Liked and subbed, I am in the process to return my DJI FPV combo drone that I had for 14 days. I have been flying DJI drones for a long time and did some slow FPV on my Phantom 1 many years ago. So when the DJI FPV dropped I jumped. After flying the DJI FPV drone I realised that I really need a smaller cheaper drone for getting into the FPV flying. So back goes the DJI FPV drone and I am getting a mini2 for my normal shooting and then this little BetaFPV for getting the hang of FPV flight. Its lighter, cheaper and easier to fix. Thanks for a great video.
I purchased a Mavic clone for the purpose of doing home and property inspection. I haven't gotten the hang of it yet. My goal is to use the drone to check for clogged gutters and roof damage due to storms. The problem i see is it doesn't stay steady while hovering. Have crashed it several times but not to the point of doing damage. As soon as it goes down everything gets shut off. Still working with it. Recently got its camera to work and now to record video.
Hey captain, just wanted to say thanks for the FPV for beginners video! I got some fatsharks attitude 5 a radio master TX16S and for my first drone I got the Alpha A85 (saw from the review you made) and I had my first flight today! It was amazon, thank you so much :)!
I’m completely new to this and honestly I think I’m sold on this one. Can you tell me either what batteries you can use as replacements or any higher capacity batteries?
Hmmm.. not sure about the timelines and product releases here, but the Emax goggles do have the capability to record video. And as a fairly new glasses wearer (farsighted now at 54) I kind of like that the screen / monitor on the emax is removeable from the goggle housing to mount on the transmitter if I needed that. I'd hate to get a pair of goggles that I can't use cuz I can't see the display accurately enough to fly, then stuck with a useless drone unless I spend buku bucks on kooky goggles like you have, and for a newbie, that's a seriously discouraging thought. Still kicking around which drone to get as my first virgin taking unit. lol I LOVE the idea of the goggles and the FPV idea, because with helis, I have a hard time with orientation. I can't help the feeling if I had goggles on, and had that "FPV" view, I'd probably do a lot better maybe? idunno, has yet to be seen! (pun sort of intended) Love your reviews.
@@ryalman21 Thanks F45, shame you mentioned the 'C' word. I'm almost settled on getting one. I'll PM my contact details if I can find out how! Where did you order it from? Was it the link from Captain? I'm on Facebook/Twitter/email.
This is a fun little kit, but I broke the drone's frame in 3 places and lost 3 motor mount screws in my first 2 batteries flying in a nice grassy field, so I really wish it was a little more durable. Thankfully replacement frames are only $5. Hopefully I didn't strip the screw holes in the motors. The kit appears to have been discontinued by BETAFPV, though. I should note that it still flew with the broken frame and missing screws. Note to self to better inspect the drone after each crash. (Also check the mounting screws for tightness before flying. I honestly don't know if they popped out because of the crashes or if they started loose and vibrated out. Post flight some of the screws were pretty loose.)
All of these googles/boxes that don't allow glasses are a deal killer for me. I guess I must go to the DJI digital (ouch $$$) to fly FPV... I don't really want to invest in the analog goggles with lenses because I know I won't stay analog if all goes well... great channel!
There are many places that offer this. First you need to buy GOOGLES so that you can see if anyone offers prescription lenses for them. My FATSHARK HD3 set can take prescription lenses. Then you just do a google search and you'll find places all over the world. You send them your prescription and they send you the lenses for your goggles. Mine cost $100 US for the lenses.
I’m thinking of saving for a fatshark, but i want to know the pros that make it good. 1,I wear glasses can fatshark make I see things clear. 2,I’m trying a long distance flight how far can fatshark go

This looks like a really good beginner kit I actually might try it.. A few questions sorry but I'm really new to fpv.. First off I'm a big fan of flying indoors with small drones that have protection like this one that does both! I only wear glasses for far away but I can see perfect close.. does that mean I do or don't need to wear my glasses with this? is there another kit that's a little bit more expensive than this that's a little bit better? how much more of a difference would it make if I actually spent $400 or $500 for another kit that you might recommend? I'd rather put the $200 towards a better kit if it's worth it? ----------------------------- If I were to buy this kit here is a few questions.. Do we know the top speed of this little guy and the flight time? I'm assuming the video feed is analog? And finally can you use that fpv goggles on another drone like if you use LITCHI and then connect the mavic mini? Because LITCHI has an fpv button.. FYI I CAN'T WAIT FOR DJI TO RELEASE THE SDK FOR THE MAVIC AIR 2 SO I CAN USE LITCHI FOR FPV AND WAYPOINTS.. man I can't believe they don't have waypoints for the mavic air 2 waypoints are in cheap $200 drones now there's no excuse for that. I was just getting into waypoints with MAVIC PRO and LITCH right before I bought the mavic air 2.. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED MAKING A MISSION WITHOUT EVEN TURNING ON THE MAVIC PRO AND THEN STARTING THE MISSION IN THE DRONE TOOK OFF DOING ITS MISSION WITHOUT ME TOUCHING ANYTHING!! Then of course DJI for some weird probably billion dollar Monopoly company reason they didn't include waypoints like there are on the mavic 2 pro.. nickel and diamond their customers in my opinion!! COME ON DJI!!
Does the Advance kit come with the FRSKY remote or is it the Bayang like the starter kit?that would be a good reason to buy this over the starter, you can use it on other drones in the future. Is USB accessible on the quad?
CAPTAIN DRONE I looked it up and the advance comes with the remote with the FRSKY antenna while the starter kit ($130) remote comes with the Bayang antenna, so this is another upgrade, not just the quad. You could bind future quads to this remote unlike the starter kit version.
In the FPV world, 3 or 4 mins is normal. If you try to increase that time with larger batteries your extra weight will still reduce the flight time for such a small drone. FPV is a very different world and allows for every conceivable configuration. Very different from the beginner camera drones which come in one configuration and are all proprietary.

