@@OneSvT what if i have a degree but different field such as mechanical engineering, and i join a bootcamp and work as software engineer . do i get paid with degree level eventhough my degree is not computeri science or IT
I am not old in this field actually I am changing career from communication(journalism) to software. Covid19 taught me a lesson. Just feeling to learn, learn, learn coz this field is promising. why I love coding is flexibility, and you can set your pace to learn, and feel main part of the company you work for. It is like wisdom, if yo are a senior /junior developer for sure your are that, and it is about what you do that matters and not about connections like other areas(journalism etc). All people in this industry are like children of one mother, willing to help any time provided they are available. The list is endless.
Flexibility is one of the reasons I chose Software Engineering. Valuable knowledge that can lead to greater things like developing your own app or online store. Anything you can imagine you can create it and put it on a computer. You can even sell it and make money from it. Many doors are open for us. Im Mexican and you rarely see any Mexican/Latinos in this industry. I am hoping to become an inspiration for my people.
1. Interesting ( very ) 2. Opportunities ( tons ) 3. Pay ( lots for skilled ) 4. Working from home ( No covid, no commuting, less stress, flexible worktime ) 5. You don't look for a job ever, job looks for you. 6. Benefits, perks from companies. 7. Much less shitty managers, more respect, you are top value for a company ( good company ). 8. Disruption free ( until ~2050). 9. You bring massive value to your company, economy, society.
Would you say the same for all adjacent roles? How about the Product/Project managers? Architects? I'm trying to determine if I should actually code, or gather experience as a PM since I am more of an extrovert (and have a business background too).
Just want to take this time to thank you for your positivity! A lot of peoples videos out there are meant to be click baiting and built on fear mongering, but its good to see positivity content. Keep it up Gyasi!

I'm a CS student at a top 15 engineering school in the USA. Your videos give me to much insight into the industry. Love the content! Can you talk more about the compensation? Is ageism real? @GyasiLinje
I would say somewhat agree with @warren. Candidates who can put in the work and who have less distraction definitely. But if you have the ability to learn fast and produce results is the most important. I got my first software engineer job at 28 and I'm coming from being a truck driver.
I can tell you that you shouldn't chase compensation, because the ceiling is endless, but do fight for fair compensation. Compensation is the highest here in the U.S. and the highest are concentrated in the large metros: SF, Seattle, NYC, and to some degree, Los Angeles. It varies quite a bit and the averages skew much higher in large metros -- moresore around or slightly above the six-figure range and well into the 200k-300k range in "total annual compensation" (not base salary) at the large tech companies. But, of course, they are typically the most difficult to get into -- heavy ad-hoc, data-structures, and algorithms interviews. If you're looking for what the actual figures are particularly for some of the most well known companies across their different leveling bands you can look at the self-reported figures at www.levels.fyi/. Decisions made based on age, gender, sex, ethnicity are done all the time, but hardly explicitly. It's existed across all these dimensions, but at the end of the day, most of it still falls on technical chops or perceived technical chops

