is the additional $5K for Aspec tech package worth the badge?
More insulation
Pop-ups don't meet pedestrian safety laws in much of the world, so you're unlikely to ever see them.
@@markmiller3279 - thanks for the info Mark. I figured there was a good reason they disappeared.
Recession is coming, interest rates will be high, so demand will drop. Cash buyers will score.
I'm waiting for the type S
Might be the last chance to buy a manual stick shift. From here on out nothing but single speed transmissions hooked up to your e-motor. ☹️
It won’t be look at what Nissan and Toyota are doing
a usable little car thats not a little car, if it was me i would go with the elantra N with the manual or veloster N if were going with that trunk thing. i compare things more on continents than brand by brand.
I definitely would go for the Integra manual and more leg room with the bigger trunk.front wheel drive is fine with me, as 4 wheel drive is extra maintenance.
Has a baby Audi sportback vibe going on. But, I'm not convinced that the 1.5 is the right engine. 2.0 would be more in keeping with competition.
This. Put the 2.0T in here. That might be saved for the type s but I doubt there will be an engine change aside from tuning.
I think I dont mind the 1.5 fuel economy. Especially when gas prices are $5 a gallon.
I like it more now than a few months ago, now is one of my favorite car
The only semi competition in the US is the GLI/GTI .... How choose vs those Alex
I really have loved Acura as I have one, but CVT in everything but the top trims for me equals no sale.
Same. My old ILX had that 8 speed, which is prob much better than this.
@@Sleepyboiwonder that 8 speed DCT is a fantastic transmission
@@stephenmccabe9507 Maybe Acura is testing the waters with the Integra comeback and the cheapest route is using the CVT and if sales dip a little in the mid-cycle refresh, they’ll switch to DCT to entice more buyers and Civic differentiation, as I assume switching transmissions isn’t too much of a development effort.
@@yelloandy 😱 totally possible! Would be interesting. Guess we’ll wait and see.

I can't believe you think this looks better than the TLX! There is NO comparison between the TLX Aspec and this car!
An Integra Reborn
No rear wiper?
Clever audio track paused at 7:58 not lost on me.
I get you are going to get leather over the cloth seats Type R but come on Acura & also give it SH-AWD!!!
I wish the manual was offered in lower trim levels, as it’s harder to obtain at closer to $40k after destination especially on a social work salary 😂
I make good money, and even I decided 37K for a civic is too much. The car is poorly priced.
Love this and the Mazda3 but the Mazda has the way better looking front along with no rear vents anyways so I'd probably still lean there.
Ha ha Alex. Guess I’m an evil monster in my GTI. 😀
Same with my Mazda 6. I actually prefer reverse over to the left of 1st. It's quicker and more convenient. Plus, as long as there's a lockout, then you probably won't accidentally select reverse when you meant to select 1st.
I would buy it. Exactly similar to the one in this video (color combinations, and everything else). Checking to see if I can sell my organ first.
Would that organ be a kidney?
I really didn’t like the for leather in my base RDX by I do like foe leather for leather in my Toyota 4Runner
it just fees softer and more comfortable.
For the price, kind of hard to decide between this or a 2.0T Accord... hnnnnnnnng
It's not a bad car, but I think Acura missed a lot of marks on this one.
The 200 hp 1.5T engine is acceptable but the CVT is a big letdown. I owned a 2015 Fit, the CVT broke down at 24,000 miles.
I own a 19 civic with cvt and its going strong to this day. The cvt of your car is nowhere near the same as the one currently being used.
@@sspringss2727 I know, my case is just a small sample. The one paired to the turbo engine is definitely tuned differently. What’s the odds it happens to your car as well. But people told me then that Honda’s CVT was “special”, it would never break. Well, lesson learned. I suggest you change the transmission fluid every two years. That may keep it working longer.

Much more efficient, much roomier back seat, independent rear suspension, more modern infotainment. I'm sure there are more, but those come to mind. The Mazda is more powerful, and maybe a better value, but I can't think of anything else it does better.

Where are the interior/exterior dimension comparisons that alex is known for!? Curious to see how passenger volume compares to tlx
When he actually gets to take the car home, I'm sure we'll be seeing that.
This isn't a full review.
would be nice with Type S with Accord 2.0T’s
One important improvement would be the optional 2.0L turbocharged,10 speed automatic transmission from the Accord.
No guarantee it would fit in an engine bay designed for smaller powertrains.
I loved my 94 GSR in teal green. I think this new version should have been closer to 250hp for the base maybe 300hp for a type S.
Keep smoking whatever that is. 200 horsepower is about what competitors also offer in their base trim levels. It gives quite adequate performance for the average Integra buyer who isn't looking for a performance car. The hotter variant(s) will come along later.
@@markmiller3279 And that's why Acura is behind everyone else.
Does the manual have hill assist?
Yes it does
Is this going to run on regular gas?
Ha ha
Yup. It takes regular gas but premium is recommended.
I'd be curious if Alex would take this over a gussied up Mazda 3.
I think it would be perfect at like 34k at the most.
The Mazda 3 Turbo is also a close competitor. I'd lean that way.
Nice car, but the cramped rear seat really bugs me. The dated infotainment and the even more dated transmission (and what it does to the MPG) are unappealing, too. Really do like the interior, though.
What part of Texas are you in? Looks like my "neighborhood". Also, is Brian your son?
I’m guessing around Bandera.

45,000 in Canada for the aspec with tech package.
Honda need to step up there game 1.5 turbo that sucks.
not a fan of the shaky camera. the tripod was doing a better job
The deal breaker is the ROAD NOISE!!!
Awesome review. Gotta drive it, but the mileage figures of the CVT are a great reason to take it for a test drive. I want something to travel cross country in, and I have two good size dogs who need backseat room. The mileage and cargo capacity, along with a great look, are pulling me in this direction. Up til now I had honed in the Hyundai Santa Fe or Tucson, now you've muddied the waters on me.Thanks Alex!
I’d go GLI or GTI
I’ll take the Canadian spec Civic SI at the equivalent Canadian price(lower than the lower spec US car!?), with a lift back. Not available? I’ll pass then.
I don't see a reason to choose Integra over Mazda3 2.5 turbo 6AT awd other than trunk capacity.
Mazdas reliability, the transmission is old, the road noise and the looks. Not everyone is a speed demon.
What about Genesis? Personally I'd take this over the BMW, Mercedes or Lexus (and even Infiniti).
I wish they would make a Legend again, with real leather.
I'm confused, doesn't this compete with the Lexus IS?
Thr IS is more expensive
IS is RWD, longitudinal engine. Different league. This is more similar to UX than to IS.
