I already commented here, but I just have to add this now! My partner has been overhearing the daily videos and is now decluttering some of his stuff too....win, win!! He texted me from work today and said, "I just want to thank you for taking the time to declutter every day...I'm noticing the difference." Woo hoo!!! I couldn't erase my smile for some time after that!! How encouraging! :)
I started something similar on my own a year ago. I kept throwing a few things out every day. I still do it. My house looks so much nicer now. Yesterday a lady came to pick something up. I forgot she was coming. I looked around and thought: now people van unexpected come by. My house looks tidy all the time 🎉. I am part of a swab line for clothes and yesterday I looked for something to put in there. Could only find 2 items. Now I notice that decluttering is something that I do without thinking. It is part of everyday routine.
Does anyone watch the video then listen a 2nd time while working with the timer? Girl, this is so genius! My family thinks I have lost it. Rhonda from TN 🌻🌞🌻🌞🌻
My garage needed more than 5 minutes, so I cleaned the garage for 8-10 hours on Saturday, Sept. 21st, during the all day declutter session with Cas, Dawn and Dana. I listened to all of their declutter sessions while I worked in the garage. My recycling can is full to the top. My trash can is also filled to the top with an additional pile of trash and bags waiting in my garage for trash day pickup. My cans are usually about 25% full every. They are never full. On Monday my daughter and I hauled items from the garage to a thrift shop and took all the metal to the recycling center. Cas, I did your grab a bag and purge session all day. I am happy with the results. Even with all that effort I still found five things today to get rid of. Thanks Cas for the motivation and also to Dana and Dawn.
Good for you! It's so nice to have this outlet to let people know what you've done and how it was done. And people get it! Cas has helped me make sense of the decluttering process. I don't know what it is about her, but I really believe that I would not have made the progress without her videos.
I want to thank you for the declutter daily videos it’s been so helpful, didn’t realize I had so much stuff. Also my family thought I was going crazy (lol) I have talked my family into declutter there houses also. Even my mother and she’s 94 years old and she doesn’t get to watch the videos but she is trying bless her heart. Every morning she calls and asks me what we are decluttering today and I just suggest what ever she wants to, Thank you so much. Please do another 30 day challenge soon
I have never stuck to and been engaged with any series on RUclips this long. That in itself is a testament to how helpful this has been for me. Pattern established and maintained. Yay me!
My friend came for a short visit yesterday, and said "your place look good!". I know I have a long way to go, but its nice when others notice the progress. 🥰 Thanks for another fun story of yours Cas, now I see in my minds eye elderly people stuck in the recycling bins with little legs & arms waving around.....poor little guys!
I did it! We don't have a garage so I was going to work on the trunk of our car, figuring that today is doing the inside of the car. I was SO mad because it rained yesterday when I was going to work on it and then it was dark. 😠 I told my hubby that I felt like a failure because I didn't do something, because I committed to do something every day. He didn't think I was because I intended to do something. I looked at the challenge sheet and found that I'd also written "fireplace" as an option on the 24th since it's kind of a storage area. HA!! I got to work on that inside and I felt and feel so good that I didn't quit. It looks a lot better. This has been so good for creating a habit of finding things to clear out each day. We're travelling next month, so I'm planning on doing it again in November and probably every other month from now on. Such an easy, DOable process. Thank you, Cas! and to everyone else with encouraging words and inspiring stories. 💖
This month long declutter has been a game changer for me. Breaking it up in little 5 min increments makes it so much more manageable. I work from home so I can do these during my lunch hour or after work. I keep forgetting to take pics but I feel so better in certain areas of the house already. I need more time in my basement and a couple other rooms but my kitchen cabinets are looking so much better and I am not procrastinating as much on those hot spot areas. I need to do this a few times a year! At least spring and fall time are a must. Thanks so much! I have told all my friends about it as well.