Currently on my journey towards being a software engineer also bro!
I have such an interest in programming and was definitely intimidated by the learning experience that need to face but I now am certain that this is for me thanks to this video which makes perfect sense. Much respect!
Great video! I have been wanting to learn software engineering for quite sometime because i really enjoy everything it entails. I work in the medical field and have a stable job. I want to become a software engineer because I feel very passionate about it. Your video has pushed me to pursue it.
How long did it take to become a junior software engineer?
How long did it take to become a senior software engineer?
I started programming when i was 9 years old
now im 13 and i love it
It's you again...
I’m so glad I found your channel.
Love from PDX
Okay camera-work and editing!
Ayyee appreciate it!
Wow ur gorgeous
A year ago if you would have told me I'd be working closer to data analytics and supply chain sustainablity for a large tech company I would've laughed at you. I was in the Army and thought it would last 20 years. They are starting to do cuts and I was one of them. I applied to Cisco with no way in heck I would've gotten it. It was more of those job applications you do it as a joke. Next thing you know I get interviews and an offer from them. I have ZERO experience with any data systems but they took the chance on me. I start Tuesday and I'm excited and also extremely nervous! I am self teaching myself everything so it's all overwhelming. I love watching this kind of videos because it's a new endeavor I'm on and to see others enjoy it is awesome and encouraging.
Dude that’s a blessing congrats! And I hope your enjoying it now
Nice video again bro, I am even doing speed typing trying to improve how i type and yes coffee lol. Oh yes the music is dope, nice content.
Thanks so much glad you enjoyed it!
Taking a break from Network to dabble in Software. Happy to see I already 2 key characteristics. Lofi and coffee. Subscribed.
WHY I’M STUDYING TO BECOME A SOFTWARE ENGINEER 📚💯🔥
You got this bro
@aa bbb I never had to get a degree, only boot camp. Landed a job 1 week later.
@@OneSvT how was boot camp? Was it difficult and how long did it take?
@@waterfalls8528 full-time is 3 months, and part time is 6 months.
It wasn't too difficult given how well you study and apply yourself, but the material I caught onto pretty quick since I was studying a few months prior.
Boot camp graduates can make anywhere between 45k to 90k from what I've seen. But in my area I got started at 82k.
Great reasons, flexibility is huge.
I'm currently working on my BS in computer science for software engineering. This video just inspires me to keep going💯
where do i start.... i just owned my first laptop
Same here. Into my second term now. How has it been going for you?
Bro this was really inspiring and encouraging. Thanks so much
Is there a difference between Software Development and Software Engineering? If so which is better?
No
your voice + new information + background music selection + slightly unfocused background ambiance = new subscriber
With where the future is heading towards I think this is going to be my career
1. Interesting ( very )
2. Opportunities ( tons )
3. Pay ( lots for skilled )
4. Working from home
( No covid, no commuting, less stress, flexible worktime )
As a high school student wat requirements are needed to study software engineering and as a female wat are the benefits of studying software engineering
I need to know this to lmao
as long as youre good at problem solving and open to adapt in the way you think when implementing code, then youre fine! currently a cs student :)
great video as always. thanks for your take.
Definitely earned a sub, you're going to make me want to stray away from EE 😅
This is a great video! More confirmation this is what I want to get into. :)
As a computer engineering student in my last semester of undergrad I'm glad I came across your channel bro! Always good to see another black man in the tech field.
Is computer engineering only for people considered naturally smart at math?
@@travisbickle5829 i don't think there's such a thing.

Lmao 😂 I noticed that too
Software engineering is a love-hate relationship. It really depends whether you managed to fix the bugs or not 😂
I know 😂
@@kcr6291 fixing bugs is, at the very least not a real problem though. It's a part of your job anyway. As you progress, you begin to realize that the things that keep your head pounding every time lies within people. Poor project management, haywire practices, denial of new idea and innovation, hidden agenda, smart ass colleagues, backstabbers etc etc.
@@foxns7 I'm very lucky with my current workplace then. Been working here for more than 2 years and the only thing that really stresses me out is when I encounter a problem that takes me a week before I manage to find the solution or when the client denies innovation because of budget problem. If you're encountering daily what you mentioned, just leave. They're not worth stressing out. There's a lot of better workplaces out there
Awesome video man! I'm majoring in CS next fall and super excited!

Glad to be an inspiration homie I believe in you!
You know... I'm studying the first year of a profesional grade of Software Development and I have been feeling overwhelmed recently, questioning if I could ever aspire to migrate to any other country to work or if I could even learn to programming, maybe you don't realice (or maybe yes) what you can do with this type of videos but you really fixed my insecurity with this one. Thanks, for real.
I sincerely appreciate your work on this channel dude. In the next time I would you talk about the bachelor degree. And degree master #SE Daily
I really love your video. You inspired me a lot. I just get into this industry and sometimes I get demotivated. But when I watch videos like this, it makes me motivated again. Thanks a lot man. Keep it up.👍

Woah, your wife? I didn't know you were married. Congratulations!🎉🎉🎉
The city that appears in your video (2:55) made me think of Leeds, is it Leeds by any chance?

I'm so excited to start school! Thank you!
Thanks man this helped a lot in me choosing my career
