- Buddies! Been too long since I've been record shopping in Chicago! Well, just a few months, but really too long since I've hit the Chicago Record Show. It's even switched locations since I last visited, so I was eager to check out the new digs. All that plus I discover a new shop that can't be missed (and a big grail acquisition). Thanks for the tip on Signal! The one on Diversey is on the North edge of Logan Square, the neighborhood I lived in for 12 years. I will add both locations to my itinerary for my Spring Break record shopping trip.
You won't be disappointed! Between the two of them, you'll likely need plenty of fluids from the heat inhalation 🙂. Tell me what you pick up (when you go)!
I loved hearing about your adventures in Chicago. At some point, I need to check out those Chicago records stores. The record show looked very intense and crowded but I'm so glad you found such a cool grail there. ♥️ It's great that you were able to splurge on something you really wanted. Take care.

I always shop those Grail walls first or the bin of collectibles and the. Have no money to buy anything else. I does save me a lot of time digging through bins though so that is a plus. Signal has a heck of a wall, wowzer

Yours was the last one I grabbed. When I got the guy to go down five bucks, I told him "if it's any consolation, this is going to a friend who will give it a good home". His response: "that's no consolation at all" 🤣🤣

Chance, as always a great video. Some very nice scores. The shop you visited first was insane! They probably don't even have an electric bill in the winter due to all the heat on those walls! The $5 guys do sell some killer stuff. I was there that same day around 10AM and got a Herbie Inventions and Dimensions Liberty press for $5.

I spy with my eye ....PJ official bootleg, Christmas single and 2024 fan club stickers ...nice!!! Rock Records was a great store down town "by the Picasso" I used to go there a lot from 1986 till Crows Nest chain bought it and destroyed it it closed in late 2000s 07-08ish I think. Nice find on the In Utero, I was very lucky on that one when it came out 😉 and yes that pressing sounds great!!! Looks like it was a great trip glad my city had the goods !!!!
Your city was berry, berry good to me. 🤣 I think Signal bought out a lot of the inventory from Dave’s Records after it closed.

90’s R&B, Jodeci, TLC, Shai, Keith Sweat, etc. extremely tough to find

Chance love your feature on Signal records I still haven’t went to yet they had some killer goodies on the wall. At the record dude In Utero clear OG is a killer it’s my favorite record by them . I’m at that same point upgrading records in pristine condition . Love the hip hop you found DMX with the hype and that Lil Kim . Earlier last year I found a sealed 50 Cent Get Rich and die trying . I hope you come back for the next one I’ll go early bird to meet you . The signal records is in Logan Square neighborhood I grew there I moved from there in 2005 .Take care Chance keep on diggin’ brother.

I’m travelling to Chicago soon, from Australia. If you were to make recommendations for records stores to visit ,I’m guessing Signal records is first , what other record shops do you recommend in Chicago ?

what kind of stuff are you looking for? off the top, Signal (Wicker Park) has the hottest of heat. In fact, Wicker you can hit Signal, Dusty Groove, and Reckless Records (best location, IMO). Shuga is also on that block, but I haven't had great luck there.

@@anthonyburke223 i definitely will show more hip-hop on the channel. a clear void of that in the community. if you are looking for 90's OG's and are ok bucking up, Signal is the place. Check out their other shop too which is about 10 min away from the Wicker Park one. Let me know what you end up picking up! Safe travels!

@@anthonyburke223 Signal in Wicker Park is the best one. the other location is in Logan Square. They do have a train/metro system, but can be a lot of work to get your bearings, so (depending on where you are staying), rideshare (Uber, etc) is probably the way to go. but like I said, you can hit 4 solid shops in the Wicker Park neighborhood (by foot) alone. Good vinyl luck!

I’m happy to tell you offline. I mentioned price before on a bigger item like this on an earlier video and got some “not so nice” comments before, so I don’t do it any more.

Not to brag or make you feel bad, but back in July I scored a mint In Utreo at a garage sale about 3 miles from the Chicago show. 5 bucks! The dude had about a dozen super rare 90's albums for $2 each. It was a good day. Okay, I am bragging. Thanks for the vid.
