- Since I've become a toping expert recently my mate Andy has been begging me to take him along and try to catch a decent sized one. The weather looked decent so we loaded the van up with gear and blasted over to Wales for a couple of days......

Great video!Fished the second spot{Belan} a few years ago.We were drifting for bass using live launce,kept getting smash ed by tope.Only about five yards from the shore!!Cheers.

How do you go about picking your rock marks - deep water with good tidal run? It didn't seem like there was much run off the first mark. Also what hooks and rig set up do you use?
Its very much trial and error at the moment with picking marks. Google Earth and picking rock areas that are protruding into the sea is a good bet as any. I've been very lucky dropping on a couple of marks that are producing tope, plus the locals have been very helpful.
Now I've caught a few I'll stick a couple of rigs in my next vid, but basically just simple pulley rigs

Yeah I've been using the same approach on the Lleyn and on Angelsey but no luck yet - travelling from Cumbria so it's difficult as you well know. I've been at it for 18 months now and will keep trying. Lots of variables aswell - Wind, tide, mark etc. Suppose if it was easy then everybody would be doing it.😂😂
@@mawky1 it’s challenging for sure. You watch vids on RUclips and it looks all sunshine and tope! 🤣 What you don’t see is the cost of fuel and driving for hours, getting to marks and it being unfishable, the punishing weather at times….

That'd be great thanks. I'll do ot through my daughters insta account - I'm a bit of and fossil when it comes to Social media as I spend all day on a laptop and phone with general work so try to avoid all the other stuff like fb etc. Whatsapps about my limit 🤣🤣

Yeah! We had a few more takes on the live baits as well but failed to hook up any more bass unfortunately 🎣