Great review as always. ! I’m slowly buying equipment for FPV. Can I buy this drone, or one similar, and use it with my Flysky FS-i6 ? I’m pretty sure I could use this drone with my Viper goggles. Thanks for what you do Captain.
Could you connect these goggles and controller to a 5inch drone for cinematic style filming later on? Would there be limitations in terms of range? Or would I be better off buying a frsky controller if that is my intention later on down the road?
Googles YES, controller NOPE. If you want to get into FPV later, then you will need a RADIO... like a RADIOMASTER TX16S and a quality set of goggles that will let you fly long range, like FATSHARKS.
If they made a beginner kit with an drone that could lift a go pro 8 , under 250 gram, then they would have come a long way. Is there any FPV drones that can be used for this with this kit?
Those that do lift GoPros often only lift the naked ones (GoPros with their outer shell removed). That is so that the drone can still fly well and meet the sub-250 g requirement. You're going to have to wait a good deal longer for small drones to regularly lift a full GoPro without going over the sub-250 g sweet spot. In the meantime, you could consider Flywoo's Explorer LR drone, which can be ordered with a mount for an Insta360 GO action camera. (It's a smaller action camera so there's no need to strip off the protective shell.) This camera might not be quite as good as GoPro's premium offerings, but it still beats whatever video you'll record via the drone's built-in camera any day every day. Captain Drone did a review of this particular drone not too long ago so it's worth checking out.
Steve would the recording on the sd card also have the static lines mentioned by others or would the recording when played back on your computer be clearer ? I noticed the black dot over the sun which usually means low quality camera. Would it be 480 or 360 or worse?
It is the opposite. When you fly FPV, you don't really notice any static unless you go out of range. What gets recorded is static that you did not see while flying. The black dot over the sun is normal for tiny cameras, they black out the item that is over-exposed since their sensor can't handle it.
The kit has its PLUS and MINUS. I like the eMAX Tiny Hawk II, but the googles in the BETAFPV kit and controller are better than what comes in the EMAX kit, so there is no clear winner.
just received my kit using your recommendation. I am a newbie, so LOOK OUT ! ! ! Steve, how did you make it flip ? Great videos, keep up the good work.

CAPTAIN DRONE I looked it up and the advance comes with the remote with the FRSKY antenna while the starter kit ($130) remote comes with the Bayang antenna, so this is another upgrade, not just the quad. You could bind future quads to this remote unlike the starter kit version.

What;s the maximum range on this tiny drone? Is it 100 meters before it goes out of range of controller?
Probably 200 meters max based on the tiny antenna in the drone.
You are a rich man nice house and nice car 😊
Thanks... Actually, I'm an old man who has worked hard for much to long so that I could retire.... Now I just need to retire :-)
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 woow you really did well and it's so impressive. Most of youths these days they always want fast cash and think its just easy.
Anyway few years ago I started my company and I really understand how hard it is to work hard everyday😢 ENJOY YOUR RETIREMENT and keep HELPING YOUNGER GENERATION 👌🇬🇧
CAPTAIN DRONE Will you stop calling yourself an old man. I would not care so much if we weren't the same age. 😎
Great review as always. ! I’m slowly buying equipment for FPV. Can I buy this drone, or one similar, and use it with my Flysky FS-i6 ? I’m pretty sure I could use this drone with my Viper goggles. Thanks for what you do Captain.
Yes, check the BETAFPV site.
Have u ever reviewed the fatshark fpv kit
The advanced list also comes with an FrSky ready radio, and the normal one doesn’t
If they made a beginner kit with an drone that could lift a go pro 8 , under 250 gram, then they would have come a long way. Is there any FPV drones that can be used for this with this kit?
Drones under 250 grams rarely lift store bought GoPros
Cool video!
If the controller is as bad as everyone is saying. That buzz saw alone will scare people away. And back to camera drones.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 ok thanks for the reply
A great video as usual. My question is. Can you use the goggle for Mavic mini? Thank!
Nope, because the MAVIC MINI is not an FPV drone.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks!
@Captain Drone. If you are a beginner and its easy for you to fly a mavi mini. What FPV drone would you start with?
You only have the choice between the EMAX kit and the BETAFPV kit.
is it better than the emax tiny hawk?
The kit has its PLUS and MINUS. I like the eMAX Tiny Hawk II, but the googles in the BETAFPV kit and controller are better than what comes in the EMAX kit, so there is no clear winner.
Thanks. You sir just got a new subscriber, and I don't even own a drone....yet. I think might spend the money and go with dji mini.
Does it need betafly? Plz answer
Nope
just received my kit using your recommendation. I am a newbie, so LOOK OUT ! ! ! Steve, how did you make it flip ? Great videos, keep up the good work.
