Pretty sure this is my issue, get a twisting spring sound when turning left or right, Jack car up it makes no nose only does it under load, only started when I change worms shock and spring
Could a strut mount also cause noise while driving? My sienna has a bad strut mount already know that, but while driving over 30+ mph it creates a noise all the time. I've narrowed it down to the strut, the strut looks to be fine.
Installed a pair of KYB's Strut-Plus ready struts on my 2012 Toyota Prius, 2nd pair by the way. These struts are making creak and squeak noises when steering at low speeds. This is the case with both sets received and stalled. Have you heard of bad mounts on new struts? It is my understanding that although KYB is the OEM for Toyota, Toyota does not use their mounts, I think I see why.
It's very possible to have bad mounts on new struts. But, it's pretty rare that your get two sets with the same problem.. You may need to be looking elsewhere for the source of your noise.
I installed brand new KYB Strut Plus units on my car and found that they now have a springy Clunk noise at the first instance of steering now. It only happens for the first few minutes when I drive. I have worked countless hours on this. Replaced Sway Bar's, Re-Torqued under load and followed all of KYB's support tech info plus trying to spray white Lithium grease into the bearing assembly from the side (Yes, they told me to do that too, and still have that springy clunk when I first steer the car left to right. 2009 Honda CRV and the issue was never present with the OEM strut assembly. Can anyone give me some advice here? I feel like KYB should be sued due to all the time I have spent on this plus 2 Wheel Alignments after the post work done.......beyond frustrated.
I have a bad strut mount bearing on my Cadillac 2006 DTS , does this mean I will also need a new or used strut ?? Just had 2 struts from a salvage place about a yr ago ??????? Ty
I have a video on my page if anyone wants to check out. It’s my F-150, making a squeal or squeaking noise only when turning under load. I’ve been told it’s the strut mount. There is no knocking whatsoever

Interesting. I never before saw the bearing dissembled. Thank you for sharing.
You are welcome!
Super excellent video. I was wondering about how a strutt mount bearing works.

Great video showing the mechanism. Thanks a lot. Very educational, slowly building up my mechanical knowledge of cars up!
I bought a set of quick struts but they are tight at the top and don't turn easy like you show..i have not installed them yet.is that normal..

I don't know. You'll need to find out if they are bad I guess.
Wow! Thanks!
