I haven't actually heard anyone talk about a paper Mario theme. It could still be 2D but with a paper Mario look. There could be new enemies and items. I would like this in Mario maker 3.
I honestly feel the same way but about galaxy cause I feel like galaxy is so underrated and honestly watching Mario fight a 2D baby piranha or maybe the inclusion of launch stars and even some of the power ups from galaxy would be honestly a dream come true

Custom colorization of levels is what I want the most. Being able to change the colors of blocks, the ground, the background, semi solids, enemies & everything else. I know that ain't ever going to happen though...
Another thing that is worth mentioning is course themes. We have 10 in SMM2, 4 of which were new so for SMM3, perhaps 4 new ones. Beach, Mountain, Volcano, and Tower are my top picks. Night Themes would be water currents for the Beach Theme, In the mountain theme, The screen would scroll lock (Like SMB1). In the volcano theme, lava rocks would rain down (like in NSMBW), and the Tower theme would have high gravity. (Basically the opposite of the the Night Sky Theme).

I think you should be allowed to enable differences between characters for super worlds. Like Luigi jumping higher, Toad running faster and Toadette falling slower or something
I doubt that they’ll include the style of Mario Land into the games, but I do see things like the enemies from that game being implemented, adding more diversity with the enemy selection for people’s courses.
Here's my top 5 things I'd like to see. 5. Place able liquids such as poison and water or lava with also liquid geysers 4. Beach theme and Mountain theme. I see the mountain at night as the volcano theme. 3. Hammer bro suit but for most themes. 2. Key pipes and key track enemies. Since you can't place keys on enemies on tracks I see that as a great fit. Key pipes can save space and time. 1. Secret exits. This would be amazing for true endings and such, many people love their story levels or difficulty levels.
Honestly I would just prefer more items and a SMO style. I personally really enjoy kaizo and speedrun levels and I think the electricity things and cappy would make those previously mentioned levels much better.

I like the way your thinking but in my opinion you're going for way to many exclusive enemies and certain course parts I'm thinking they'll do more enemies and course parts implementable with less of a hassle since lots of things you want were very built around the games they stared in and at that point less game styles are compatible which isn't n really bad but also we don't want the styles to be so completely separate and complicated its overwhelming also I don't think an smb2 style is likely they'll probably just keep the smb2 mushroom also sadly super Mario land would never make it but super Mario land 2 has a chance the most likely style would be odyssey this would also be more worth while since it'd much more ground breaking and advertisable to the masses and if I did have to hope for any game style other than odyssey I'd say galaxy it'd work surprisingly well in a 2D scenario also if odyssey 2 is a thing I'd love to see that as a style over the original, any i want to focus on Odyssey! Odyssey could work well with a slightly simplified moveset most important stuff is their like diving, cappy stuff, rolling, triple jumping, etc but less important stuff I can definitely see being left out sad thing is I love the ground pound jump but something like that could easily be classified as unimportant if we have the back flip or side flip also Nintendo please leave the ground pound jump in if possible cause I got done 100% odyssey recently and going back to Mario maker it felt so unnatural not being able to do it ground pound jumps are my bread and butter also of course capturing we should have basic enemies like goombas but also as many of the random new captures in Odyssey as possible this provides so much! Uproots work perfect in 2D glideon would too! Certain uncapturable enemies should show up too make sure the capture mechanic isn't that broken also I'd love to see a new clear condition of don't capture anything! Also those spoons work perfect in 2D and yoshi would be a great capture too! I'd love to see 2D sections return basically the smb1 style built miniaturely into this new style go through a pipe to enter a 2D section although its all 2D now... Anyway I would love the ability to put our own rally text and have him say things for the player doing whatever also we should be able to make kingdoms not levels you can make a single kingdom that's stand alone or a full game of kingdoms connected via an odyssey like selection map all the themes could be based off different kingdoms for instance ground could be cascade, ghost house could be cap, castle could be bowser's kingdom, the sky could be the cloud kingdom, underwater could be lake jungle could be lost there are so many possibilities with all these themes also remember how I mentioned different kingdoms and not levels well we can have loads of moons we name ourselves and decide how everyone gets! Kingdoms could have purple coins and a crazy caps shop and the creator could pick what costumes you could buy with the purple coins naturally Odyssey wouldn't have multiplayer which y'know sucks but hey how would you expect it to work
Odyssey would be nice as like, to beat the level you get the moon, meaning the end goal is wherever you want it to be, and that has sooooo much potential.
My idea: Option that allows you to change the character eg. Toad runs faster and jumps lower as in Super Mario 3D World But the question is, what level is possible only like Luigi, for example? Answer: force a character or block that changes the physics of a character, which would allow for interesting puzzle levels! Edit: i know he mention something like that but i mean for all game styles, and this block from super luigi u is really cool

13:03 Those are already in SMB3 Super Mario Advance 4 on the GBA. There are a couple levels with the Wall Triangles and they have upside down ones that also let you run down walls and also run on ceilings.

