Yo man Thanks for taking the time out and posting an install video like this. The community needs more vids like this for the DYI folks. I helped a buddy of mine with his ETS 6466 install while the motor was out the car and it was much easier. I am Jealous that you guys are able to drop the turbo in from the top fully assembled. My turbo requires taking off the comrpessor cover in order to fit between the valve cover and firewall. I love the fact that ETS welded a piece on the dump tubes so that they can bolt together at the bottom. I feel like the Speed Circuit heat shield might be best for stock frame setups. I went with a Driven Fab heat shield on my setup and my friend just reused the stock firewall heat shielding like you displayed in your video. We gold tape his entire firewall for good measure and all has been well. I had some trouble plumbing the wastegate lines correctly, but eventually got it sorted. I remember searching you tube for vids like this and had a hard time finding any. Good stuff man, Keep up the good content that you provide.
k3nto240 Thanks for the support man and great to hear your giving back to the community too. I have the same problem in not finding clear cut instructions on the wastegate lines and more and that’s my big motivation to show all this stuff. Want to help out where I can 👌🏼 you can expect the content to keep flowing!
Yo that kit is about to make some serious power! Looks great! I highly recommend ditching those metal zip ties on the turbo manifold for the heat wrap and using worm gear clamps you can just find at lowes or HD They work 10x better for the long run
Just started watching your content and I’m already loving it! My X has a t3 setup with a turbo smart waste gate and a hood dump but the air flow isnt good at all. Might have to switch to one of the setups you’re running for sure.
Holy smokes i just when through all of your videos since the first one man i love you white evo looks awesome. One day for sure i will buy my self one maybe in red. Honetly i love the sidewinder better it just looks so much nicer. Hope to see a vid of the heat wrap you do for the sidewinder. Looks good man.
Jonathan Irizarry Thanks for watching man! I love the sidewinder more too! Looks much better imo. If your looking for me heat wrapping the sidewinder kit I already did a video here -> ruclips.net/video/3L9RCPzQh0k/видео.html
Hi man yea i already saw this video i mean more like the heat wraping with like the silver heat shield that you installed in a few places so the heat did not melt like the silicone lines and stuff
Chris M Yes 100% planning it just waiting on the car I’m doing it on to get fixed. Had a small problem right before we had a kit install planned unfortunately.
my only beef with the X is the turbo being near the firewall. it took me fucking days to replace a goddamn turbo gasket on mine since I had to get out the angle grinder to get my bolts off. absolute headache!
Debating if I should run a turbo blanket or not with my setup. I have a red spec, map manifold and aluminum valve cover. I've heard mixed reviews on the using a turbo blanket.. Would like to hear your opinion on them
GarrettWingu So I’ve ran with them and without. I’d the turbo is thermal coated already I’d avoid a blanket because then it’s holding to much heat in and could be bad for the internals and be practically cooking the oil but if it doesn’t have the coating I think they are great for maintaining radiant heat. I love them when you can use them. You can literally put your hand on the hot side of the turbo while its running with one on just showing how much heat is not being exposed in that engine bay helping everything
Was anything done to the motor? I think I might just go this route and save money not doing map manifold and mhi 18k turbo. Keep it on a conservative tune until motor gets built.
Tiyai The blue Evo is currently 100% stock motor. Save the money towards the bigger stuff for you end goal. Don’t wanna spend money twice 👍🏼 also big turbo kits are great at keeping low torque for engine safety but producing LOTS of HP!
Tiyai You won’t be disappointed going bigger and then just knowing some more engine supporting mods all you have to do is turn it up with the same set up for lots more. Big turbo set ups ftw!
Anytime i see "xtra_slo" i like the video before i even watch. your videos are always awesome thanks alot...just wanna know if this turbo kit will work on my 2009 lancer.
tpumpiscmibicv Thanks, I think the blue spring??? Rule of thumb is dual wastegates get a spring rate 1/3 of desired boost level and single wastegate get 1/2 for the psi goal.
For someone building a Ralliart, there aren't a ton of kits available for them (which makes sense.. why buy a Ralliart when you can buy an Evo). Do you think this kit would be worth putting on a Ralliart?
Sean Lowe Think this is a huge turbo kit for anyone not trying to build the motor and make above average power. I believe the ralliart is a 4b11 still but softened up so idk why you could mod it I’m a similar fashion... maybe a smaller set up
Petah PTR I also get a similar code. Think you have the rich bank 1 code. My tuner has advised me it’s nothing and I can just clear it and the cars been running perfect during the code showing so must be true. Think your good just keep a cheap obd2 code scanner to erase it when needed but you could also speak to your tuner as well to confirm
Ditch that valve cover! You just spent all that $$ on a nice turbo kit, spent the extra couple hundred and ditch the plastic to avoid melting it or starting a fire :) Nice clean install. What kind of power are you looking to make?
Matt Hinzel Yea I did the aluminum cover for my sidewinder turbo kit being so close to the cover. With the ets being top mount the runners are below far away from the cover so only heat I’m worried about is from the hot side of the turbo which the ptp lava blanket protects so well you can literally put your hand on it while it’s hot. Dyno just happened heat was super well maintained and then has been driven 500+ miles with no issues and being checked after every drive. It honestly is protected so good I swear more heat came off the stock set up ( maybe not literally lol) That being said would still be a good idea just for peace of mind 👍🏼 far as power, stock motor and low boost until the motors built looking in the 500’s right now. Dyno tune video out soon to show actual
God Mode just like the last response it depends on your end goal. If full bolt on power levels are the end goal do that but if your wanting more eventually then do a higher turbo set up you can turn up over time when the motor build can support it. Last thing you want is to buy two different set ups threw your build goal
stidriver18 18 would have to go SD tune if he wanted VTA BOV. At least what’s needed for a subaru. Assuming with MAF on an evo would need speed density tuned just the same to run a VTA bov. My guess.
stidriver18 18 You don’t need speed density to run a open atmosphere bov. I run the tial Q on my white Evo with the sidewinder kit with no issues. Recirculate is how the stock ones run and ets made there kit the same. Don’t think ones better then the other and now I’ve driven and made power with both and only thing I like more about my Q or the Qr is more sound with the Q. Nothing performance wise
At least with subbies it’s recommended going SD for VTA bov because the MAF can’t account for the air when it’s not recirculated and causes a rich condition when you shift. It’s very minimal, prob doesn’t harm anything, and I have seen many run them on a MAF tune.

