Bamboo Airways thanks you for choosing Bamboo Airways. We hope to see you again in the future
thank you, cam on :)
I like how you were watching the screen in the row ahead of you! I had to do that on Aer Lingus because my screen didn't work. Nice shot of the sun at 12:54.
I do it all the time even if it works😂 thanks for watching!
the flight attendant that accidently spoke vietnamese to you was so sweet!! 12:40 lol...
also ive had a similar experience with someone at a cafe (in sydney!!), where she didnt understand me when i asked for water. it was so weird, and she was an english speaker too... i thought she was trying to be microagressive lol
Wow Bamboo Airlines flying out of Sydney. Never heard of them!
how good is Ho Chi Minh City?? Saigon! I first visited Saigon in 1998 and then went back in 2018. Totally different city! Back in 1998 the tallest building was about 10 stories tall. Now I think the tallest is 67 stories. Love Vietnam!
Yep I loved it there! Although I liked Hanoi a bit more hehe!
Bitexco is the building you were referring to! I went up to the observation deck it was quite cool. It is not the second tallest building though! Landmark 81 is now the tallest and its pretty impressive!
@@JaydenWong Yep that is the building. I also went up to the observation deck in that building. Also visited a stack of the ultra cool roof top bars throughout HCMC.
I not been to Hanoi since my first visit in 1998. Very different. Love the old quarter. I hope to get back there soon
Bamboo is one of the ‘Big 3’ airlines in Vietnam, owned by FLC, the others (of course) being Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air. It’s comparable to Virgin Australia being a Mid-tier airline except it has more services
thank you for showing us about Bamboo Airlines. New to me, but considering what they offered and I agree with you on a few "down sides" - eg: no wine only beer, no headfones, at first no soap in toilet... that should have been checked before the plane took off, and a few other little things... i think id wait until they get a bit more experience before id ever fly with them. I loved the video you sent us of Vietnam, omg... the tours you chose to go on where outstanding and very scenic. I would love to visit there one day. thank you once again for the reports. have fun
I absolutely enjoyed my time so very much in Vietnam! Before booking, I really did hesitate because of the media often shows us the war, and how run down the country is. But the country is absolutely gorgeous, great outback, great food and friendly people!
Again I enjoy this video and I think Bamboo Airlines is fantastic. You get what you pay for so I don't think no headsets or white wine are going to deter me to try it
totally, the cheap fare made up for everything!
I really want to go to Vietnam someday. It’s such a beautiful place and so green. When I was a child we used to sit around the dinner table and watch the news on a portable TV about the Vietnam war. It’s hard to imagine once upon a time it was such a war torn place. Thank you for another beautiful Vlog Jayden!❤️👍✈️
Hey Diane! My parents are the same- first thing about Vietnam they could think of probably the war. TBH even for my generation in Australia and HK, people see Vietnam as a poor and dangerous country, which actually made me hesitate a bit when I was booking my flight and even when I was packing my bags! But oh my!!! So glad I went, Hanoi especially was a beautiful city, amazing (and crazy cheap) food and beautiful outbacks nearby. The media rarely shows us that!
@@JaydenWong well remember, I am a former media person so yeah they only show you what they want you want to see. I have many very good Vietnamese friends that say it is super cheap to go there and it’s so awesome! So glad you went and I’m looking forward to more vlogs!
I was there, in the jungles, during the way, yes it's a beautiful country and very nice friendly calm people. The uni, HS and primary students know very little about the war, yes it is taught (not swept under the carpet) but there's also a strong attitude of moving forward, with great achievements under their doi moi' programs.'
An epic adventure. I had not even heard about this airline until I saw your video.
Wow, that is a good deal for an overseas flight !
LoL....I did think it was funny when the cabin steward spoke to you in Vietnamese 😂
I agree with you about locking the windows, too bad if anyone wants to take pictures .
Happens all the time in Asia because they think I’m one of them😝😝 Outside of Asia, it only happens in France😂😂😂
Very very interesting video. Love the tours you went on. Thanks again look forward to your next exciting videos.✌✌
hey jayden ,really liked this vlog and video . having been to vietnam many times it brought back some nice memories especially the nihn bin part. yes another good video .keep up the good work yeah.. take care
Jayden, I is always a pleasure to discover new airlines, thank you for being such an ambassador! Enjoy everything you do and continue to spoil us. We love you!
