      Don’t worry about it, once you quit social media for long enough (like I did, only one I kept is RUclips cus too much value in it for me), you will find that you won’t see a desire to use it and thus when you have creative juices flowing, you will easily stick to what Charlie suggested - using for brand but not for personal purposes… why? Because it will be so dead to you that you won’t feel any dopamine drive to touch it whatsoever, it will be more of a chore.

    I've eliminated video games completely, going for almost a year now, and now every-time I get any desire to play or pick up anything I feel instant guilt because we never get this time back and I'd rather spend it on things that will actually impact my life. My goal and time dedicated to it, take priority now and I get more satisfaction in achieving and acquiring new skills every day.
    I dropped multiple hobbies and projects and decided to just focus on one thing this year. Like you have said here, my goal striving mechanism has attached to coding/creating and I find it so much easier to be consistent and not quit or keep cycling new interest/projects because of how rewarding it is to see the results.
    Its great listening to you talk about this and interesting how these are actual behaviors that can translate across people's experiences.

      I'm going on year 3 of no video games. I picked up singing lessons with the time freed up from video games.
      Now that I can sing on a professional level, it gave me the confidence that broke my fear of standing in front of a crowd.
      I just purchased my first rental property. And I have 2 more businesses to start.
      I just quit caffeine and alcohol, next is sugar and nicotine.
      I am becoming happier than the day before.

    The reason meditation is so important bro, is it lets you see how bad the addictions are.
    So for me, I was drinking tonnes of coffee. But when I started meditating and then quit coffee, where the meditation massively helped with, well I had sleep apnea. So was basically in bed all day for the next few weeks.
    So went, holy shit. What is wrong? Do I have cancer?
    But, even getting to that space where I could meditate and could quit coffee, I made my bed every day for like 3 months. Then went for a walk. Then went to the gym.
    It was these small 0.1% increases every day, where it gets to: “well, i better now ditch the alcohol” and “I better quit the coffee” etc. And with the stronger addictions: alcohol, cigarettes etc. They need to be all at the same time.
    And in order to drop all them at the same time, the 1000 tiny steps improving your life incrementally before that, allows you to then take that larger step.
    So like the fitness influencers who say: “just count calories”, which essentially is true. But really, eating healthy and getting in the habit of going to the gym for 6-12 months is way more important than counting the calories.
    So if you JUST cut out the sugar, where is the dopamin coming from? Life then would absolutely feel like hell. Then the person will feel like the source of hell is not having that thing. (hence how addiction works), it’s not when you are having it, it’s when you’re not.
    So the journaling and the 5 minute meditations get you moving.
    I’m not disagreeing with anything you’re saying, but the ‘belief’ you can do it. The ‘belief’ you should do it comes from improving yourself a tiny bit every day, where doing that thing is just so incongruent you can’t do it anymore.
    like the fitness influencers who drink coffee, they believe it’s fine so they keep doing it (as the results are there).
    So before all is the belief, then whether you take away or add. Anything you can do to improve. Whatever you can. Do that.
    I’m not disagreeing. Just imagine being addicted to meth though, yes they should just get off meth. But if they can’t, do everything else they can to lead up to it. Then do it as well.

      Hey bro I agree with what you said. Your comment on sleep apnea caught my eye since I’ve been struggling with getting out of bed recently. Literally feels like no matter how much I sleep, I’m never well rested to wake up feeling refreshed. I don’t think my case is related to caffeine though, but how were you able to solve it? Any tips with both identifying the cause as well as getting rid of it would be greatly appreciated!

    • @davesmith5939
      @davesmith5939 Месяц назад

      @snowcr caffeine just masked it. You get a CPAP machine (get resmed, I tried all the brands and it’s the best) and if you are under 25 can do ‘mewwing’ to bring your jaw forward, if over 25 need to get jaw surgery, is the only ‘cure’. I will be doing with Dr Alfi in the US eventually. He’s the most expensive but also the best.

    • @davesmith5939
      @davesmith5939 Месяц назад

      @snowcr Also lose weight, as even a few extra kg’s massively makes your sleep and sleep apnea worse, so start walking and gymming and adding veggies and stuff first, then remove caffeine once a few kgs are off as caffeine does help lose weight. And by walking and gymming, I mean 10 minute walks and 10 minutes gym. That’s it! No more. Have no rests with the weights, do 3 sets of low weights with 3-5 different exercises. Do the whole body over a week. Build up really slowly. Make sure the workouts are so easy that it doesn’t impact your day. Your goal is simply to make the habit, not anything else. I just did this to lose 20kg. As the fact you do it, then motivates you to do other shit. And the 10 minutes, turns into 20-30 over time and as the weights get bigger you then have rests. And if you can, buy a workout bench and adjustable dumbells + olympic rings. You can do ALL workouts with that combination. Having it at home, and not needing to even go to the gym makes it even easier.
      Those are the three answers to sleep apnea:
      1. Short term: Lose weight + get a CPAP machine.
      2. Jaw Surgery and mewwing.
      Oh, and I also bought a portable oxygen condesor. Was only a few hundred. Based on Dr Berg’s recommendation of oxygen therapy. I don’t use it all the time, but as an alternative to coffee, or if I am exhausted, a little extra oxygen is a nice healthy boost.

      I agree, we are all different. This dude has great tips and explanations but this is his gameplan for his life. Everyone was raised uniquely, and we all have our own morals and values, and are at different stages in life. I believe for most people if you focus on developing self awareness it’s easy to see what truly is holding you back.

    It was enlightening to frame the short form/quick dopamine hit habits as taking away from the ability to pursue their deeper forms (books, love, business)
    and to realize each of those habits does function in me exactly like a disability. I feel disabled by them. You've given me a lot to think about.

I also love how you mask it by using clickbaity titles so it looks like some guru BS but if you watch it suddenly you realize “oh my god that is the real deal!”… keeps the majority of the wannabe entrepreneurs away 😂 only the real ones wade through enough self help content to uncover the hidden gems 😂 everyone else just judges the book by the cover and goes drifting on in an endless cycle of self help gurus and inaction when they could’ve found you and DONE what you laid out. I did and it radically changed my entire life and income, so thank you to you brother. I hope some day I’ll run into you in Dubai.

    I started no sugar finally on day 4 now... Day 1-2 was a breeze, Day 3 was really bad, Motivation ran out and I really had a high crash in energy... day 4 still going relatively well. I havent quit any of the other habits. I barely use social media anymore from before so I am good on that, I dont smoke/drink etc so sugar and porn is the only thing I need to work on and decided sugar is the best to start as being free from the energy crashes and the brain fog will make removing anything else easier... I have had small mistake happen though, on the first day I took a gum but again I expect that is fine, it was unconcious and its so little I didnt count it, 2nd day I cut my hair and my barber always gives this like coffe treat and I take it and I relized mid-way that im not supposed to eat it and spit it out lol... And today I have some unhealthy food going with some friends for chicken+fries but still off sugar and pretty much all "bad" sources of carbs etc... Only have eaten that fries which likely was a bad thing and thats about it

I used it for all my social media and I came back to it a month later and saw how addicted I got and how much I was taking away from my own life, and begun to have a natural disgust for the addiction and decided from my heart I don’t need it anymore. I started with video games, which I had an addiction for years, then social media, and now that I have a healthy diet, I’m looking to reduce my sugar as much as possible next and fix my sleep cycle. I never drank and I feel lucky that it’s one less thing I have to worry about. Thank you 😊