I have also been telling my friends and coworkers. This is such an effective way to get me decluttering.... I only have to do 5 things.... and then it ends up being like 50! Lol
I drove home from work and noticed the pile of things in my console. All of it was rubbish (trash) so I collected it all and threw it in the bin on my way in. That's tomorrow's done today, so another area will be chosen tomorrow. I think doing it in small bites really works for me!
I did my garage a couple weeks ago so I focused on my office today. I was just overcome by dust and books I needed to donate. I got rid of so much stuff and it’s much cleaner. I love this challenge. I may not do the same stuff on your list but I do something every day. Life changing stuff here. Okay, back to work now.
Just found this series....I'm interested in starting from day one! I've been very ill, in hospital twice in 6 weeks, and recuperating has been hard. Starting to feel better and am motivated to simplify my home.
Last 3 days....craft supplies, storage areas, garage. I'm in an apt., so I don't have a garage, but UMMM...we do have a mud room. In said mud room, there are? You guessed it....craft supplies, storage, and just plain junk. Happy to say in the past 3 days, I've decluttered 40+items from that room, and squeal...it looks SO much better!!! I love these small goals that yield big results!! Many thanks again to you, Cas!!! I wish this would never end! Lol. Hope I'm disciplined enough now to continue daily on my own.
I live in an apartment too so I don't have a garage but I do have a cabinet that I store china dishes in that I am going to get them ready for donation
This month has been the best! It has changed not only how I look at decluttering but how I feel in general! My family finally noticed and asked me if there was something wrong. Lol
First time today as I’m going through a container and when I found something that belonged in the laundry room, I walked it to the laundry room instead of just making a pile, then thinking about after decluttering, oh better put that way or worse leave it in a pile l just made 😂 Thank you so much Cass for motivating us to declutter and making the process so enjoyable and not overwhelming at all. 🥰
My story is slightly different because I’ve been decluttering with Dawn, Dana and Cass for years now and my home is ok, pretty much where I want it and I’m just maintaining. What I’ve really loved about this series, and I still watch everyday and follow along where I can, is that sometimes, I go to a space, and I look at it, and I literally have nothing to remove from there, so I’ve been feeling super proud of myself and the progress made over time! I thought I still had so much to go. When you were doing kitchen drawers, I opened mine and there were only a few things in there, one of each, all separated by drawer organisers and I sort of looked at it with new eyes and thought, wow, this decluttering process is going well. So even for those who don’t have much left to go you are still giving advice and affirmations and they are so appreciated!
I’ve enjoyed these 5 minute decluttering sessions It’s made it fun for me and I realized that I’m going to get rid of 150 items in 30 days !😳 So I decided next month I’m going to increase it to 10 minutes and do 10 items and get 300 cluttering items out of my home ! Thank You Cass for showing me and motivating me to do this and making my decluttering muscles 💪🏽 stronger!
Oh my word, the recycle bin stories have me roaring! I’m 53 and that’s so something I’d do if we had a bin 🤦♀️🤣🤣🤣 I’m getting ready to start but I’ve a cushioned seat with drawers on wheels to move myself about the garage. I use it for car detailing. It’s fun 🤩 💚💚💚

Loved your story at the end. It reminded me of an acquaintance of mine who was filling her recycling bin, but the cardboard was too much to fit in it. So she climbed in to squash it down. Unfortunately for her, this bin (with wheels) was at the top of her rather steep drive, and it took off..... She tells this story with great relish, just thankful that the bin with her inside fell over and stopped before it reached the road, and all she ended up with were grazes to her knees and elbows.
I kid you not I hired help to declutter my garage today! Getting pumped up with this video❤. Hearing you go through the process out loud is so helpful and this challenge month idea has been the best!!!!!
@@lindamast2766 I searched online years ago, and get help every few months. I think I probably searched “home organizer (city name)”. I always think I “should” be able to do it myself and shouldn’t need to hire help, then I make myself hire her and we get SO MUCH DONE!!!
@@lindamast2766 I was just looking at Thumbtack this evening and found numerous companies in my area! The search was for decluttering, packing, moving, organizing, etc…hope this helps!