I do have a reason why I think the SMB2 Style won’t ever exist in any SMM sequel: This style has different physics, like picking up enemies or items-that’s basically it. You can disagree with me.
Great video!! On the enemy part: I agree with that sparks (or fuzzies in other styles) would be great. But some of the other SM2 enemies have kinda never appeared again. So probably it would be better to keep them to the super mario 2 style. Like Lakitu changing into Pidgits or something. If we get SSM3 Reznol will likely be in there, now that the Koopalings are in, but Wart will NOT happen. Birdo also be attached to the Sm2 style. Outside of his unnamed cameo in Links Awaking Nintendo seems to have no interest to revive him. It seems more likely to see him in Smash tbh haha.
For the mario bros 2 style with different characters having different physics, i think it should be up to the creator of the course to decide to give everyone different physics or not. That way levels cant be broken or cheesed as easily
Let’s just hope they add more environments and maybe styles for Super Mario Bros 2, New Super Mario Bros, New Super Mario Bros Wii, and New Super Mario Bros 2. Hope they can bring back the Penguin Suit, Mini Mushroom, Gold Flower, Gold Mushroom, and Ice Flower. Don’t forget to bring back Light Blue, Yellow, and Pink Yoshis. And bring back Mystery Costume Mushroom and Playable Yellow Toad.
There are so many other characters they could do that could be so much fun. I just feel like Megaman works! When they added the hat in 3D World that lets you shoot, all I could think was "Megaman would be so much fun".
New power-ups: the penguin suit: the penguin suit was first added in the new super Mario bros U deluxe. Instead of slowing down on ice cubes, you can use the penguin suit to slide nonstop! Not only you can use it on ice cubes but on different background themes as well!
I have seen a lot of people talk about adding the skinny mushroom, I also would have liked a skinny mushroom, but imagine other characters with the skinny mushroom, the designs for toad and toadette would not look the best with it,
This is great! But 3 more things: 1. Bring back the amibo costumes 2. Let me place more than 5 levels in world builder 3. Let me make the world map scrolling so im not limited to the amount of path I can place!
I hope they include a super Mario Kart theme where you can build your own racing tracks. Oh and when you build you get a bird's eye view of the track your building. And when you go to test it out it will turn into a normal behind view like in the original.
I personally think we don’t really need a “mario maker 3”. Most avenues where already explored in mm2, and while there’s definitely room for improvement with mm2s content, I don’t think a £50 new game really justifies a few extra themes, enemies and so on. No what mario maker needs, is Super Mario Maker 3D. The mario franchises has a fair few 3D titles now, 64, sunshine, galaxy, odyssey, these could be your main themes. Possible 3D world too. A 3D editor would really change the mario maker meta, and would make a truly brand new game.
I think there should be a NSMB (DS) style, along with the shell and/or mini mushroom powerup. shell for theme only, mini mushroom for multiple themes. Also a better custom scroll would be great too, e.g. use in subworld, scroll reverse / can go back
One thing Ive wanted but not seen many people talk about is infinite lifts. These platforms have been in the SMB series since the start and would constantly have several lifts scroll from the top and bottom of the screen in one direction, as if they were on a factory conveyor belt. These would work super well for both unique platforms and super special secrets.
Maybe there should be more selections in the odyssey theme so not only does it have all the other themes but there are also themes for kingdoms, this would also add more liquid from luncheon kingdom and in cloud, hat etc. there would be fog in the bottomless pits that would clear out when Mario is near it
There are no little things coming soon. As I mention in the video, any future updates will just be bugfixes or new ninji speedruns. We won't get new content until Mario Maker 3.
They'd never get the lawyers out of the way, but like a "mega man mode" it would be sweet to see a "Nintendo Maker" game series. Donky Kong, Mega Man, Mario kart, Contra, etc. Captain Toad would make a cool stand alone update for MM2 and since it's more 2.5D it'd be easier to learn.
Another cool idea came to mind watching the Mega Man Helmet; the Sonic Shoes, available only on SMW turning Mario into Sonic, allowing him to run at faster speeds, building up more momentum for bigger jumps, bouncing higher when jumping on enemies, and allowing him to charge up the spin for an instantaneous max speed run.
This is a really well made video man, really enjoyed it. Although I did find it a little jarring how most of the gameplay from the retro games was zoomed in a little bit. That was probably just because you didn't want to have like the points and time and whatnot visible, but I don't think being able to see that stuff is the worst thing ever. I also really like how you talked about the problems some of these new features would pose and possible workarounds. Much better than when people are like "I dunno how this would work but they'd figure it out bye."
I want a Galaxy style where you can play with gravity. Gravity switches, or placing "fields" of gravity like semisolids, which you could control the direction of with switches.

I think Odessey will be added. Though Nintendo only added one game style in Mario Maker 2, so this trend might be carried on, but I'm not sure.

I do have a reason why I think the SMB2 Style won’t ever exist in any SMM sequel: This style has different physics, like picking up enemies or items-that’s basically it. You can disagree with me.
Great video!! On the enemy part: I agree with that sparks (or fuzzies in other styles) would be great. But some of the other SM2 enemies have kinda never appeared again. So probably it would be better to keep them to the super mario 2 style. Like Lakitu changing into Pidgits or something. If we get SSM3 Reznol will likely be in there, now that the Koopalings are in, but Wart will NOT happen. Birdo also be attached to the Sm2 style. Outside of his unnamed cameo in Links Awaking Nintendo seems to have no interest to revive him. It seems more likely to see him in Smash tbh haha.

