I live 2km from the M4 Reservior Road entrance to the M4. The Motorway is 100km/h and 90km/h for most of its length (the total distance is less than 38km). Don’t call anyone out before trying it. Not IMPOSSIBLE at all. I’ve done it. The newly finished fly-over to the international terminal from the tunnel is brilliant….Obviously my airport run was not in peak hour on a week day. Apparently some have a very low threshold for what they view as impossible. 😁
I arrive and depart internationally a couple of times a year. I approach from Newcastle North Connex via tunnel and around the south of the airport. It is so nice to see your video... this is going to be helpful. Thank you.
I've been travelling for decades to the airport international terminal today there's very little remnants of the old familiar Roadways to those destinations. Certainly a complex series of twist and turns to navigate to your destinations miss your turn and you're gonna be in a pickle no turning... back! But I have to admit certainly it's a very nice flow, much cleaner experience overall.
Great video! I watched the arch bridge get built from the REX regional flight each week or so for a while - nice to see it done now. I might take a drive on it one day.
Such a huge improvement! The gardener’s road was usually very congested in the rush hours and this is potentially reducing the travel time by at least 5-10 mins
We've been living in Baulkham Hills for 21 years now, and most of that time the only way to drop off or pick up visitors was to drive the M2 to the airport. Then, a year or two ago the M4/M8 became an option. However, until this month it was a bit of a dilemma whether to stay on the M2 or take the M4/M8. Now, the M4/M8 is by far the best route.
Nice video! I didn't realise how crap the airport access roads were until my last trip over there. At that time Google took me to the international terminal from the CBD via the M5 and a few traffic lights around the western side, which seemed a bit convoluted. I'm still not completely familiar with it all, but it looks much better if you're coming via the M8 now!
@@GreatAussieDrives - Newcastle Jesmond Rankin Park coming along nicely. Ditto M1 to M1 Raymond Terrace - missing link. Singleton bypass should be four traffic lanes, with M15 currently ending at Branxton to become A15, needs to become M class right up to Scone to start with.
I would assume it's likely done on purpose, just to ease that entrance into the international terminal since there's only the one lane into departures. Also that 70 to 20km/h speed limit is pretty sudden, might catch a few people out at first.
Another piece of transport infrastructure success improving Sydney, properly connected road and rail services make cities possible, congratulations Sydney another transport issue solved✌️❤️🇬🇧
This is great, but decades late ! I worked at the Airport and it was ridiculous that a major city airport was so congested to get to from any direction. The M8 helped a lot, but prior to this opening, coming from the West you got off at the St.Peter's exchange and hit a wall of traffic while you crawled through downtown Mascot. Coming from the South East is still a pain, because the M8/M5 heads slightly West on the way to Liverpool, so it's not a great help. Should of been done 20 or 30 years ago.
Worked on this Project 2022/23 Took many Pictures & Video during the Construction Phase. Looks very different now. we were telling people it was going to be toll free, looks like the Gov kept their promise.

It’s great but sucks that you can’t go from airport & exit at St Peter’s interchange to avoid driving through Mascot. Without that it’s just an extended M8 entry / exit.