The garage is not in my jurisdiction... and I don't HAVE anything in there to declutter (although my husband could use a good size helping of Cas!😜). So I will continue to declutter in my sewing room for 5 minutes. (It has a LOT more 5 minutes's to go!) Thanks for this challenge, Cas! Love you!❤
What is it about Cas? I've needed to declutter for years and didn't or couldn't, but these videos have somehow clicked something on in my head that gives me the know how and motivation to get moving. I have made so much progress and so many changes that only the fans of Cas would understand. Let's keep making our lives and homes more manageable and organized. Thank you Cas for your videos that has helped me get there!
I’ve been doing all these challenges. It’s a bit hard cause I am cleaning while working on it 😅. I was feeling defeated until my husband said “imagine if we had a garage”, and I felt soooo much better
We need to do a 5 minute declutter in our basement several times a day! Lol When we moved, our garage and basement merged into one large space. We have it sectioned off for organization aaaaand each section is a hot mess! Last year, we redid our home gym section, and we still have old equipment to get rid of. We need to tidy up our fishing and camping section; sell a kayak; get rid of furniture that I never flipped, tidy up our tool section, and throw out old paint and boxes, and donate blankets to the pet shelter. Yeah. There is so much to do, but I have a plan now!!! 🎉😂
I don’t have a garage, but my son cleaned out the shed a few weeks ago. This time I let him toss anything he wanted. Got rid of over 100 items and it’s now clean and organized. Lots of stuff going to hazardous waste collection this Saturday.
This one was awesome for me. (I am a few days behind). I found 4 things. The 5th thing was a gift my hubby got this past Christmas that is a 3 panel LED light that is plugged into a regular bulb socket. I spent part of my 5 minutes installing this light and Oh My Soo much better we will now be able to see so much better and the box for this is now gone! Double win!
I live in an apparment and dont have a couple of the rooms youve mentioned so i try and get creative with it today i did the fire escape thanks from montreal ❤❤❤
I think last month we did a big big overhaul on my hut and my both garages because I have a garage department upstairs and we re-leveled the apartment so that made us take everything out re-organize get rid of and revamp it and it is so lovely room to walk. There was no room to walk in there room to walk. Everything is in shelves. I just totally love it now I need to go back in and go through a few boxes that I saved and let me see what I can per down, but I totally love it and we did this as a family my husband, my two sons I have three sons but one couldn’t do it. He works a lot, but it was really great and believe me we still have a little bit more work to do, but we’ve been pacing ourselves.
I love you cast you get me moving and I am headed to my sister-in-law‘s to help her declutter. I’m going to show her a few videos of this 30 day challenge.
We don’t have an enclosed garage with stuff but the laundry / back entry / workstation area needed some love. Found multiple items and managed to WD40 some garden tools as well. Going strong Cas. 6 more days to go. Well… for life really..
Like others, I have found that I can pick up a few things and just a few seconds and throw them away or set them over in a donation box, etc. I need to find out when the animal shelter is open so I can take them this big pile of blankets, sheets, etc. I don't think they are open when I get off work at 4:30. They are open on Saturdays. I can take those things to my car and put them in the trunk they will be out of my house. 😊
We keep the big areas like living rooms and garage decluttered but just got the hubs to clean out his night stand! Watching this series has helped me tackle the little hidden clutter spaces. Thanks!
Regarding the recycle bin, I sit whenever I can. The boxes could have been flattened inside the house and carried out to the can. Or she could do ad I do and put loose recyclables inside the box. Finally, I use the large boxes for donations because I don't need the box anyway. I do watch these videos passively because my health is really bad right now. I'm going to print out the pages and save them for the future when I'm feeling better.
Yay! No garage, do I did the car! I have never ever used anything in the glove compartment! It’s incredible what was in there! And the storage pockets in the mouse hole! Put away the summer stuff, put in the scrappers, so I’m ready for the first frost!
