@_AVC_ I think this definitely makes sense for the Lakers. DFS is a good defender that hardly makes mistakes defensively. AD is gonna love him, finally having some help defensively. I agree, this shouldn't be all trade for the Lakers because they shouldn't expect DFS to be an elite role player cause he's not gonna get you self-made buckets while also playing good defense. Play him in his role, and he'll be great at it, anymore and you're asking too much from DFS

@@rileymcphee9429 Oh yeah I know the stats are 👎🏼. My thought is that if he was going to have any success in the NBA at this point it was gonna be an athletic, slasher, distributor type. John Wall type I guess. So he gets to Portland and they put him with a bunch of other ball dominant players. No shooting wings. Then finally a center that sits at the FT line the whole game 😂. That just isn’t what is gonna help him ya know? One of the few things he succeeded at last year was P&R playmaking and scoring. It was mainly with Duop as well. But yeah I would LOVE to be his coach. Just gotta put him in a system w/ teammates that gives him a chance.

@@Frank-hv7xj In all honesty there isn’t much of a difference in responsibility for 2-4 in the NBA. It’s pretty interchangeable. What tends to matter is what they are asked to do.

@_AVC_ agreed. Missi has been a very pleasant suprise. He's beeb getting more consistent. But when he's not on the floor the center situation does look worrying. Theis is inconsistent but not bad necessarily. Just not an ideal 2nd center option at all

@_AVC_ Yeah, that's what I mean. Their size isn't a big issue, but what they do is a conundrum. Because 3 of them, Zion, Ingram, and even Trey, to an extent, are more so scorers than anything else. Herb is the only guy imo that does fit with any of those guys because he does the small nitty gritty and doesn't really need the ball. Trey is a good defender. Zion and Ingram are not. All 4 aren't great rebounders like that. What they're being asked is exactly the problem because what they're being asked to do is too similar, and tbh how Zion and Ingram score is too similar too and with a bad roster construction doesn't help with lack of spacing

@@_AVC_ They should be patient and wait until the offseason to make a bigger consolidation move. Someone that complements their team, can shoot and fits with their timeline (Booker, Fox, Monk, Trae, Lamelo type of players). Jimmy is not that. When you go for just pure talent without thinking about fitting the pieces you end up like the Kings. Talented but not winning and a short window to make it work.

@@javiernoris3496 Funny enough I really think the Kings is more so a strategy issue. That and shooters can’t shoot right now 😅. But yeah no I agree with that logic for sure. Part of my motivation to move some of the younger players now is based off of there being more time on contracts and wanting to clear the runway for other players. Definitely don’t do it just to do it, but I think Butler will make them better. Again though, not sold it’s worth trading Brooks. No clue the impact he has internally for this team and that matters a lot with a young group.
