Great reaction as always. Don't forget The Mummy Returns. It wraps this story up and is just as fun as this one. Tad more serious, but I think both movies balance themselves out.
If you love Oded Fehr playing the Mejai (the guy with the black tattoos on his face) watch The Mummy Returns too, he gets a slightly bigger role and it's a very fun sequel. (But avoid Mummy 3.)

The striking a match on anything and everything to light it was possible (as long as you get enough friction) with the earliest matches. I don't know when exactly it changed, but after a certain point they removed one of the necessary ingredients from the heads of the matches and put it in the patches on the boxes so matches can't ignite from friction alone. Because what happens if you shake a box of matches a bit too much, and they ignite each other...
i really love all the shadow scenes, it's an old movie trick and something you don't see nowadays and a way to get pass any censors and rating issues for a family movie
Camels are so darn sweet. We went to an animal sanctuary for my birthday and they had a field with camels, emus, horses, goats, and donkeys that could all be pet. One of the camels came right up to me for a neck scratch.
My late wife and I caught this one in the movie theatre upon its release and we both enjoyed it much and his other performances dating back to "Encino Man". Debbie was employed @ a CPA firm for a time and Brendan Fraser happened to be one of the clients there; she met up w/ him on several occasions when he'd pop into the office and @ one point in time she even secured his autograph (this being about the point when this film premiered), and so for me that notepad-sized sheet of paper is now a special possession I've "inherited" from her.
I love this movie! And your reaction to it is perfect! But, consider this - an action movie with virtually no blood. a romance movie with one kiss. a bad guy that just wanted the love of his (after)life back. Yep, they don't make them like this any more!
If you are down for cheesy horror from the late 90s early 2k then Deep Rising is awesome, and the guy that plays Beni in this movie is absolutely lovable in it.
One of the funniest details I've seen anyone point out about this movie is that the eyes the mummy took were from a guy with horrible vision (he was crawling around looking for his glasses), which could explain why he thought Evie was his lover, or at least looked more like her than she really does.
I suspect it was less to do with the guy having eyes that didn't work, and more to do with the fact that after 3000 years, any woman would look like yours.
They didn't take any stuff. It was Benny doing it. If he would left with the camel he would have survived but his greed was to strong. So the spoils went to Evelyn and Rick.
I was lucky enough to watch this in the theaters, way back when I was a teenager. 1999 was such an incredible year for movies. It doesn't feel that long ago...
When the sequel came out I took a friend of mine to see it. While waiting in line she admitted she had never seen the first one so I gave her a 20 minute chronological breakdown of the first. I could tell that people around us were listening because they all quoted down and were nodding when I got to important parts.
Hey, great reaction!! 👍 Gosh, I remember seeing this at the cinema back in the day lol and I’ve loved it ever since. If you love this then you’ll love Deep Rising (1998). It was directed by Stephen Sommers who funny enough directed this movie as well and it too also stars Kevin J. O’Connor who stars as Beni in “The Mummy” but as a far more sympathetic and humorous character. 😀
Yay. Such an awesome movie to make an reaction video on. This movie will always be a favorite of mines. I always loved the mixture of horror and humor. It always felt natural and not forced. You can tell that the movie didn’t have to stop for a funny moment.
1999 I was 1, so I didn’t see this movie till I was at least 6 or 7 years old. I believe the scene with the book cases was only one take because if they had messed up it would’ve taken hours to put back together
The bisexual awakening for a whole generation. Brendan and Rachel did things to me when I was young and now... well. Yeah the bi panic is still real everytime I watch this :D
Saw this and the sequel (there is only one sequel just like Terminator, right? RIGHT!?) in the theatre on release and have loved them ever since. Just good ole' adventure fun with an awesome cast having so much fun with what they're doing and doing it so well. And I might have had a BIT of a crush on Rachel Weisz after seeing the first one. 😊

