In Hungary we slice the cuccumber, salt it. Let it push out the moisture and then squeeze the slices so even more water is pushed out. We put ground pepper on it, garlic and sourcream on it. We eat it as extra side dish.
Same, I'm Korean and I make it pretty much every other week and use it as banchan (sidedish). I prefer to prep the cucumbers before using them in the recipe. Remove the cucumber innards with a spoon and salt the cucumbers and drain the liquid. Both of these help with storage as it doesn't have as much liquid at the bottom.
@PipPipS I just salted cucumber, intending to make like a cucumber kimchi kinda thing, then couldn't be asked but then thought if I dip it into gochujang maybe it'll remind me why I want to make it. Nah, it was too spicy and I officially changed my mind lmao
I made a cucumber salad of a different recipe. It didn’t go well. Wasn’t too happy about it but your video really helps me to try it differently thank you. What does msg have to do with this? I didn’t quite understand msg here. Great video! Will see your videos more often :-) 😊
I've been making the 3rd one for a long time using Chef John's recipe, my wife and I love it a lot. I will try combining the oil and vinegar next time. I want to try the other 2 as well. Looks good and would be a nice change of pace.
Just tried the first one today. I really enjoyed it! I added fresh, sliced jalapeños instead of the capers, and a good sprinkle of fudekake. Then had it with some steamed rice. It was like a sushi bowl.
this is fantastic! need to try some of these. On the topic of salad, I wondered if you could make a video on some delicious salad dressings. Some for flavor and some for dieting.
@@barbaraperkins3747 that’s what I was thinking too! I had no idea I’ve been making a viral recipe for about 10 years now lol. Except I put all those ingredients on a bagel for breakfast, it’s been my daughters favourite breakfast since she was a child. I recommend very much 😋
Salads are so versatile, can add anything to it as per the region you're in...all the above salads look so delicious...and not to be biased 😂 i also choose the DIG IN recipe...thats very much close to the indian kuchumber minus and adding few ingredients, just like the spanish cucumber salad.... A nice fun video...
I’m really used to the salad with mayo “real mayo” sugar apple cider vinegar dill weed with thinly sliced onions cukes sliced soaked in saltwater to keep crispy. Drain and mix ingredients to taste.
❤❤❤❤Love a good 🥒 cucumber salad 🥗 anything with salmon, dill, cucumbers, salt and pepper works. I would probably use this thru salmon recipe on avocado toast or a bagel. Easy delicious and clean recipe.
Love cucumber salad, all of them look great. I have made an asian inspired before as well. But my go to is, thinly sliced peeled cucumber, dill, salt, pepper, sugar, a bit of olive oils, and rice vinegar.
@@ChefJackOvens I didn’t realise you get free delivery if you spend over $35.. I spent $34… haha they are soooo good.. and such great prices.. will be my go to from now on..
Wow he has serious knife skills. 😯 But it always looks easier in the video and then when you try it at home it's like a disaster. However I love his recipes and yeah some really yummy variations there on the "cucumba" salad. The Kiffness would approve.😁
My late mother in law, made a cucumber dish, so simple but so good. Thin rounds of cucumber, thinly sliced white onion, mayo, vinegar and a pinch of sugar. Slice the cucumbers layer them into a bowl and put it in the fridge the water will leach out and pour out the water and then build it. I do not remember if there is any salt.
@@symptomoftheuniverse3862 my mother frequently made a similar cucumber salad during my childhood using same ingredients but half/half (mayo/slaw dressing) and some chopped herb.
Cucumbers, tomatoes, green peas, green or regular onions, dill, salt, ground black pepper - season with smetana. Wait 10-15 minutes for it to sit. Eat the whole salad and finish the sauce by dipping Borodinsky bread. Simply a favorite)
It is!! I've made it with and without the capers. I like it better on toasted bagel. I can't wait to try his recipe. It looks soo refreshing and I love colorful foods.
My cucumber salad go-to recipe: Sliced cucumber, rinsed. Salt Little bit of hot sauce Splash of olive oil Sprinkle on some cheese Give it all a good mix. 🥗🥒 It's easy and delicious and free of MSG. Sometimes I go wild and add some pieces of rotisserie chicken in there.
I used those and it tasted good also I added some lemon juice just bc I like the taste and put in A LOT OF CHILLI FLAKES if you want it actually spicy but that's personal preference you don't have to do these things
Thanks for sharing. I think I would like the Korean inspired salad best. I like cucumber. But I know my palette. I am not fond of smoked salmon. I think it all depends on what you like.
Hey chef, i’m a cucumber lover and would like to try your recipes, but where i come from, salmon and caper are like really really expensive and hard to find. So any idea to replace em? Thank you

I can definitely do that!
I made the first salad and used rosemary instead of dill. I could not find it any grocery store near me. It was really good. Thanks for the recipes.
But you can substitute dry dill for the fresh, it's delicious too
Brother can you do a “essential cupboard stuffs” video, stuff that you always make sure you have and can use for multiple recipes etc
Let me see what I can come up with
