It was a blast from the past to hear Dean Barlow's name after being out of the game for the last 25 years. My fishing and match fishing days were in the 80s & 90s, and I bought the Angling Times & Anglers Mail every week. I remember reading Frank Barlow's section every week - was it called 'On the bank with Big Frank' or something like that? Anyway, I remember reading Frank's stories and seeing 'our Dean' written into a lot of his match fishing exploits, and it's nice to see him carrying on his old man's legacy because Frank was/is sorely missed 👍
Jon. I think you're the country's top angler. An inspiration to ALL fishermen. You're just as enthusiastic fishing you're local river/canal for a few roach as you are when competing in the big matches. Love that dedication and excitement you generate in all you're fishing escapades.
Same. I enjoy watching Jon now at 32 just as much as i did watching legends like rex hunt and john Wilson on a Saturday morning as a kid. Just a joy to watch.
Really enjoyed that Jon, your so cool when fishing, you don't say a lot just keep listening to others very polite, and you do it with two cameras going, big battery bank for sure. Thank you for doing this, can't wait for day two and you kick there ass.
@@JonArthur Ho’ well done, the camera looks too far away, but I assume it's remote.😃 nice to see your wife come by with a snack, on the practice run before you went, how romantic. 👍😃
Nicely fished Jon, as you say one bonus fish was all you needed its a shame about the cormorants devastating the fishery, we have the same problem at Come Abbey
@@JonArthur that’s me mate! Still fishing but no longer match fishing. I fish a lot, I now live just up the road from Shardlow. I lure fish the Trent and Derwent and started proper carp fishing last year! Still obsessed with fishing!
Great stuff as always Jon! It's a shame about those large black-winged things. I've watched them ruin many a place round my way and they're now getting brave and moving into the busy town centre areas too. It'll only be once the kingfishers and herons are affected badly by the lack of food that anything will get done I fear.
Dedication, driving 200 miles to watch the cormorants eating more fish than the anglers were catching!! Waiting for the next episode in the next one. Love the way you just remain calm where I would be nervous as hell looking to see who was beating me. Must get myself some blinkers! Another masterclass.
Thankyou Jon for sharing, we're you using different mix or slightly wetter when fishing the window feeder? A bunch of redworms certainly got you a few bites 👍
Hi Jon. I wish i had have know you were a Tamar lakes as i would have come to visit you. I moved to Devon 3yrs ago and live only 10miles from the lakes, if ever you are down this way again with your fishing you are welcome to stay. I live in a 6 bed farmhouse with plenty of space, for more info you can speak with Paul. Say hello to your Mum and Dad and Brother
Thanks Stuart, such a nice surprise to hear from you and know you're down in Devon now! It was only a week or so ago I was telling someone about that big 16lb 8oz carp I caught at Bascote fishing with Paul, which I think you photographed. I have a photo somewhere with dear old Tess in the background. Hope you are managing to do a bit of fishing down there. Tamar is a great venue and it sounds like Lower Tamar is even better if you want quality fish. I keep looking at Stafford Moor matches too, so might be in the area again next year and will be trying to make the Feeder Champs Final again for sure, so maybe I will get in touch if I do. I stopped at the Bickford Arms, Brandford Corner if you know it. All the very best and hope you are having a great time in Devon. Lovely part of the country... other than the narrow roads! :-)
@@JonArthur Hi Jon. Bickford Arms pub is only about 2 miles from where i live, Paul and Steve had a drink and a game of pool in there when i moved in. I live in a 6 bed old farmhouse just next to Beaworthy village, so plenty of room for visiting guests. Still not fished Tamar lakes yet as i normally go to the many smaller venues in the local area. You would be welcome to stay with me and my brother and 4 x cocker spaniels any time you,re fishing down this way. Madworthy is the house name EX21 5AD. Have a good Xmas Stu Horne.
After watching 3 video from the FM finals, there's a similar story being told. Fishing is below average, the birds of black death are problematic, and the organization was very good.. It's a shame Dean's 17lb was only counted as 5 lb really. Never the less, the anglers still put in a great effort. In a final that was a who's who of top names in the game, it was a forgone conclusion that the quality of performances was nothing short of excellent. With Tamar wedged firmly in an out of the way corner, a lot of those taking part had a long way to go. Thanks for showing how your weekend went Jon. TTFN.

The best fishing content on RUclips!!
Glad you think so!
@@JonArthur to bad i live in Belgium, i would be happy to pay for a coaching day with you!
I totally agree
Well done Jon!! Bring on the next round.
Great video as usual,
Thank you 🎣🎣🎣
Thanks Terry
Well done Jon, lovely bag of fish. You are a very good feeder angler.
I try
very nice video and also very nice fish especially the big bream. Thanks now just a nice video with big bream in the Great River with the long pole
That would be good. If the rivers come up again after a bit of rain I'd certainly like to go and catch some on the pole and flat float!
Another great video always learning from you
Cheers Ian
Nice vid Jon. We have anglers for Upper Tamar stay here at our campsite on Norton Farm, and they always come back happy that evening
Sounds great! I keep thinking about a tent instead of a noisy hotel!

Cheers Rob. Actually, just the one battery and staring and stopping the cameras most of the time. Far easier to film yourself feeder fishing though!

Quality Jon well done
Thanks Mike
Very well done Jon!!

FIshed there years ago for Carp on that bank, and the water was up to the grass. I had some great days on there.
The water is already back up to the grass now!
Looks like an amazing venue and a proper fishing match!
Absolutely. Are you the Carl Chetwyn I used to fish with on the cut? If so are you still fishing?

A stodgier mix in the window feeder seems best

Why was it only 5lb?
Local rules I'm afraid. I would certainly have counted it as 17lb as they are so hard to get in if you hook one.
Thaks Graham
i enjoyed that JON.
Thanks Peter!
Sorry jon i forgot to say my name Stuart Horne
They need a license to cull the birds
Never get one, bloody lefties & do-gooders.
A 12 bore would do a great job ,they are coastal birds no place on a freshwater res ,dirty things we have to drink that water
It's heart breaking to see so many in one place!