My dad told me that years ago with his brother in the very early 70s or very late 60s (I forget), they lit matches on pretty much anything rough. He even saw his cousin light a match using his face like in the movies but it would burn him each time he did it. He said it always scared him and his brother so they never tried it.
Brendan Fraser really is a great actor. I'm so glad that he's having a resurgence. "The Mummy," "Blast From the Past," and "Bedazzled" are my favorites of his. (Elizabeth Hurley as Satan. *drool*)

I'm really glad he making a comeback he's been through a lot. You mentioned going to Morocco I haven't been myself but I hear Gibraltar is absolutely amazing gorgeous scenery a melting pot of amazing food beautiful beaches.
21:16 To be fair. If the curse said "Will develop a mild rash on his or her heinie." It probably wouldn't bother an awful lot of people - I'm pretty sure people in ancient times all the way up to 1923 were pretty used to rashes, boils and sores
Hi Kaiielle I really love your reaction to mummy's this is my favorite Brendan Fraser movie !!! Plus now you and Sam have watched this movie on both your channels I'm Still excited that you and Sam got to join together to watch lethal weapon together I hope you both watched something else again together soon.
Seconding (thirding? etc) the comments for Encino Man, Blast From The Past, and Bedazzled, they're all wonderful and he's so charming in all of them. I also recommend Airheads for something a bit different with Brendan, but it's still great and pokes a lot of fun at the music industry, especially the rock/metal scene of the mid-to-late 90s.
The computer graphics for The Mummy were cutting edge. Industrial Light & Magic really pushed themselves with the character modeling and particle physics. The sandstorm was groundbreaking at the time because it required so much computer power to render it. Yes, with "strike anywhere" matches, it's possible to light a match against a cheek, but the cheek needs to be rough to provide friction. I was an old trick back in the day to light a match on the side of an unshaven face. It hurts and takes practice... not worth it lol
Great reaction, to a great flick. Definitely agree that the effects largely hold up. I was in high school in 2001, when this movie and DVDs were both pretty new. I was in a Film Studies class and this movie was the focus of our Visual Effects unit. My teacher played all the special features for us, they broke down all the practical effects and CG, which was all super cutting edge. It's definitely up there with Jurassic Park and Terminator 2 for early uses of CG that still looks good today, where so many others from that era really don't.
🩻🩻🩻 Fun flick! Thanks for watching with me!

I also recommend Airheads for something a bit different with Brendan, but it's still great and pokes a lot of fun at the music industry, especially the rock/metal scene of the mid-to-late 90s.
Make sure to suggest these into my form! 😊
Now for Mummy 2 😊
Now you gotta watch the mummy 2 which is just as good and fun as this one, and please don't watch the 3rd movie, it sucks lol.
The plagues locus, water to blood darkness (the sun part)hale ice and fire and disease/boils I think that all the movie covered
are you my mummy?
For some reason no one picks "Blast from the Past"
Also with Brendan Fraser
Damn shame given the great cast and story
The computer graphics for The Mummy were cutting edge. Industrial Light & Magic really pushed themselves with the character modeling and particle physics. The sandstorm was groundbreaking at the time because it required so much computer power to render it.
Yes, with "strike anywhere" matches, it's possible to light a match against a cheek, but the cheek needs to be rough to provide friction. I was an old trick back in the day to light a match on the side of an unshaven face. It hurts and takes practice... not worth it lol
An ox on a moon lol
You can light a match with beard stubble. But not with current day safety matches
So...what percentage did the 90s win with? 😮 jk😂😂
You should watch the mummy returns and the mummy Tomb of the dragon emperor
I was merely in middle school when this came out but then started watching it during the earlier 2000s lol
the 25% guy is Omid Djalili he is a well known actor/comedian/writer from Britain
Mrs. Winterbourne is an awesome Brandon Movie......
Blast from the past is another great Brendan Fraser. I think you would like it.
25:35- Hey, she was right. That's what they say about the Terminator.
