@@gundamzerostrike That's great dude! I remember struggling a lot with chord changes the first like 3 months. I only practiced like 15 minutes a day though. I think it's alright if you don't really search for tips and tricks. For me, some things just come naturally with time. Like a light bulb lights up above my head. After reading up a bit online, it seems playing guitar is full of those eureka moments. I think it's important you try to learn the songs you want to through RUclips tutorials. Even if you don't search for tips and tricks, most of the videos always give you one without it being the main focus and you'll easily pick it up because you're actually concentrating, trying to learn that song voluntarily. Most importantly though, do whatever you want, you'll get the hang of everything given enough time. Have fun playing!

This is magic. I was here a month ago and followed your instructions and tuned my guitar two steps lower and barre chords became much easier. I have played guitar 4 a very long time but had given up on barre chords. Now I can play on standard tune. I'm so happy man. Thanks 4 these tips.
I teach guitar. This has been the most helpful channel I've ever found... and there are GREAT channels out there. This loose, fun and nearly carefree, yet passionate way of teaching you do is so engaging. It makes you want to pay attention and retain information. Even as a teacher Ive struggled with that my whole life. So thank you!!!
For me I wanted to learn a lot of songs that had a B-chord or B-minor, as I also started learning violin and music theory I realized how versatile barre chords could be and the range of additional chords and variations that could be opened up even by knowing the simplest 4 major and minor chord shapes as barres- A, C, D and E. My main tip is, get your barring finger right up against the fret, that way you need minimum pressure and get maximum reach, you really don't have to press hard at all, in fact if you are against the fret it's counter productive. Once you get it there's so much stuff opens up, right away, I could play absolutely any key just using A-shape, E-shape, E-minor and A minor shapes, adding D/Dm and C decrease the amount of shifting but the Amaj/min and Emaj/min will usually be the go tos! They are just so easy to transition between and slide around!
I love your practical tips and good for you for learning barre chords! I am learning barre chords and here is the the most helpful tip that has helped me, which I learned literally last night when for the first time I had a "PHYSICAL" lesson with a good teacher. What I found was that the reason I sucked at barre chords was because of the position I was holding my guitar in. When he corrected how I held the guitar and where I held it in relation to my body, I could put my left hand in the right position for the first time, which until then I could never do. Gone was the grabby thumb and my thumb was now on the back of the neck for the FIRST TIME EVER! I would not have learned this and would have carried on as I was if I had not taken a physical lesson where the teacher could see what I was doing, spot my mistake (that I was completely oblivious to) and correct me. Obviously I now have to practice long and hard, but because I am now physically positioned correctly the mechanics will no longer be getting in my way. Peace and love to all guitar players!
Dude you helped me but NOT with your tips but your playing. YOu put your finger like 5000 km above the upper neck and EVERY online teacher is almost flush with fingertip and neck I just had to move my index 0.5cm higher and bam easiest barre chords of my life It took me ONE GODDAMN YEAR! I liked your part about singing man cause ive been feeling pretty meh at singing recently, good reminder to keep doing it. Also 3:50 actually cracked me up, instead of jamming a new string on the guitar you were like "meh whatever i dont need it."
Moving from learning f chord to 5th fret is so helpful, i always thought i can't do barre chord, but when i do it on the 5th fret i can do it easily, thank you 😃😃
You can also use your tumb to push down on the low e string. That way you only have to barre the high e and b string with your index finger. This makes chords low on the neck (where the tension is higher) easier to play. But you can only do that with major chords with the base note on the e string. (With minor chords and 7th chords you'd have to barre the highest 3 strings with your index finger wich makes it not that mutch easier than just barre the whole chord) Barre chords with the base note on the a string are often already easier to play :)

Barre chords seem dificult for beginners. here is a tip for everyone that hasn't mastered them yet : barre chords mostly use the index finger as base for the barre, think of your finger like a capo, it's there just for the chord to sound higher pitched, also a mistake i used to do as a beginner, was to play barre chords directly on the fret markers instead in the fret, that said, barre chords will stil be a pain because most people are not used to them, so a good practice for it is to play open chords (G, C, A), in their barre version, that helps a lot, by a week or two you should already have barre chords mastered
Holy shit, man. I laughed my ass off. I don't even care about barre chords anymore, I just enjoyed your video. I wish you had like 100x more views. You deserve it.
