*RANDY* - would you please consider making a compilation video of your Dad's guidance on how to pick the best vegetables? He has SOOO much knowledge and having it all in one video, perhaps segmented by vegetable, would be brilliant!!
The playlists on his channel are sectioned by recipes like: cook like a chef, cantonese recipes, soups, vegetables, pork, chicken, knife skills and others. It’s very practical. I’m a huge fan of this channel, specially coming back from Beijing where I lived for a year. I love this channel ❤!
The family is growing. I see 2 cutie pies. Yah!❤❤ thanks for sharing the recipe. Will be trying out the recipe tomorrow night. Need to buy the ingredients first.😊😊
Daddy Lau you are amazing with the videos of your recipes and your expertise in cooking really shows. Randy you also do a great job contributing to narrating and translating information. Always enjoy watching and learning new Asian recipes
I made this today and literally ate the whole thing myself in one day! It is SOOOOO good! I will be making this again. Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe, Lau family :)
I love the way your Dad explains everything 😊 but hang on I haven’t watched the channel for a while, the last time there was just one baby….you guys have been busy! 😂
A tip from my mother to pick fresh cucumbers. Pinch the end of the cucumber attached to the vine. This is the first location that go soft after it has been picked. Avoid the squishy ones and you should be good
I just made this right after watching it. Such simple ingredients you always have in your fridge. Plus this recipe makes such a good salad!!! This is going to be my to go appetizer to impress from now on!
Your precious family is expanding beautifully - with so much pure and deep love coupled with good upbringing and education, they're on the right path to contributing responsibly well to society!! Bless you ALL!
Thank You ! ! One of my favorite Cantonese dishes . and so wonderfully explained . Nice to hear Cantonese spoken . After living and working in HKG and China for more than 35 years , I miss it greatly . One of the top cuisines in the world for sure . Thank You, Lo Ban Lau !
Thank you for exceptionally clear how to videos with helpful explanations of "why we do it this way" thrown in. Answering questions from viewers is a great addition which i have not seen on other channels. The greatest thing, though, is letting us virtually hang out with your beautiful family. Makes me feel like I'm learning dishes with a friend who is a patient chef, in the kitchen of a loving home. What a treasure!
I was looking for a recipe for teuk prahok and am so happy to have come across your channel. Beautiful video and beautiful and soothing narration! Great work!
Thank you for this. Cucumber salad is not something most people think of bringing to a BBQ or to a party when asked to 'bring a dish'. I reckon if I brought this to a summer pool party it would go down a treat, especially with roast chicken leftovers, baby potatoes and that sort of thing. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe with us as it's cheap, quick and easy to make and goes with so many other side dishes. Even scrambled eggs and rice I'd imagine. 😋
@@donotneed2250 Hahaha! 😄 Your comment is what I feel like screaming at my screen at 11pm, every time I foolishly topple into a culinary rabbit hole on RUclips. So many things I've never heard of, never tried to cook, never even tasted. I wish an AUTHENTIC regional Chinese restaurant would open somewhere near me so I could try PROPER Chinese food instead of Westernised takeaway junk. YUM YUM YUM!!😋
@@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293, have you seen Maangchi's videos? She's from South Korea and has easy to follow recipes. Watching her videos I've also learned the proper names and ingredients of my favorite foods I ate while stationed there between 1976 and 1980 twice.
@@donotneed2250 Oh yes! Maangchi is the OG of Korean cooking on YT, she was the 'gateway' channel for me. I love Helen's channel 'Modern Pepper' too. I cook mostly Korean and Japanese food at home but I'm open to trying more Chinese cooking as you see Chinese influence everywhere. I'm planning a trip to Ishigaki later this year...so long as China leave Taiwan alone for the foreseeable future (Ishigaki is part of the Okinawan islands but is geographically far closer to Taiwan than it is to the main body of Japan). What a turbulent time, we had it so good before the woke madness, the Big Tech/AI landscape and of course, Covid and didn't realise it. Travelling is so precious to me, here's hoping. Hope the rest of the decade is a good one for you too with much adventure and security in equal proportion. 😄🤝🗺🛫🍜💖

As usual, Daddy Lau's recipe is full of many professional techniques, such as how to mash and mince garlic. Who knew a cucumber salad is so complex. I will definitely give this one a try. Thank you.
Love smashed cucumbers salad, definitely top two salads in my book. The other is hot and sour cabbage, a recipe I wished I had learned from the chef where I used to be a hostess. I am going to try Daddy Lau’s version for sure.

I really love your videos! I so wish I had thought to capture my parents more often, especially cooking, so I appreciate learning from your dad. And I got a wonderful heart skip when he called out Hong Doy and Mui Mui as my father was called Hong Doy in his youth and I was Mui Mui. ❤️❤️
I made this salad and it was delicious. It was also tasty the next day, nicely marinated. I actually put it on a bed of lettuce and tomato and it makes a really nice tossed salad. Great recipe, thanks Mr. Lau!
Love this. I could eat this as a meal. Would like Daddy Lau's recommendation on cooking a bunch of Chinese chives besides stir frying with sauce. Thank you.
Lau Si Fu, OMG this is very scrumptious! Well suited for a hot Texas Summer! Your recipes are wonderful, thank you so very much for your time and effort. Lau Sai Low, your narration cracks me up. Were you an engineer before you followed this successful path? I really really appreciate your attention to detail. Makes your channel stand out. Thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. Wishing you long life, great health and happiness. Philip
I really liked how your dad showed his techniques for prepping. My grandmother cooked for a living and started teaching my siblings and I how to cook when we were in elementary school. While stationed in South Korea twice I'd eat in local restaurants where I could sit and watch the cooks' techniques. Sometimes my wife will watch me prepare food and ask where did I learn how to do certain things. Between my grandmother, friends on active duty who were cooks, watching cooks in South Korea and cooking shows that aren't competition shows I can come up with something to eat that might surprise whomever I'm cooking for and sometimes myself.
I planted some white cucumbers again this year. I pick them when they are pickling size (about tip of your finger to your thumb). If they get big the skin is tough and the seeds get bitter. I dice them up with tomatoes and some mozzarella cheese and Spanish olive oil. It makes a great summer salad.
