As a computer science major, totally agree with what you are saying about being able to do lots of creative things with a computer science degree. plus, I NEED to be able to see that instant satisfaction, it makes me work so much harder than in classes when i work forever and can't tell that anything changed.
2:10 currently taking computer science in highschool, its a 3 year course and as a senior you can get college credits for certain CS classes. So you are literally right on the nose on this part
CS Major is so much better than Bootcamps. Degree is valuable as Bootcamps offering courses only covers like 10% of what Computer Science is all about - it is a hard skill. One go to a Bootcamp to study Java that makes him Java Programmer but when you are a CS major we learned more than one Programming Language and you can land in any IT roles - Software Engineer, Technical Business Analyst, IT Manager etc
Thinking of switching my major to Computer Science...I did not know if I have what it took but I'm taking coding classes during the summer to see if I enjoy/ have a passion for it!
I’m going to be majoring in Computer Science with a concentration in Data Science. Btw I’m currently a Data Analyst at an Amazon warehouse… mainly researching issues and using premade queries this new position inspired me to go back to school to major in it to move up in this field.
Yes, start courses as Kumon but related to coding. It will be certainly cool. When I was in a high school, I bought several programming books but understood nothing.
In my opinion, CS is one of those majors that are best learned through videos and professors and not textbooks! But awesome that you brought the books in high school 🤗
Woah. I wasn’t going to comment but I think I have to. Coding is taught to third graders now (not required but taught). My sister has been using scratch and they introduced it to her at school(this was two years ago now) and they’ve used it ever since. It’s paving the way. But I don’t believe it will be required soon..
Wow that’s pretty amazing to hear that even children are learning how to code at a relatively young age! My guess is that it will probably be required sometime within the next 50 years, so not super soon, but I do think it will be added to curriculums at some point!
