- Hi guys for watching and this is the way to clean the VTC Valve and Strainer, sometimes the engine run rough because is out of time, but before you change the VTC Valve ant the Strainer try cleaning it out from sludge and dirt from the engine oil. This can cause insufficient oil flow.
If you have the code P1009 before you change this parts just clean them before you spend money in parts.
The serpentine belt, power steering pump and the belt tensioner need to be remove to get access the VTC Strainer and the VTC Valve is located on the side of the engine and you can use brake cleaner for this process.

Thanks for watching.
For all that work just replace the strainer - you're also renewing the gasket and preventing future oil leaks.
Thanks for posting. I got the p1009 on my accord. Great video... very helpful before I tackle my attempt.
+Jari R no problem I'm glad I help you
What’s p1009?
Cleaning the VTC sometimes helps but some times if you have the wrong oil or low oil the timing chain or tensioner goes bad and that can makes the catalytic converter bad as well, and that’s allot of money to be fix
hey everyone, definitely don't let this problem get too bad. I had rattle on cold start for a few years, and then started getting p1009. eventually this apparently caused my timing chain to stretch and cost me about 3k to get it all resolved.
When driving did it bog going pass 2600rpms
Very helpful vid Bro!!! My car nust shwed the check light - I scanned and got the P1009 code... I looked at rhe weird bolt and thioght it was stuck that way... Thanks a million - I can breathe lighter now that I know what to do!!! Its my lil ptoject for tomorrow... Also have a lil seafoam flushing hing the engine too...
Ok no problem
Had this error code on my 2011 Accord and this video 100% fixed the problem, cost me $0. Probably took me 1/2 the day, but it was worth it.
Nice
Took me like 10 mins
So I have a Honda Accord 2004 coupe manual. I’m getting the P1009 code as well, it’s causing my abs light to come on. I did erase the abs light several times but it keeps coming on after a few miles driven. Now I’m this video you are cleaning the valve. In my case, would I need to replace it because the light keeps coming on or am I just cleaning it. My mechanic says I would need to replace it if the abs light keeps coming on.
Clean it up first, if the problem still there replace it
Good video. I'm about to replace the strainer on my friend's crv so this was exactly what I was hoping to find
No problem
Clean motor !
You can get to the VTC Valve without removing the power steering pump assembly right? I just want to check my VTC Valve.
Yes
Good video…but you should have shown the valve coming out and you cleaning it…other than that…really nice job
Bullet Solano how you doing I have a Question I have now a Honda core 2012 EX Sedan 4 cylinder went on driving the car I here a Rattling noise coming from the Passenger side Front engine Is like a rattling noise Do you have an idea what it my be is a vct or the Change needs to be change
Hard guess bro, probably the alternator, or the belt tensioner
Ok the car only have 69.756 miles on it I don't now where that radke is coming from When you step on the gas in the car is movie that's when you hear the rattle next week am going to take it to the honda to see if they see what it is
Good video thanks. Is there anything to watch out for when reinstalling the power steering parts ( correct tension etc)?
Thanks, no because the tensioner is spring loaded
bro how u got that engine so *Clean* 🤯
I used to clean it every month
@@BulletSolano but how? what u use to clean it?
ruclips.net/video/OQz5hmUujsc/видео.html
I tried cleaning it… I replaced the VTT solenoid and the pressure Switch… the code still came back..
Check the connector
When this happened, did your car started to have low RPMs when idling? I think I have this problem too since I see oil up around my power steering pump area.
mine was just a maintenance on the system and I check the valve just to see the little screen
Because i have this problem nos but i will to follow your instructions thank"s
Ok no problem
I have to replace my vtc gasket, do you need to drain the oil to do this job?
No just check the level afterwards
@@BulletSolano awesome. Thanks!!
No problem
Hi, my car makes grinding noise during cold start. Can it be the VTC?
+ImwithZEROaimer have you check your pulley?
Yes, pulley good. It only grinds for 1-2 secs during cold start.
+ImwithZEROaimer maybe but I don't think that's the problem but you can check the VTC and clean it
my car makes grinding noise on cold start........is that going to work
+Bilal Asghar remove the vtc and test it to see if it works
Mine made a rattle noise when cold start it doesn’t have any check engine have any idea 💡 of what it can be
Probably timing chain
Vtc actuator. It's normal. It's the actual intake cam gear.
rveasna22 yeah that’s what one of my friends told me thanks
La valvula vtc pregunta..ase que suene cuando esta dañada las punterias?
No creo bro, no me a pasado a mi
I hate to tell you this after the fact but you don't have to remove all that stuff to get to it. 😆
You like 6 years late for that 😂😂 don’t worry I’ll be fine
Change the gasket out not clean it
I don"t ser when you clean the valvule
I didn’t show that because that’s really just putting some throttle body cleaner on it I tried to show how to get to the valve
Will the noise on start up goes away after this maintenance. ?
Yes
