- The setting is taken from the 2009 hit movie Invictus starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon. Freeman plays the role of South African President Nelson Mandela. Damon plays the role of Francois Pienaar, the captain of the Springbok Rugby Team. In the scene, Mandela has invited Pienaar to tea. Click to watch the clip The World Cup is a year away and the fledgling Springbok need motivation. As they talk, Mandela sits back in his chair and says; "Tell me Francios, What is your philosophy on leadership? How do you inspire your team to do their best?"
Morgan Freeman is a fantastic actor, his portrayal of Mandela was phenomenal
Amazing how Mandela never rushes things with Pienaar, greeting him, serving tea, casual chat, in order to feel him out to see whether he is the right man for the job of helping to unite the country. A statesman at every level.
I am the master of my fate.
I am the captain of my soul.
Sadly, these were also mass murderer Timothy McVeigh's last words. Just words.
it matters not straight the gate
how charged with punishments the scroll
And Mandela and South Africa exceeded their expectations! #Respect
In turning into a murder ridden racist hellholes sure lmao
@@whiteargentinian2662 That's Jacob Juma
@@whiteargentinian2662 Don't be ignorant. That's not what Mandela had in mind. His successors trashed the place...and his legacy
"We all need inspiration, because in order to build a nation, we must all exceed our own expectations"
The long way for peace and true happiness
Actually you missed a key word....rewatch this video and Mandela actually says "OUR nation" and not "A nation"....emphasizing the word OUR, to clarify that unity between blacks and whites must be attained for the country to succeed.
I have to say - and I'm south African before I get attacked. Matt Damon's accent wasn' too bad, be did a good job and I've heard lots of bad ones. The best one being Nicole Kidman in the Interpreter. Matt did good
When acting is so brilliantly executed, that in fact, one would think it was an actual interview..
i have watched this scene more than 10 times, it is so inspiring
RIP Mr. Mandela
Amazing thank you for this

I didn't like the film, but these 2 were amazing. I know quite a few South Africans, and watching Freeman and Damon it's just so easy to forget they are American actors - it's as if they were born to play these roles.
I'm afraid to count how many times I have watched this movie!! :-) Freeman and Damon gave "masterful" performances and made a true believer out of me!! :-) Even the 'Special Features' shared on the CD are awesome. It was great hearing and seeing the real Francois Pienaar and Chester. :-)
I hated Freeman's accent. Doesn't sound African but Damon did a good job with the Afrikaner accent, he sounds believable.
Not everyone is capable of doing a perfect Afrikaner accent not even the legendary Morgan Freeman
Mandela's accent was Black African, not Afrikaner.
Where to get full movie?
Thanks so much for the subtitulos
Excellent accent by Matt ...amazing 👏 don't know it's Matt 🎭
Mandela the great, by Freeman the great. At that time, no one except Freeman was able to play Madiba
A man with faith..
Mandela, you are the inspire man to the world.
great scene, although the passage in question wasnt Invictus, it was theodore roosevelts 'Man in the Arena' soeech from his lecture at the Sorbonne
You dont inspire. You dont worry about inspiring. You just believe
the seed for a country's rebirth.
Great men.
Gloria in Excelsis Deo!
He's handsome
Ha ha. Love Matt Damon with Blonde hair, Did the South African accent well.
Memory is an awful, dreadful thing
We mustn't forget where we started in order to be better than we imagined we could be
And that's when Nkosi Sikilele Iafrika became the Rainbow Nation's national anthem? Can somebody help me on this? Would be greatly appreciated ;)!
The anthem became official in 1997 when the merged the old anthem used during Apartheid (Die Stem van Suid-Afrika) with the ANC's national anthem (Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika) but both were sung during the Rugby World Cup ☺
wow
Nkosi Sikelel iAfrika

Heard both versions, they're actually equally good :)
Adora Basil Winterpock that is 'Die Stem' which is frowned upon these days
Les 4A ????????????????
I have no comment "Wild Geese"

Morgan freeman is one of the best actors out there but his south african accent was really bad in this movie