They should make it so we can add our fav Mario sound tracks to our Mario courses.
For the mario bros 2 style with different characters having different physics, i think it should be up to the creator of the course to decide to give everyone different physics or not. That way levels cant be broken or cheesed as easily
Will there be a "Super Mario Maker 3"? Somebody should email Nintendo, star a petition.
What I want is semi-solid slopes, more music options, and a background editor for the levels.

you know, just a couple of days ago i was thinking about how nintendo could add secret exits to levels like in New Super Mario bros U Deluxe
They need to add that each character gets their old specialty like luigi has high jump they need to add thattt
i think that would break a lot of the game cause then you can cheese levels
unless you could force the player to play as a certain character, I think this is a bad idea tbh
Let’s just hope they add more environments and maybe styles for Super Mario Bros 2, New Super Mario Bros, New Super Mario Bros Wii, and New Super Mario Bros 2. Hope they can bring back the Penguin Suit, Mini Mushroom, Gold Flower, Gold Mushroom, and Ice Flower. Don’t forget to bring back Light Blue, Yellow, and Pink Yoshis. And bring back Mystery Costume Mushroom and Playable Yellow Toad.

There are so many other characters they could do that could be so much fun. I just feel like Megaman works! When they added the hat in 3D World that lets you shoot, all I could think was "Megaman would be so much fun".
New power-ups: the penguin suit: the penguin suit was first added in the new super Mario bros U deluxe. Instead of slowing down on ice cubes, you can use the penguin suit to slide nonstop! Not only you can use it on ice cubes but on different background themes as well!

Honestly, they should just replace the SMB2 Mushroom with the Skinny Mushroom, and then put an SMB2 style
I have seen a lot of people talk about adding the skinny mushroom, I also would have liked a skinny mushroom, but imagine other characters with the skinny mushroom, the designs for toad and toadette would not look the best with it,
Definitely want more types of goals, chargin chucks, and more items and styles.
To make Super Mario Odyssey in SMM3 might be a challenge to them.

I hope they include a super Mario Kart theme where you can build your own racing tracks. Oh and when you build you get a bird's eye view of the track your building. And when you go to test it out it will turn into a normal behind view like in the original.
I know it's not what you're asking for, but the P-Balloon can make for some fun Mario Kart-esque action! :)

I personally think we don’t really need a “mario maker 3”. Most avenues where already explored in mm2, and while there’s definitely room for improvement with mm2s content, I don’t think a £50 new game really justifies a few extra themes, enemies and so on.
No what mario maker needs, is Super Mario Maker 3D. The mario franchises has a fair few 3D titles now, 64, sunshine, galaxy, odyssey, these could be your main themes. Possible 3D world too. A 3D editor would really change the mario maker meta, and would make a truly brand new game.

I think there should be a NSMB (DS) style, along with the shell and/or mini mushroom powerup. shell for theme only, mini mushroom for multiple themes.
Also a better custom scroll would be great too, e.g. use in subworld, scroll reverse / can go back

One thing Ive wanted but not seen many people talk about is infinite lifts. These platforms have been in the SMB series since the start and would constantly have several lifts scroll from the top and bottom of the screen in one direction, as if they were on a factory conveyor belt. These would work super well for both unique platforms and super special secrets.
Yeah, you could probably recreate this with platforms on a track, but having it as an option would be nice!

Maybe there should be more selections in the odyssey theme so not only does it have all the other themes but there are also themes for kingdoms, this would also add more liquid from luncheon kingdom and in cloud, hat etc. there would be fog in the bottomless pits that would clear out when Mario is near it

They'd never get the lawyers out of the way, but like a "mega man mode" it would be sweet to see a "Nintendo Maker" game series. Donky Kong, Mega Man, Mario kart, Contra, etc. Captain Toad would make a cool stand alone update for MM2 and since it's more 2.5D it'd be easier to learn.
Another cool idea came to mind watching the Mega Man Helmet; the Sonic Shoes, available only on SMW turning Mario into Sonic, allowing him to run at faster speeds, building up more momentum for bigger jumps, bouncing higher when jumping on enemies, and allowing him to charge up the spin for an instantaneous max speed run.
Yeah. I’d love to see Sonic as well. Courses would have to be much larger tho. :)
This is a really well made video man, really enjoyed it. Although I did find it a little jarring how most of the gameplay from the retro games was zoomed in a little bit. That was probably just because you didn't want to have like the points and time and whatnot visible, but I don't think being able to see that stuff is the worst thing ever. I also really like how you talked about the problems some of these new features would pose and possible workarounds. Much better than when people are like "I dunno how this would work but they'd figure it out bye."

I see Cappy being more of a power up than having it's own theme. Ice flower has to be added.
I want a Galaxy style where you can play with gravity. Gravity switches, or placing "fields" of gravity like semisolids, which you could control the direction of with switches.
When talking about a SMB2 style, people almost always forget that the 3d world style removed the special abilities of each character.
