  • Hi everyone!
    Today I thought it might be fun to show you around the Chinese Lanuge School in Yangshuo.
    I am a huge fan of the school and I personally believe that this school provides an amazing learning experience for people who want to study Mandarin. The people (students and teachers) are very open and the area is absolutely beautiful. If you are also thinking about studying Chinese in Mainland China, I can only recommend you to check out Omeida: www.omeidachin...

    Only natural to seek out common language and culture when you are abroad. Breaking out of the mold and interacting with the locals is a lot harder in their language and customs is more difficult

    • @serenaunfiltered
      @serenaunfiltered  9 месяцев назад +1

      @DW-op7ly I 100% agree! I loved the little interactions I had with locals, but it definitely took some time to be able to understand them (tbh I think I‘m still not quite there yet😅)

    recently discovered that many language schools are located in Yangshuo. As a native of Guangxi, I don't quite understand,is Yangshuo that attractive lol? although I admit it's quite beautiful as a tourist destination.

    • @serenaunfiltered
      @serenaunfiltered  9 месяцев назад +3

      @ossskellige2354 I think it‘s also quite attractive because it‘s on the country side which makes it easy to learn chinese since really no one speaks english and it also makes it relatively cheap. I looked at similar programs in Beijing and Chongqing and their significantly more expensive. I will say the scenery is one of a kind, but China has so many beautiful places!☺️

    I'm curious, I see you buying your meals but their website says meals are included with the price of tuition. Is this true?

    • @serenaunfiltered
      @serenaunfiltered  4 месяца назад +1

      When I was there, meals could be included for a super low price (like 1.60$ per meal) and you could choose to have two of those (lunch and dinner) in the canteen. I preferred to get the food from the street stalls because I liked the experience and there was more variety. I would eat lunch at the canteen tho. :)

    wow, i wasn't aware there is a chinese language school in yangshuo, how many students are studying there?

    • @serenaunfiltered
      @serenaunfiltered  9 месяцев назад

      The chinese school (where foreigners go) has about 30ish students I would guess but it also changes quite often.. The english school (which is where chinese people learn english has much more students. Kinda hard to make a guess there..😊

    amazing video! is it possible to learn chinese in one year before start your major in China ? have no chinese basic. have you faced anybody who started from zero

    • @serenaunfiltered
      @serenaunfiltered  6 месяцев назад

      I‘ve met some people who came to Omeida and did not have any Chinese knowledge (most of the people however did make a basic course or something prior). I think you will pick up Chinese a lot faster when you are immersed nevertheless it will still take time. I think one year to learn Chinese is doable but it requires a lot of discipline and will! But to be honest it depends on your native language, general learning skill and motivation .. kinda hard to generalize😅

      @JACSEL1 That‘s a great question thank you for asking! I don‘t particularly study it for a job, but I do think it will be an advantage to have it on my resume. I simply enjoy languages in general and since Chinese is so different from my native language (German) I really wanted to give it a try. I ended up really enjoying studying characters and I also like to build my own opinion about the chinese culture since it is often negatively connotated in western news. ☺️

      @@serenaunfiltered I agree. Western media is so manipulated. Personally, chinese people were so kind and nice when I was travelling in China. I felt safer in China than in Canada. I hope you enjoy chinese hot pot and baoxi; they are very delicious dishes.

      @nickfury8973 yes! I watched a show called 狐妖小红娘 (little fox spirit matchmaker) but tbh I would say the level was a bit too high for me since I caught myself reading the english subtitles too much.. I‘m now watching 爸爸去哪儿 which is about children and their dads and its relatively easy language☺️

    Cuanto cuesta estudiar en Omeida?

    • @serenaunfiltered
      @serenaunfiltered  3 месяца назад

      depende del tipo de habitación que tengas, de cuántas clases reserves y de si quieres hacer voluntariado o no. Yo tenía un compañero de piso, reservaba tres clases al día (5 días a la semana) y hacía una hora de voluntariado al día. En aquel momento pagué unos 2500 USD por tres meses (eso no incluye otros gastos como comida y actividades, etc.). Creo que se puede calcular en su sitio web :)