I'm only at 4:43 but had to stop to comment, Jayden THANKYOU for showing it how it really is in Australia for travel right now, your honesty upholds your integrity, Qantas (and Jetstar) has had major issues at Airports across Australia these past few days with Alan Joyce blaming travellers 🤷♀️ no hate on any Airlines but it is a very different experience from pre covid and you highlight all the obstacles not just gloss over "travel is back" l just want to say how much we appreciate your honest reviews that stand above the rest🙏
Ohhh, I’ve seen this carrier flying around before when I landed in Hanoi around 2 years ago. Looks cool! Great trip report as usual mate!
Positive to see Viet Nam offering leveling up air transportation. Great video and very cool contents.
Wow Bamboo airways have pretty cute guys working for them…… oh wait this is about the trip!! Looked like a good airline to travel with but a shame about the delays for you but hey you got on a plane and went international! Are you going for Australian citizenship or perm residency?
cool review, great to see you travelling to vietnam. Nice to see a new addition to the series of airlines that you have travelled on👍✈
I've actually been wanting to try Bamboo Airlines. Crikey, the angle of the swab going deep into your nose is going to give me nightmares. You can't go wrong with the a beef pie. As usual, loving your videos!
Great video 📹. Nice to see this trip report about a new airline in the industry. Good job. 👍
Have to say was pretty good first flight from a new departure location for them.
I do hope they make there web site conform with Australia standards. There was a day when the majors would advertise $1.00 flights then sting you with taxes etc. One way fare to Ho Chi Minh $288.00 turns into $430.00 with no breakdown of the extras. If it wasn't for the fact that we owe the Vietnamese big time that would have been my first and last visit to Bamboo's web site.
Lovely country.
I agree their site is horrendous, I booked with a third party at the end. Thanks for watching :)
I really like their seat back setup. It looks very functional. And the seat back TV looks real good.
yep their interface was pretty impressive!
Hey, how are you haven’t seen you for a while, love your content, love you going to Ho Chi Minh. Hopefully make more content when Covid eased out.
thanks for watching mate!! :) more to come!!
This is a great trip report Jayden, I love Vietnam, I haven't been since 2018, so many highlights here-
1. These pretzels are making me thirsty 🤣🤣
2. Water, water, water.....
3. And good to see your usual travel socks back lol
Bamboo seem pretty good! I like how you explained all the key information you needed to know at the terminal.
#windowdimmerlockedsquad
thank you Dave!!
@@JaydenWong I still can’t get over the $184 fare! 👀
Great video, Jayden! It's nice to see a new airline although there seems to be a few things to work out. They do look like they have great potential though. Thanks for sharing your experiences in Vietnam. It looks like such a beautiful country. Safe travels!
It is a beautiful country with very nice, courteous and helpful people, great food, and English language easy to find and developing quickly.
Thank you for sharing your experience of one of the new kids on the block (Bamboo Airways). The FAs seemed to be making a great effort to make it an enjoyable flight for everyone.
Two cooked meals on a 7hr 50min flight looked like quite a treat. I liked some of the extra touches which added some human interest: the two food trolleys bumping into each other and highlighting that nifty green shade of the blanket.
Pointing out how the aroma of pot noodles gradually filled the cabin made me grin, but hey it was a sign of satisfied passengers helped to feel at home by a hard-working cabin crew.
It certainly seems as if it was a good ride that was great value for money 😊
Great trip report! Can’t wait for your Vietnam vlog soon!
thanks Elijah!!
Awesome trip report bud! Oh by the way sometimes I usually use the US accent on most flights because sometimes the crew knows about it easily.
My previous flight with Bamboo, I do speak Vietnamese on the long haul flight back to Vietnam.
Overall awesome video! :D
Hi Jayden 👋. This was such an interesting review today. It seems like Bamboo Airlines is just "working out the kinks" in their service but that's understandable as they are just getting started. Sydney Airport seems to have been caught off guard with their shortage of employees and the resulting delays. Hopefully, that will improve soon. I agree with you that the food offered on board was good, especially for the price that you paid. Was the fare an introductory fare or will it remain so incredibly low? Your tour in Vietnam was so picturesque and it didn't seem too crowded as many tours tend to be. Glad that we have similar tastes, I was so hungry looking at your chicken curry dinner! 😋. Honestly, I have viewed quite a few vlogs of travelers visiting Vietnam and so many RUclipsrs have commented about how friendly and welcoming the Vietnamese are to tourists. The food is delicious and overall the prices are low compared to other countries in Asia. Thanks for sharing some of your experiences in Vietnam. Take care buddy and have a great weekend. 👍🤗❤✈🙏🌎
They charge ~2400 AUD for Business class so these $143 prices are long gone
Judging by the cabin interior, this is an ex-Hainan Airlines 787-9 with their new Dream Feather cabin. They withdrew a handful of 787s and all their A350s due to financial difficulties. Hainan Airlines updated their cabin interior in 2019 and this is one of the few 787s to sport this look.