We have hazardous waste pickup on Saturday, so this was perfect. Our box of 10 items is boxed and ready for Saturday. Next week we are doing our annual, get the garage ready to park back in there before the white shit comes. I also got 2 huge hoses roller up into the trash, which comes tomorrow
I don't even have a garage but i love watching your excitement about cleaning. I also have gained a little weight back after VSG and my goodness Im a Bee/Bug, i think we are soul sisters. LOL I once was attacked while i was putting together my IKEA bed.... ya, was all alone.
✅done 2 days ago. I posted before and after photos on fb on the video post that you put up. Thankyou! All this decluttering I was doing for myself has inspired my husband and that if nothing else is wonderful ❤️ 🤣 Recycling bin epidemic, of dear!
Got ride of 30 things. This is very helpful! I need to spend more time in the garage. The big picture is very overwhelming. Need a dumpster for the overall garage. We checked into getting a dumpster, very expensive for a week or more in California. 😊
I gently cajoled my husband into a five thing garage declutter visit …mostly his territory 😀Got rid of 8 iron hanging rods for flower pots, a bag of nuts the birds don’t like, and a bottle of some chemical. …progress !
Put that siding in the attic! Whenever you do need it, chances are, they’ll be making the size slightly smaller or larger, causing you to have to redo the entire area. Exterior or interior. That goes for tile & floor coverings… if you like yours, that is.
This has made it so easy not that I have done it in your order….but it really helps to achieve a goal. I will probably replay this series, hurt my back so soon donation car stuff needs to go down the road! Thank
Hi I'm not up to shed and the spiders there are on steroids but I have junk blowing round the garden.I will do that.its wet out but still...☔i don't have a garage.. Thankyou cas x
Now I wonder what an US-American recycling bin looks like. So, I don't have a garage. But there is this landing in front of my apartment door where I stacked 7 boxes with books that I decluttered. So I spend those 5 minutes writing an E-mail to a non-profit organisation that collects books and resells them for . Does that count? Edit: Answered my question myself and decluttered at least 30 more books that evening. Feeling accomplished now. Now I have decluttered more than 160 books. Hard!
I’ve passively watched until now, now I’ve finally saved all the previous videos and I’m going to go back to the start and do my spaces… love watching Cass
Don’t own a garage or even outdoor storage for my apartment patio. Taking on the spirit of the challenge, I tossed years worth of cell packs and little plastic containers I bought annuals in to fill my hanging baskets. I’m a single working mom/college student. I AM NOT going to use them to plant starts myself. Even if I had the room and the time, I’d rather go cheer on my kids at their spring sporting meets.
Omg 😲 i love your stories!!! I find myself looking around even before bed thinking 5 minutes 5 items .what am I doing?.it is so doable and does make the difference! Ty so much!
Took me until Day 26 to do this because I don't have a garage or shed because I'm in a condo (apartment). I knew I should substitute the boxes in my walk in closet that have nothing to do with clothes, but it's such a daunting mess that my cricket brain needed time to gear up to do it. Sane with storage unit, that I still haven't done. I hate skipping days! So today I watched the video and finally looked for trash and easy donates in the walk in closet, and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.
I admit I just sat and watched this - but I already have a pile of stuff in the garage that is leaving the house hopefully this weekend. Some things are going to our daughter and the rest goes to donations. 35+ items. :)
The second hand stores like receiving reusable shopping bags they use them my local st Vinnie uses to put purchased items in and my local good will sells them .. I think day cares might like them to send kids art projects or clothing goes home. Sweater or coat as weather warms up throughout the day.
Don't throw out reusable fabric bags! They rip eventually and you need replacements. Then they go in textile recycling or fabric recycling. Make a pile in the garage or kitchen or a closet to keep extras.
Ok Cass I did it. Just for the time your video ran and then I reached for that one item. It was just a minute more and a minute or two to clean up and wash my hands. I let go of our precious dog's ( he passed January 2 nd 2020 dog bed and pillow and penguin 🐧. I can give it to a dog shelter perhaps. I just couldn't part with it then. I may have just been ready to declutter this way. You surely do help with your way of doing it. Thank you.