Very inspiring video bro ❤ When i learned bar chords, i just learned them by putting down my fingers ,again and again, up and down the neck ,for a few Weeks, it helped me building up the muscles
Idk why that edit at number 6 tripped me out so much, but great job man 😂 I wish your channel was around when I first started learning guitar. I think I would've had more breakthroughs sooner
I do suggest fingerplucked songs with barre chords. You'll learn to keep your finger in place and tight on every atring. Also, use the curvature of your finger. Place it flat on the board, roll it a bit to the side and position the other fingers, you'll feel it's more "natural"
best way to learn barre chords is to learn the shapes, have a chart up with the fretboard and what note is where and then go on ultimate guitar and play through your favourite songs using barre chords. Or, if you want the hard way, learn to play through the circle of fifths using barre chords - then do it at redicuolus tempos, I can do it at 297 bpm
Dude! Memory flowing! I got a boxer fracture this year in my fretting hand, so your pinkie reach looking fab. Also, I snapped the high e on my Gretsch Jim Dandy four years ago & it's during that stint I experimented most with barre chords. I liked C into C7 into jazzy barred upper Cs & trills with my pinkie fing. Or whatever. I'm on the hunt for a new acoustic now, but that's whatever too. Anyway, you keep it up. Make sure to get your steam wishlist packed with Rocksmith DLC btw. 🤴
I just started watching your vids. I don't know how to play the guitar yet, but in 2 days I'm gonna go shop around and hopefully buy one. Then I can suck with you! :D
Some tips that I wish I knew when starting out. 1: Play to a metronome, please! This set me back a ton when I didn't do it when starting out. Please play to a click or drum track. 2: Don't worry about the perfect technique, play how you feel comfortable. This doesn't mean to not care at all about playing things right, this just means that it is not as important as some people say. 3: Practice, now I know this is a cliche and a lot of people will roll their eyes but please practice over and over until you get that one chord change right or that one lead. This is probably the most important tip here. 4: Learn rhythm and lead guitar. This is pretty self-explanatory but let me tell you some good beginner lead and rhythm parts. Also, these parts sound good on acoustic and electric. Rhythm; Hotel California Strumming Parts (Use a capo, not barre chords if you learn this when just starting out on guitar, later you can use barre chords when you get better.), Smoke On the Water Intro, Enter Sandman Intro, Should I Stay or Should I Go, Back In Black Intro, Paranoid Intro, Iron Man Intro, Wish You Were Here, Symphony Of Destruction Verse, Seek & Destroy Intro, Main Riff, and Verse. Lead; Scar Tissue 1st and 2nd Guitar Solos, Californication Guitar Solo, Smells Like Teen Spirit Guitar solo, Holiday Guitar Solo, Nothing Else Matters Distorted Guitar Solo, Master Of Puppets Interlude Harmony, Hotel California Outro (The repeated lick after the two main guitar solos.). I don't know if you know all of these songs but you probably know some, so learn the ones you would like to learn. Now obviously there are way more great guitar parts for beginners, but these are the ones that helped me stay motivated the most. 5: The last tip is just to learn whatever songs you want, as long as they are not way too difficult. Also, this can be applied to techniques. If someone says you need to learn how to play your scales a certain way but you don't like how it sounds, don't play them that way. Instead, play what you think sounds cool. Also, although it is always good to challenge yourself somewhat. I would say starting with some easy songs riffs and licks like mentioned above, and then branch out and start learning slightly more difficult stuff. That's how I learned, and as I kept branching out to more difficult stuff I eventually got better and better.
The Wise Bread wow, thanks for that reply dude! I just screen shotted it and I’m gonna keep all that stuff in mind when I’m learning. What was the first acoustic you got? Everyone keeps suggesting I get Taylor GS mini as my first, but my budget isn’t that high right now.