absolutely not sure about this very aircraft but for my domestic 787 to Hanoi, I was certain that it was going to be delivered to Hainan but instead they changed ownership last minute haha
There is another 787 with Bamboo that was with Hainan before, but not this one assuming the plane reg number is correct provided by OWF, VN-A818. The plane that was with Hainan before, has registration VN-A828
Amazing video bro, can’t believe all this was done with just an iPhone!!
What’d be ur dream camera to use for ur channel?
Actually I’m happy with iphone! Don’t want a bulky camera haha. I thought about Google phones as well because it’s cheaper and apparently the cameras are even better, but it’s tricky because I use Mac book and Imovie
Hi, Jayden!
As always, your flight reports are stunning and well detailed. I hope this Bamboo Airways will launch direct flights here in Manila, as VNs flag carrier Vietnam Airlines is currently have no direct flights here, though they're in codeshare with our PR.
Also, I'm looking forward that you will come back here in Manila. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Hi Jayden thank for showing us this new airline. I have never heard before food looked pretty good. How good that you had all those seats to yourself.
First time to hear that airline ~ thanks for sharing 🙏🏻👍🏻
I think they started in 2017 but only regional :) during covid they expanded to Europe, USA (charter only) and now Australia 😝
Hi Jayden,
Thanks for much for this video! We are currently tossing up whether to fly bamboo airways next year from Sydney to Ho Chi Minh. Quick question - how far in advance did you book your flights and via which platform? We are having a few troubles eating confirmation and thinking it might be because it’s eight months in advance ?
I've been waiting for this review. Enjoyed it from the G'day! to the "turned OFF". The vlog was fantastic. Everything is so green and the boat boat trip looked like a day well spent. Hope to go there myself one day. Well done, Jayden. 👏
Love bambu..always whatch vídeos FM them...Nice tour around boy
thanks for watching Antonio!!
Yeaaaa can't wait for the aer lingus flight reviews🙈
Next month I’m flying them!!
Aer Lingus - what a cunning name!
It’s been a while since I watched your videos! Hope all is well, nice little aircraft and haven’t heard of the airline till now :)
Did passengers clap on landing? I’ve seen this happen on Vietnam Airlines and thought it was a nice way to show appreciation.
Well done young man! I see you are capable of observing good behavior no rude noises in your trip!
hi, yes another nice review; it shows travelling at the moment is fairly stressful -> covid, security, exit immigration, no olci/seat selection; the position flight from adl must be stressful too; you room in hcmc looked messy)))); anyway, do you have a first name? and where is your oz friend from the fiji trip? water in vietnamese pronounciation means "open the window" or "unlock the window";
Another epic flight review. Could you expand on the inflight food more as this one of the major highlights of flying. Other than this top mark's!!!
Thanks Peter, I agree, sometimes when I do voiceover for the food part, I run of out footage if you get me
I’ll take that advice from you for my future filming :)
Good to see that Bamboo airways, have their male flight attendants in a smart uniform
thanks Henry! Yes their uniform is sleek!
Haha it's cool to see the crew wearing transparent masks during boarding and deboarding. Despite not providing any headphones onboard, Bamboo Airways looks really great with the kind of service you get for the affordable price.
Interesting video as I did not know much about Bamboo Airways. Great fare for what you received from them... new aircraft, professional crew, 2 meals free luggage allowance.... Boeing should decommission the window tint master switch and take it out of the hands of the cabin crew. If you pay for a window seat... you should have the option to darken it or keep it clear. IMHO
I agree! If one pays extra for a window seat and can’t control the brightness then what’s the point!! United is one of a few airlines that banned crew from doing so👍🏼
Agreed if lm paying for the seat l get control of the window shade👍
Hi 👋 do you remember if this flight had Bluetooth earphone compatibility with the screens?
I don’t think it was available.
Lots of positives about this flight with Bamboo Airways though I do hate this common habit of airlines of locking the windows on dim on the 787, especially during a daytime flight. I do often wonder about the language difficulties between crew and passengers on flights and how this would play out in an emergency should one occur. Great footage from your time in Vietnam Jayden!