I have. Plenty!! In the garage but watching this was hard! I have a broke mindset right now and seeing that band-aid container get tossed. And the top part of the rug! 🙈
I keep tool boxes and tool supplies on a wire rack, which is cluttered. Found 5 pieces of trash, a wire brush I can use for a craft project and moved an outdoor light into the donation box.
I have a one car garage that is our "shed" . Filled with 2 lawnmowers and 2 snow blowers, 2 that will get fixed or donated to a person who can fix it (but it's been 2 years) I will ask my hubby to please try to do that this year. I can do the paint and dryed up chalk and old rags.
I already commented here, but I just have to add this now! My partner has been overhearing the daily videos and is now decluttering some of his stuff too....win, win!! He texted me from work today and said, "I just want to thank you for taking the time to declutter every day...I'm noticing the difference." Woo hoo!!! Love you!❤
Well it took alot of time but we sorted two boxes....was good to have a good pile of paper to throw and shred
I feel your braveness in this area and that is how it is for me too🥰
I found your channel over a year ago and I'm so glad I did. It has helped motivate and inspire me.
Thanks for your kind words, I appreciate it so much!
Lol
We need to do a 5 minute declutter in our basement several times a day! Lol
When we moved, our garage and basement merged into one large space.
Remember old paint is hazardous waste if its not useable. If it is, sell it! @michellemorales401
This is one of the first things I do every day. I love your daily declutter videos. The stories make me laugh every time.
Glad you like them!
I've already did my garage so I did my storage room. Easy as all get out.
Double win!
It would be great if this series could have a part two or one for the whole year. Could keep us motivated and ahead of things.
@rg-mi5hhh Just repeat it. The videos are already here!
You can restart the challenge on October 1st!
I live in an apparment and dont have a couple of the rooms youve mentioned so i try and get creative with it today i did the fire escape thanks from montreal ❤❤❤
Great idea to find places that make it work for you! Way to go!
Thanks for being here and for sharing with your sis!
We don’t have an enclosed garage with stuff but the laundry / back entry / workstation area needed some love. Found multiple items and managed to WD40 some garden tools as well. Going strong Cas. 6 more days to go. Well… for life really..
Awesome!
😂my garage needs 5weeks 😂 but I did 5mins in a closet... this has been great workin with you Cass!!! Absolutely love you ❤
Yay! No garage, do I did the car! I have never ever used anything in the glove compartment! It’s incredible what was in there! And the storage pockets in the mouse hole! Put away the summer stuff, put in the scrappers, so I’m ready for the first frost!
I want to do this again next month.
You can do it as many times as you like! The videos will be here, ready to go for round 2 when you are!
Awe your poor Granny had to sit there for hours 😢 Bless her heart. Day 24 on the way out the door. ✅
I really look forward to videos. No garage so went back to paper declutter. Thx Cass😊❤
I don't even have a garage but i love watching your excitement about cleaning. I also have gained a little weight back after VSG and my goodness Im a Bee/Bug, i think we are soul sisters. LOL I once was attacked while i was putting together my IKEA bed.... ya, was all alone.
Thank you for these 5 minute declutter videos. So much has left.
You are so welcome!
Found 5 things! This is the best challenge ive ever done!!!! Thank you Cass, you are truly a blessing!
You're welcome!
Omg Dad I bet holidays with you guys are so much fun talking about these stories 😂
✅done
2 days ago. I posted before and after photos on fb on the video post that you put up.
Thankyou! All this decluttering I was doing for myself has inspired my husband and that if nothing else is wonderful ❤️
🤣 Recycling bin epidemic, of dear!
Thank you!!🧡💜💚
You're welcome!
Yaaaay❤ i am here counting down the minutes for new video 😂😂 😂
I’m the same. 😌
Got ride of 30 things. This is very helpful! I need to spend more time in the garage. The big picture is very overwhelming. Need a dumpster for the overall garage. We checked into getting a dumpster, very expensive for a week or more in California. 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Your stories are hilarious
My garage needs more than 5 minutes! 😂 We’re tackling little chunks at a time!
