    The fact that Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker seem like such good friends every time they appear together for things like this is probably my entire favourite thing about the show. They're so good to us, to the community and the fans, and I just feel so lucky to be able to watch them all have fun with these things.

    Back in the 70's and 80's, Patrick Troughton (2nd Doctor) and Jon Pertwee (3rd Doctor) had a professional/personal/fun rivalry where they would always argue like their Doctors whenever they were around each other. It's awesome that Colin (6th) and Sylvester (7th) continued that act over the decades, with David (10) and Matt (11) having similar public chemistry. Great Doctor Who traditions.

    As a Brit, it is impossible to overestimate the influence of Bernard Cribbins on British culture. He was our comedy, our childhood and our cuddly uncle.

    Love these people! I still dream about an 8th doctor series run happening. They could still do it, Paul looks great! But alas it's just a dream. At least we have the audio dramas!

      There's a rumor that something involving the 8th might be in development. It could go either way, and who knows what it might end up being, but there's an unspecified degree of hope for more 8 on screen.

    19:05 Wow. That was me. Doctor Who kept me going through the worst time of my life when I suffered from a severe anxiety disorder as a young teen. And when I nearly got to my breaking point, my desire to want to meet my favorite Doctor and hero (David Tennant) was one of the things that kept me from going through. (Still haven’t met him yet, but it’s extremely important to me that I do to tell him that he did help save my life.)
    I’m glad. Ten years on and my anxiety is but a distant bad memory. And now, I’m back into Doctor Who and 6 is now tied with 10 as my favorite Doctors thanks to Big Finish. 😁
    Don’t give up. There’s always hope.

    I love this line up. The energy in the room. I love they way they all play of each other.
    I first started watching Dr who back in 1981 when i was 5. I grew up watching Peter Davidson dr. I even had the cricket 🏏 jumper. I remember Collins and Syl drs very well.
    I was gutted when it got axed and ecstatic when RTD brought it back. ❤

    I think that the biggest factor that makes it special is how the show itself is timeless (if you pardon the word). It never truly feels out of place in the real world, but at the same time, in the same way, it's the best form of escapism there is, for so many. Both young and old can sit down and watch the show while feeling like they're part of the adventure. It's almost like how us Americans had Knight Rider. (Basically, imagine if the TARDIS could talk the entire time, but it's a super car made from a Pontiac Firebird)
    That show dared to challenge issues underneath the Good Guy Beats Bad Guys persona. Issues like the loss of a loved one. PTSD. Ethics behind Artificial Intelligence. All of these things that have remained in the current era. That is what being Timeless (if you pardon the word because chibnall made me want to hurl) truly is. Something that explains how to get through different difficult situations in a way that both young and old can understand.

    Major props to Sophie for her impersonation of Jodie. :D I'd love to be a fly on the wall on before the conventions start, to see how everyone get along before going on stage. It must be like catching up with some really good mates (I just want "a" mate :P) a couple of times a year.

  • @alexfletcher5192
    @alexfletcher5192 Год назад +6

    I think Colin's point is enormously valid, at a time when there is so much division (largely generational) about what the character should be. We did not expect in the 1970s that Tom Baker should be the same as William Hartnell - that would have been farcical in context - and therefore the show survives by reinvention. Regeneration is not just canon, it's a device to continue the show in changed social conditions.

    • @willlauzon3744
      @willlauzon3744 8 месяцев назад

      Though they should have kept the Doctor on a one regeneration cycle. Then the show could actually end and his life has a last chapter. If they needed to they could have brought back Susan Foreman or Rhomana and had them take up the title of the Doctor. Might not have the same staying power but to be fair the new show has really run out it's welcome