What languages do the staff speak? DO you know? or are you just assuming they can only speak Vietnamese. If so you display how out of date you are; walk around many big and small cities in Vietnam, stop and talk to primary/high beschool kids on the streets, ask them directions, 'where can I buy xxx', etc. You'll be amazed how many can speak some / advanced English and how polite they are. Same in China.
So l was making a mental note of all the things l didn't like about Bamboo Airways as you went through the flight:
No soap in the toilet
No headphones offered
No tomatoe sauce with the Pie (l mean come on)😉
Language barrier with Cabin Crew
Pre assigned seat😡
Beer but no wine....... and then we get to the price $187AUD l take ALL that back, that flight was an absolute bargain and for all the inclusions, attentive CC, 40kg luggage allowance ld happily bring my own soap and headphones to snag a seat on this flight! Well done you👍
P.S that boat trip looked amazing and the chicken curry yummy.
Hahah I agree! I took it all back! Even if it was Jetstar (no bags, no food etc.) I’d still be satisfied 😝 Good point about the tomato sauce😂 Maybe if I pay $0.50 or 8500 dong they would give it to me😂
incredible video Jayden! It’s exciting seeing Bamboo airways fly to Australia. I am hoping to try them soon. It seemed like such great value for money! It often costs more than $184 to fly Melbourne to Sydney with QF! I assume you got that as an on sale ticket? Keep up the great work
Exactly the cost for this flight might not even cover the tax for Tasman flights. Yes it was on sale, $99+ tax, if you go on their site now, MEL to Hanoi is on sale! :)
Jetstar are offering Jetstar club members Fly back for free, cheap fares from $249 plus the seat and luggage costs. Mine cost me $310 return. Food and entertainment are extra. I didn't know about Bamboo or I would have looked at their site.
are you from europe? and i just liked and subscribed to your channel, its pretty cool!
thank you! I’m from Hong Kong, and I live in Australia :)
@@JaydenWong very cool!, im in Bakersfield CA, about two hours north of Lax, and im born and raised in Redondo Beach ca, but have lived in a few places, like las vegas and other parts of ca, and a few years back in Hawaii on Oahu, have a great and safe easter weekend!, andi love your accent!
That is why I completely avoid the Dreamliner on longhaul flights: The crew on most airlines dim the windows against your will and that completely takes away the beauty of flying :-(!
you went to chùa bái đính , tràng an , yes it's near my house, hope you have many good experience here.
it was probably my favourite day in Vietnam! Thank you!!
Vietnam looks like a really beautiful place!
Dude, I have the same problem with the “water” thing all the time. I’m also Aussie and it seems many people don’t just “get” our pronunciation. I’ve eventually just given up now and when flying, I just wait till they come across with their cart and I point at the water bottle.
HAHA good idea! might do that next time!
Thanks Jayden, for your details and personal way..
thanks Stevo😝😝😝
Welcome to Vietnam :) Bamboo Airways has decided to stop flying their B787s to restructure their fleet due to difficulties they have... Being a Vietnamese and I haven't got a chance to fly them, so sad. QH had just introduced their IFE at the time, so they hadn't got headphones yet I guess. I've just flown with them, and I had so much problems while booking, I think it's because of the hard time they're facing... but their service was surprisingly still excellent
that’s so sad :/ they were so good on this route! hope they’ll bounce back soon. thanks for watching
@@JaydenWong QH is my favorite airline in Vietnam
Great informative video as always, seems a lot of teething problems, I’m sure things will change a big day from you!
Awesome video and I got to say overall that, yes, there were downsides. Lest says it was an exception. Overall there was a good airline. There are more worst out there. By the way, do you know they are considering buying the 777x? (Personally, I say yes, more next-generation jumbo) Hope you enjoy Vietnam these days. 🙋♂
By the way, do you have plans on trying another European airline or US airline? How about JetBlue a321lr transatlantic economy?
Cool trip report Jayden👌. Liked and enjoyed
Can't wait to watch when I get home.
haha thanks Richard!! Have a beautiful day!!!
13:13 has always been one of the key highlights. Hahaha 🤩 The hardware (e.g. seat, IFE and washroom) looks pretty good. Perhaps they can work on improving the other aspects, such as customer service and catering. 😉
a friend told me that it’s because they couldn’t sign a deal with a third party to do check in for them hence manual check in LOL! Hopefully they can find someone soon!