What wastegate spring did you use for his setup? How did you get the firing ring to compress so easily when mounting the dump tubes?
Hope soon i can build mine too i’m inspired🤟🏽

So out of two turbo kits which one do you personally prefer? (Side winder or the ETS??
For your coolant lines what are the size of those banjo bolt I need some for my 6466
Got an 8 and curious to see how long the engine lasts at this power level
SlowV8Fiero My White Evo has lasted at the same power level for now 2 years. Stock block. Good tuner and great low torque control helps this a lot

It doesn’t fit even close after you install the turbo
Any catch can?
Hows the turbo lag with this kit vs stock?
How do you not have a check engine light on your build? Lol do you turn off the O2 sensor or?
Petah PTR The cars are tuned after big installs like this
Xtra_Slo of course. I have mine tuned too. I still get a 0172 code though regardless lol

What size is that intake 3 or 4in?
4 inch
DannyBoost 4” which naturally comes with the ets kit
So what do you do if you have a non coolant line turbo? Where do the water lines go?
Route them to each other so it just recirculates. You could cap them but that risks leaking
Ditch that valve cover! You just spent all that $$ on a nice turbo kit, spent the extra couple hundred and ditch the plastic to avoid melting it or starting a fire :)
Nice clean install. What kind of power are you looking to make?

is the upper intercooler pipe and air intake the same one they made for stock replacement?
No this is a much larger intake and the piping is to fit a big turbo on the top mount turbo manifold. They make the same for a stock turbo set up
thinking of getting this. do you really need to get it tune after this?
Yes it’s will 100% need a tune
