The first time I had this cucumber salad was at the original location of Din Tai Fung restaurant in Taipei! Thank you for sharing and I will try this recipe because I love this dish:)
So, we’re having ribeye steaks, corn and mashed potatoes for dinner. But, we’re missing veggies. So, I followed your recipe and it’s amazing! Thank you.
This not a criticism but an observation. I have seen western cucumber salad, Korean Kim Chi n sourkraut made. They all follow the same pattern of adding salt, letting it seat n squeeze the juice out. I am really thinking why they r throwing away the nutrients down the sink? When I eat cucumber raw, I just skin, cut them n served them w/a salad dressing over it. Nutrients, vitamins n all. Luv u Angel.
There's barely any nutrients in cucumbers to begin with, by cutting parts of it/the skin off you skip on more fiber and nutrients than salt would ever draw out with the water.I dont think people in Korea and Germany are making it that way for centuries for no reason.
Yes I love your cooking, camera work, personality etc but I would feel complete if someday I could bump into you in a market, see your smile in person and smell your perfume. Your show is magic, I always feel my stress melt away ...thank you. Hope grandma is well.
One of my favs at Din Tai Fung 💕 Hope you like 😘

This was delicious! Thank you for sharing! :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
If you add salt to draw out the liquid, won't washing it in water put it back in? I have same question with chicken and salmon.
Omg I’m totally making this!!!!! Thank you you’re the bomb dot
Healthy salad
Awesome video and recipe.... Thank you
I made this Tonight and I'm going to be making this everyday. It was so good. Chili oil was a good call!
Just curious if it may be easier to add the garlic after the rinsing and chill for another 10 min?

The process is critical as it improves the texture

Creep much?
Best!!
I wonder if this can be done for carrot and radish
If we don’t have any garlic, would garlic powder be a good alternate?
Sure!
toasted sesame oil or plain sesame oil ?
The 30 second rule? I knew you ARE Cool!!!
Use a strainer so the garlic is not washed away
Please never wash your chopped cucumber again...