So are we. Our Sunday chunk so inspired my spouse that after work on Monday, he did the next chunk on his own! Already the overwhelm has receded.
@@persephonebasilissa5109 My husband has started doing it too!
Little chunks make a big difference! Good job!
I gently cajoled my husband into a five thing garage declutter visit …mostly his territory 😀Got rid of 8 iron hanging rods for flower pots, a bag of nuts the birds don’t like, and a bottle of some chemical. …progress !
Love it!!
Put that siding in the attic! Whenever you do need it, chances are, they’ll be making the size slightly smaller or larger, causing you to have to redo the entire area. Exterior or interior. That goes for tile & floor coverings… if you like yours, that is.
Thanks for the tips!
Loving this series! Went on vacation so I’m catching up:) I take my extra reusable shopping bags and use them as my “donate to Goodwill bags.” :)
Smart!
This has made it so easy not that I have done it in your order….but it really helps to achieve a goal. I will probably replay this series, hurt my back so soon donation car stuff needs to go down the road! Thank
I'm so glad it helps!
Hi I'm not up to shed and the spiders there are on steroids but I have junk blowing round the garden.I will do that.its wet out but still...☔i don't have a garage.. Thankyou cas x
Spiders that are on steroids 😂😅 oh I know what ya mean I have webs around the windows in our garage too so I'm slowing sneaking in there 😀
@@1othrocks if they get any bigger I think they will hand me the rake I want and shut the shed door on me! 😆
Hard!
Wow - that deserves a pat on the back!
i'm going to do this again starting october 1st
Awesome!
I’ve passively watched until now, now I’ve finally saved all the previous videos and I’m going to go back to the start and do my spaces… love watching Cass
Awesome! Thank you so much for saying that!
I just love her declutter and cleaning videos! 🤗
I'm so glad!
Ty so much!
You are so welcome and glad you like the stories!😅
I do too!
When I don't have a basement or garage.... I pick a doom closet 😅 definitely equivalent to the random things you find in both of those places lol 😆
Lol
Places like Salvation Army and Goodwill would love to have extra shopping bags
Thank you for the PSA (I wasn't ever planning to.) I'm sad that she had to wait so long!
That folded table behind you, is that multicoloured gorgeousness or a reflection of the colour explosion in your garden?? 😍
It's one of Joe's work tables (I think it's just reflection of the metal underside)😀
@@Clutterbug 🤣
Should be a warning on the bins. Lol.
😆
Yeppie!! Love these!!
Same!
No, garage, but plenty of other areas to choose and work on today! PS Love your stories!
I'm so glad!
❤❤❤
I've been here everyday. I don't have a garage - but I'll decide on another area to do!
Don't throw out reusable fabric bags! They rip eventually and you need replacements. Then they go in textile recycling or fabric recycling. Make a pile in the garage or kitchen or a closet to keep extras.
Thank you ! 🥰Day 24 ✅
You're welcome!
Okay i thought I could skip this one 😂 as don't have a garage (or shed) but I do have an outdoor space, so I'll now be able to do this one 🙂
I have not been looking forward to this one... I feel like it needs 5 hours. But I can do 5 minutes! Woot woot!
You've got this!
Thank you for the PSA! Now, I'll remember to never sit in a recycling bin ever 😅
You're welcome!
Love this so much
The only way I could declutter the garage, I would need to send my husband on a month long trip on his own. 😅
😏 With videos like this, there is just no excuse for clutter.
I love that!
@@Clutterbug It's the truth! 🤗
Thank you.
Ps I really had forgotten as you say that those things were in there that I let go of today
I have. Plenty!! In the garage but watching this was hard! I have a broke mindset right now and seeing that band-aid container get tossed. And the top part of the rug! 🙈
That was her donation bin!
You've got this!
Worked in my shed today.. and found 5 things in under 2 minutes without even opening anything! Im gonna need to redo this one several more times!! 😂