StiffBatster I learned on an old acoustic my dad bought for my mom when they got married. It’s like 25 years old now. I still use this acoustic just because even though it’s a cheep old acoustic there is nothing wrong with it, it sounds good. Also, I am to poor to buy another nice acoustic.
do a vid on all the different forms of barre chords like shapes and stuff and explain about how if you move up two frets, the chord goes up one (like fret 1 barre chord is an F and up two frets gives you a G and then A and B and so on). I didn't figure this out till like a year into playing guitar and it's a life saver to know because it means you dont have to memorize positions and makes everything so intuitive
After learning the basic chords and notes and such, barre chords were one of the first things I learned. The minors, normals, maj7, everything as far as they go. Mainly cause the music I like using those mostly. I really just learned to play some songs I like and since then, I’ve just figured out the rest.
I love your vid bro - that tip on n ot playing top e string really helped me - the few millimeters difference stopped tension in my hand and then i just used my fingertip to mute the top e - more vids please bro :)
Lol, exactly what you said right at the start. Once you've learned to play most of the normal, open chords and learned a load of songs so you don't bother trying to push yourself. I've only just managed to get the F major after thinking I'd NEVER be able to play barre chords. The best tip that I ever learned was making an E major shape with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers, slide them up a fret each leaving the first fret and your 1st finger free to make your barre. It worked so quick for me.
Definitely. The learning books and such should learn you to play A and E major chords with 2, 3 and 4 fingers. It's really hard to get out of the habit of playing them with your index finger after taking all that time to learn it. So I think you're absolutely 100% spot on, learning them with your index finger free means you have a huge head start when moving on to barre chords 👍👍
I haven't been learning continually and it's been 2 years. I hope I learn to use barre chords by the end of this year. I got an electric and I'm very happy with it, I'm motivated.
I started on a electric and you may have the same experience I did where barre chords are easier than most open chords. Either way make sure those open chord shapes and transitions are solid before trying it will help a lot with barre chords
If got little fingers use which ever finger is longest, and use your next longest finger to just old down the other notes if there’s 2 on the same fret
This is a good video, it made me laugh. I believe that everyone's success is different from others, true success takes a lot of experiments. If it works, it is not necessarily a wrong way, it only might be wrong to others. Good video, I liked it. Never thought about taking a string off. I have practiced this bar chord thing for like about close to an hour now, I got it. However, the pain on my left hand sabotage the sound, it makes me don't want press it when it hurts.

Omg thank you so much. This video was super helpful. I never realized barre chords aren’t that hard till I saw this. Thank you!
One of the best videos on this and made me laugh.
Anyway, I hope some of these tips helped you.
First guitar I bought was an Epiphone Les Paul Special. I also got a fender champion 20 amp which sounds really good for clean and distorted guitar.
the vibe of this video is *immaculate*
do a vid on all the different forms of barre chords like shapes and stuff and explain about how if you move up two frets, the chord goes up one (like fret 1 barre chord is an F and up two frets gives you a G and then A and B and so on). I didn't figure this out till like a year into playing guitar and it's a life saver to know because it means you dont have to memorize positions and makes everything so intuitive
thats a good idea
every two frets does not = a new note, look at 5th position barre chord on fret 2 then 3, it's B then C, no Cb
this is golden.
retriever
why does he sound like he's always running out of breath
i find it the most hard to ring out the b string when barring chords
bro i'll fight the fucking b string skrait up
Relatable
Same...
Same it's either the b or g that say
Aight I'mma 🔇
After learning the basic chords and notes and such, barre chords were one of the first things I learned. The minors, normals, maj7, everything as far as they go. Mainly cause the music I like using those mostly. I really just learned to play some songs I like and since then, I’ve just figured out the rest.
💯 I love your content. 39 and just getting started with guitar. You make it entertaining for sure 😂.
that sixth finger blew my mind!
This video is the perfect combination of seriousness and humour
All the tips were awesome and practical ! Thanks !
Removing a string and adding a finger
Love it😂✨️✨️✨️
If got little fingers use which ever finger is longest, and use your next longest finger to just old down the other notes if there’s 2 on the same fret