@@JaydenWong I see. Hope they can secure a GHA soon. 🤟
Love the video 😍🤩thank you for giving us helpful information 🥰😇😊
I’m glad you enjoyed this! thank you!
11:19 - typical Vietnamese Airlines (and some Chinese, Korean, HK, Taiwanese, Japanese) habit. If you look Vietnamese they'll speak Vietnamese first. Same as me - I look Chinese so at certain times the CX crews spoke Mandarin or Cantonese first despite I speak a bit of the prior. KE as well, but in this case they spoke Korean.
Tbh I do think Bamboo is ok...it's just I do think that the crews need some English training tbh. Of course this doesn't mean that I force all crews to speak English, but again - that "water" misunderstanding can be a bit eerie in some cases (although I do think that perhaps the crew who handled you is a bit towards American English). Nevertheless, except the cabin crew standing by the door, I can see that they're friendly and they're willing to make some efforts despite the language barrier.
Nice as always, Jayden!
What a great flight for that price. What were you doing in HCM city?
catching up with a local friend who normally lives in Adelaide :)
I recently flew on this plane and they now provide headphones
awesome!!
What does it mean when the flight attendants were holding their hands on their chests when you disembarked the aircraft?
Ifly Vietnam airlines the week after and crew did the same thing. I guess It’s just how Vietnamese people show appreciation :) like how Japanese people bow
Omg! Loved the part of the Water. Lol
Wow. Amazing video. Thanks for sharing
and thank YOU for watching!!
Seats look just like latam. I heard bamboo is also thinking of launching from melbourne avalon international
Excellent video!!
thank you!
I can imagine how welcome that curry was! Hope it was as good as it looked.
You can rest assured that it's delicious
Amazing video today loved every minute of it
Are all the drinks and instant noodles free?
yes :)
Somebody was waiting for his Vietnam haircut! 🎉
😂😂😂
Oh wow the end of the video is really fantastic 👌
just love flying with you i enjoyed it very much
thanks for watching!!
14:50 Aaaah ❤❤❤
Jetstar offering fly back for Zero dollars on some days, today being 4th May, I booked a return flight for $310 which was flight, basic seat and 20kg luggage. Sydney to Saigon for August. No food or entertainment, that will be extra onboard.
$155 one way that’s still amazing!!
@@JaydenWong no it's $259 one way and fly back for free. I did have to pay for seats and luggage as an extra cost.
I like your bamboo coloured T-Shirt Jayden!
Pho is one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes
🍲🍲👍
Hello Jayden 😃 You are back. How are you?
Great video. Love your comments
thanks :)
You flew over Brunei, my childhood home country! 😊👏
I think your Bamboo Flight was nice...I see your Checkerboard Socks went to Vietnam !!!
That was heaps cheap and other than the long check in was well worth the trip.
totally!!
The aircraft and interior was from Hainan Airline
I noticed!!
Same movie In America. And Netflix are planes did not have tv .we had peanut. And drink some airline charge for the soda and alcohol beverage
You said at the start, no visa is required for vietnam? Is that for all Australians? That must be new rule??
Unfortunately no Aussies need a visa. I was using my UK passport so it was visa free. The staff at SYD didn’t know and was asking for my visa haha
Tv on back so cool.
Welcome to Ho Chi Minh city
thank you!! :)
nice video. thanks for sharing 😍
no worries my pleasure! thanks Daniel!
looks decent, especially for the price, hopefully I can fly on Bamboo soon!
Why call it Bamboo Airlines. I reckon "Wolfie Airlines" for a howling good time is much cooler. You can all howl at the moon on the way hehehehe. Another great trip report Jayden, but I'll still take Singapore or Tokyo. Thank you.
Bamboo is one of vietnamese floral emblems represents resilence of the people.
@@pthccuocsongdulich4238 I totally understand now. My apologies as I sincerely meant no disrespect.
I really did enjoy this review, new airline Bamboo looks great and crew look very professional. I would be concerned if the crew spill something on the white uniforms. And why no earphones that’s strange 😊
Welcome to Ho Chi Minh city, wish to meet you ^^
thanks Khang, enjoyed my time there :)
Nice Video ❤️Thanks for sharing ~~
thank YOU for watching!! :)
7:55 How dare the cabin crews lock the window shades 😤
25:48 The aerobridge looks very futuristic :o
31:13 Wifi on the water 🤣
Looks like you had heaps of fun in Hanoi :)
A lot of airlines on long haul, lock the windows after the main meal hoping the pax will sleep making their workload a lot lighter!
Great video!!
