Assertion: I opted to keep Russ on the team because he does provide good upside for the contract he’s on and does provide a good deal of impact when he was on the floor during the regular season. I’m not sure bones is ready to be a key rotational piece but that’s why keeping Russ on a short leash next season is a good thing. Switching out Plumlee and Theis for Drummond & pushing Kai for some potential minutes has to do with rebounding and youth + size. The trade for Collins is simple, a versatile and athletic 6’9” PF is exactly what the team needs so that Kawhi won’t have to be the bruiser down low. Take some of the strain off of his body, and signing Kelly Oubre is provide insurance off of the bench at the wing position and for the inevitable Kawhi load management games. Lonnie Walker is also just another high level scorer who can space the floor well and give some good energy, the man could also create his own offense which is something Amir Coffey CAN’T do. I also HEAVILY advise the team to re-sign RoCo because his ability to steal the ball and provide defensive impact was huge for this team in the minutes he played last season and the small sample size this year. He can also play as a small ball 5.

So yeah I understood this offseason pretty well. The one thing is John Collins. I don’t hate the fit I just don’t think you can get him for those couple of dudes. Thoughts?

@@_AVC_ Thank you, I’ll definitely check that out sometime. I love talking about basketball regardless of the topic, as for the John Collins debacle, I simply just believe that Utah is incentivized to take that deal due to PJ Tucker’s expiring deal and obtaining two players that would easily crack their rotation as solid high impact players (Mann and Coffey are better than THT, Dunn, and Sensabaugh). Plus, the Jazz only got Collins for a second round pick and Rudy Gay’s contract.
@@xdarkxskullzx I can see that logic. I personally think they would probably just keep Collins in that instance. He was pretty solid for them this year, and unless they get someone to help them out a bit more in the future I just don’t know why they would be incentivize to do so. But who knows maybe they do just value the cap flexibility.
@@_AVC_ I think it’s because they want to play Lauri at the 4 and Walker Kessler at the 5, so having Collins in the rotation kind of hinders their ability to do so. They’re a selling team at the moment too in a market of buyers, so I don’t know. I just think if the Clippers are looking to obtain a significant improvement, that’s where they should at least try.

I just can’t see them tearing it down. It might be worth the conversation internally, but I just don’t think you’ll get a great return by the end so you might as well give it 1 more go.

@@_AVC_ yea kinda but that isn’t the sole reason . I think coruso would probably be a better fit here , a guy that’s known for his hustle and defense and shot the 3 at a 41% clip . The bulls for a multitude of reasons should trade him while they can because he has only 1 year left . And they’re in no position to contend (unfortunately, coming from a pacers/Chicago fan)
Kelly oubre , Coruso , And Kai jones could really turn this team around defensively and athletically which is desperately what this team needs … especially if Kai can shoot the 3 ball consistently around the 35% mark that’s maybe wishful thinking tho

@@_AVC_ pass on Bogdan…as we can see with these playoffs, defense matters and giving away, arguably, our best point of attack defender outside of a HEALTHY Kawhi (which is a rarity in itself) for some offense would be a negative in my book
@@sysda1 I can totally understand that logic. I think my perspective on it is it’ll make the lives of your stars easier while still giving you the ability to switch on defense which is the best type of defense you can have.
@@_AVC_ don’t know how it makes the lives of the stars easier when Terance is the best point of attack defender on the team since Kawhi is always hurt…getting Bogdan would put more pressure on them to play defense against the other teams best guys , therefore leaving them with expended energy on the offensive side…Bogdan is just known as a good scorer…we already have 3 guys who can get their points in Kawhi, pg, and harden…………….lol
@@sysda1 The lols are killing me 😂. So having an extra dynamic shooter on the team is how we are making their lives easier. So really I’m trying to make their offensive lives easier. That extra space that’s gained is extremely valuable, and then you top it off with the fact that he can put the ball on the floor and keep the ball moving and you got a nice dynamic in that first 5. Hopefully they get a little more creative with their sets than last season but if they don’t you at least have the space.
And then again I think if you have the ability to switch I wouldn’t be too concerned with a “point of attack defender”. I quoted it because it’s not a term I’ve personally used/seen in the league but I know what you mean by it. If they really are worried about isolation defense and need a game winning stop I’ll take PG/Kawhi otherwise you just switch everything you can and you should shut down a lot of stuff.

@@marciaaaron6044 Correct. The Clippers are already in Luxury tax though. Meaning they can only sign their own players (bird rights) or they can sign guys from other teams for minimum contracts only. It’s how the NBA tries to keep players in the same place.
I'm pretty sure per the new CBA if we're above the 2nd apron which we are, we can't package players together to trade for a higher salary player. We have to trace down.
I honestly had no idea so I just went and read the rules haha. So you were pretty close, you apparently “Can’t combine outgoing salaries.” So basically what you said except the higher salary part. It’s even more blunt haha.
Good news for the trade in the video is we waited to resign everyone until afterwards so in theory we could still do it (presuming the cap holds don’t kill us haha). Fanspo gotta tell me these things 😂.

Sign and trade PG to the lakers for Russell Rui Reeves and a first or two. Those first could be very valuable. Trade Kawhi to the warriors for CP3s expiring along with trayce Brandon and moody plus picks. Let harden walk. Trade Powell to Orlando for Cole Anthony and picks. Create cap space for next year along with trade assets get picks they desperately need and young talent. This team should be fast athletic and fun not old and broken

Has every teams the same amount of cap space if they had no player under contract? Or is it based on revenue for example the Lakers generate more revenue than the great Wizards 😂 , so they have more cap space.

@@PacersEnjoyer Lol totally fine. I mean it’s just taking the total salary on the team for the ‘24-25 season and subtracting that from the current tax lines n stuff. Like I think the lottery tax threshold this year is $165 million. So if a team has $100 million already committed for next year then they are $65 million below the luxury tax.
Same standard applies to the aprons. Hopefully that makes some sense! If not I can try to explain it better!
