    Was born and raised in Pwllheli.... your observations are spot on....
    We used to have a few marks that we as locals considered "secret".... Wrasse, Pollack, Ling, Bass and Conger being popular target species....
    Today the only "secret" marks left are the ones considered impossible or dangerous to get to.... where local knowledge evens the odds....
    There is still one mark I visit regularly to this day that very few people know how to reach..... don't use any fishing tackle as such there.... except a "tuppence and threepenny" double ended bar.... its used to catch Lobsters by hand at extreme low tides when rocky channels are revealed....
    The Llyn Peninsula is definitely one of the greatest hotspots for fishing in Europe and the water quality is second to none....

      Some great comment here. There are indeed huge rewards for those who are willing to find their own marks. I always used to get excited when there wasn't beaten down ferns on the way to a new mark... Your spot on in what you say and those clear waters are something special. I've heard some stories of some extraordinary catches of bass and tope from easterly facing rock ledges close to beaches but im not giving specific spots away there's definitely work required for the visiting Angler. 😉😉

      @@SaltwaterAngler its true what you said in a previous comment too.... regarding trespassing on farm land....pop in and see the farmer, they are usually friendly enough and a bribe of a handful of edible catch goes a long way....its a huge advantage if you speak Welsh, but even if you don't, just learn a few words to impress that your trying.... that goes a long way too....
      It's more than just a matter of being polite by asking....you tell the farmer your ETA for returning.... just in case something goes wrong.... I used to have a little joke with the farmer "if I'm not back by then I'm sleeping with the fishes"....
      My mate twisted his ankle one time and it delayed us by over an hour climbing off the mark.... the farmer was there waiting with his tractor.....

      @@SaltwaterAngler.... Also.... I don't mind sharing mark info....but only with individuals who respect and appreciate the risks involved and respect the marks sanctity....how many times have you visited a mark and found that the previous fisherman left a right mess there?.... always been a pet hate of mine....

    Some decent marks but the bit you called the life boat is actually the yacht club and the big sewer pipe that comes off it next to the jeti is some of the best bass fishing around. Also the beach that you said to stay well away from by abersoch is home to the bigger bass and is a go to spot in the night time.

    Sounds as if many parts would suit LRF. I'm not into beach casting, but small lures yes. What month would the chance of mackerel from the beach, and if so what beach would be best, it's a long trip down to you? I'm in the East Lincs. Thanks of the hard work you're making on our behalf.

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  7 лет назад

      On its day I would suggest the journey to the Llyn is well worth it. It hasn't been the best of years for the mackerel 2017 so far. It's a case of when they're in you'll catch them. There is a venue on the south coast that will see mackerel as early as may and out fishes most rock marks through June its hinted at in the video. But realistically July is your best bet for them. Early season is good for the Huss and you'll still get the Pollack. Deep water from rock marks takes fish. Open to other points of view here but a flooding tide seems best for me.I think the days of huge shoals (there's a legend of a shoal from one end of Aberdaron bay to the other !) are gone but Pwhelli main beach by Gimblet, Uchymynedd cilan better than North coast marks.

      @@SaltwaterAngler I wish there were - it's just very shallow gravel / sand out there these days. Always makes me laugh seeing people belting out big rigs off the rocks when even 100 yards out, they're still only fishing in 6 feet of water.

    Hi, I’m holidaying there in a couple of weeks and hope to do a bit of fishing, unfortunately I’ve got nerve damage in my leg which makes rock hopping a bit dangerous, is there any marks you could recommend near Pwllheli for the slightly disabled 👍

    where for the tope from the shore please ?

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  7 лет назад +1

      daz bate there are the countries best tope marks on this shoreline as the recent Welsh and British record has shown. There are those that have spent years keeping these marks secret for tope so i dont want to be too specific other than the usual spots which would be off Cilan, Rhiw and either side of Aberdaron ! You will find some other marks just getting out there theres a lot of walking to be done ! Have a look at wobblers post over at wsf.
