imposter syndrome is SO REAL! i think that ties back in a lot to your first question- all of us out here have imposter syndrome because we don't realize everyone else is working so hard!
Same. I’ve never been comfortable with my math, but I took Precal and did fairly good in freshman year of college. I used to feel like I had good logical skills since I played chess in highschool. When I took calculus 1 I wasn’t really doing the work, I wasn’t studying at all, and then I stopped attending class altogether. At the end of the semester the professor whom saw potential in me gave me another opportunity to complete the course and take the final test which was 70% of the class grade since it was a departmental final. I had over 4 months to prepare for the test and complete the remaining assignments for the course but I didn’t do anything because I thought I suck at math and wouldn’t be able to pass the test. I almost dropped out of college at that point, but I decided to continue and changed my major from computer science to healthcare administration. I graduated last year in may and to this day that is my biggest regret, that I didn’t work hard enough and goofed around, and I didn’t chase after my dreams. Always believe that you can and you will, that’s the biggest lesson I’ve learned from all of this.
Currently a bio major on a pre med track. COVID had me rethinking my career choices this past year and now looking at switching to computer science. This was some really good insight! Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it! If you’re on the fence about switching and haven’t taken a CS class, I’d highly recommend taking one just to see how you like it 🤗
@@WarmNapkin I switched majors two months ago from mathematics and am really excited. Everybody wants to switch to it though so the competition to get in is getting tighter. It can take over a couple hours to debug an issue, while actually modifying the code to fix the root cause takes maybe three minutes. Can I go to college for a bachelors degree with the Computer Science degree and still make quite a bit of money with the degree or do I have to go to college for more than 4 yeara for that.
Nope, you really just need a bachelors degree for most careers! Some roles like a data scientist or user researcher might require a higher degree, but for SWE, you would just need a bachelors!
Hi .. For UK universities, is Triple Science compulsory subject if you r majoring in CS?
What laptops do u recommend
What do you reccommend and why?
Computer Science or Software engineering?
My major is finance, I want to take a minor in CS but I'm not sure if I could do it.
I would definitely recommend taking a CS course and seeing how you like it!
I just switched from Finance to CS. Going all in
@@Derbb How was the transition into CS
@@Derbb please how did you like it?
Congratulations on graduating!
This is sooo accurate😭😭literally 70% maths/applied maths and 30% cs, lol...The frustration??The imposter syndrome??absolutely hectic🚮
if you are ok in math is it still possible to pursue computer science
@@______yawn6419 what do you mean “okay”?😂
@@tshiamomadikgetla931 like you usually get Bs or Cs
@@______yawn6419 ohh yea, that’s perfectly fine
thanks im really on the fence about doing this
I suck at math. Should I switch my major I start college in a month .. now I’m rethinking
No! Definitely give your intro CS and math class a try this semester & see how you like it 🤗
Update??? Is there a lot of math or😭
Can I do a computer science diploma and not a degree and will I still be able to make money without a degree?
Hmmmm I’m actually not too sure! Most jobs I’ve seen want a degree, but I’m sure there are jobs out there that are fine with just a diploma
How much coding do I need to know before starting a cs major
Hey! I’m currently a freshman student taking Computer Science. May I ask for any laptop brand recommendations to use? 🥺 This is a big help for me.
I just posted a video called “Freshman Guide to Computer Science” and gave a few laptop recommendations in the video! 🤗
@@adebs oh, I’m going to check it out now. Thank you so much! ♥️🥰
loved this :)=)
🤗🤗
I like math and enjoyed my stat class, but how much math is done on the job?
Honestly not that much, unless you go into data science!
Quick question; did they teach you guys the basics? Like can I study that major with little or no prior knowledge?
Yes! Lots of people come into the major without any prior knowledge of CS!!
If I want to go the hardware route in CS, will I be fine without coding experience?
Yes! You will mainly learn how to do lower level programming if you choose to major in computer engineering!
How did you pass precalcus
do you have to take chemistry and physics classes/modules?
I had to take one semester of physics, but I didn’t need to take chem!
do i need to study physics do get better job opportunities, im more interested in software engineering and coding
Nope! I only took 1 physics class, and I didn’t really apply the knowledge I learned from that class in too man other clasess
How many years did it take to finish majoring in CS?
4 years!
Thank you for responding, also, I heard that they make ALOT of money. Is that true?
Girl, I go to Georgia Tech 🐝😁
Woooo THWG!! 🐝🐝
Was covid 🙏☺️
Gg
Do i have to be passionate about it?
Not passionate necessarily, but you do you have to at least somewhat enjoy it because it’s even more difficult if you don’t!
@@adebs good to know been eyeing CS major i dropped out because i didnt just want to get a useless degree
9:11 😂
You’re so pretty! I just discovered your youtube channel, and I’m a new subscriber! I’d love it if we could support each other and be youtube friends 💞💞
Thank you! 🥰 will def check out your channel 🤗
1 thing I wish I knew before doing RUclips videos: Add a static noise filter so viewers don't get annoyed 0.1 seconds into the video
thanks for the feedback, it’s one of my older videos when i had just gotten my new camera
Why you are so beautiful 🌹
How much math is it?
Depends on what your concentration is, but I would say at least a third of your courses will be math courses!
@@adebs Can you do a video talking about the pre-calculus topics that you need to know to do well in math courses in software engineering/computer science?
1. Discrete math
2. Calculus 1-2( sometimes 3)
3. Probability & Statistics
4. Linear Algebra
@@stevens7622 How important is pre-calculus for these courses?
@@user-qy6tu9ip9v honestly precalc is not important at all tbh. You won't use much of precalc for calc 1 at least
Suggestion…. Move the camera up I could see your brain 🧠 lol
hahaha
