    I just finished replacing my sunshade in my 2012 Tiguan. Thanks for the amazing tutorial. If you’re doing it by yourself you can pass a flexible wire through the eye of the metal clip and tire it to one of the rear sunroof glass screw holes. This way the metal coil will not retract when you try to pass the metal coil through the rail on the other side.

    You were right, this wasn't "easy" but it wasn't impossible either. Mine was a '16 tiguan and the most difficult part is putting the spring slider into the groove and then inserting the silver metal tab. Definitely need a helper and the metal hook things you talked about. Great video, helped me save $2000 which was the quote from VW dealer.

      Thank you I am happy to see that this might help some people if you have any questions just ask I did plenty of them they never super easy when it comes to putting the little metal squares in to the stainless steel spring openings and than fiddle it back into the track. Also some newer models do not have the little metal squares and your aftermarket replacement will come in traditional style with them. No worries about that the traditional style will also fit the newer without those little metal pieces. Good Luck

      @@G-MansWorld Thank you for the detalied video and tips. Great job! I have a question for you. I have a newer model that does not have the little metal squares. How do you put the original plastics onto the steel spring? It looks like the aftermarket steel spring has one hole on each side for the metal square but the original steel spring has two holes on each side that go directly into the plastic.

    • @G-MansWorld
      @G-MansWorld  Год назад

      @@radionel Hi just use the aftermarket plastic parts that comes with your steel spring screen. The little metal squares are usually already pushed in the plastic end pieces that come with the aftermarket screens. Remove them in order to install them it's the difficult part where you have to get those metal squares in to the spring just before u try to reinsert them into the track. I hope this makes sense. I also have this case many times the newer models do not have the metal squares anymore just use the items that come with the aftermarket kit.

    Very well done man. I was waiting for this video for over two years. Keep up the good work and let's fix awesome Audi's with 100s of faults here and there.
    Some good angles with these cameras will definitely help more. It was your first time, no big deal. We all make mistakes with everything new.
    This mechanism of sunscreen in Audis or any other car is purely being built to rip customers, why? Because of the way glue has been used on only one end of metal strip with fabric and the way it slides. Never buying any car with sunroof in future, even a tiny one. Those solid roofs are blessing.

    • @G-MansWorld
      @G-MansWorld  2 месяца назад

      Let me try to explain with words a little more..... So you take the little metal piece that comes with the new shade and put it diagonal into the opening from the screen spring end. You only can get it in diagonal than push it straight and hold it with a pic tool and try to get it into the sliding groove move it forward so you be able to push the plastic part that inserts into the Aluminum tail from the top down so it grabs the metal part that you inserted into the screen spring. In needs to be aligned with the blue part u see on most models. After that you take the plastic cover with gasket from to down click it in place and replace the screw this also prevents it from popping out best is to have 2 people doing each side at the same time but you can also do this alone.

If you have a little time than it's probably best to call them in a couple of weeks. You will need to leave the car probably over night it takes at least 4 hours to do the job sometimes a little longer. I think they charge 1000 dollars labor and the part you can easy buy on Amazon or they buy it for you but than need the exact color I think it's only 3 colors anyway Gray - Black - Beige

Now the rail thing that pull up the headliner is stuck on the front glass, it just moves 10 cm from front and back but it wong go all the way back so i can try again with a new headliner. What should i do ?

      That does not sound good try to remove all leftovers from the screen like metal band from the rail carefully. But if you use to much force you might have damaged the guides that move in the track. We always test carefully if you feel resistance than there is no point of trying to push the button longer to move the sunshade. Good luck to you in fixing your Sunshade

    WARNING: DO NOT DO IT THIS WAY!!!!!!!
    The metal slip that has to slide into the track actually REQUIRES you to take off the entire roof liner from the front of the car to the rear, AS WELL AS removing the entire panoramic roof assembly. Otherwise you CAN NOT slide the metal into the enclosed railing!!!
    “Service Mode” is for Service, NOT repair. This guy will absolutely destroy the value of your Audi if you do it this way! It will slide AT FIRST, but it will not last long because it is NOT secure in the railing!!!
    TAKE IT TO A QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL OR TRADE IT IN IF YOU CAN’T AFFORD THE REPAIR!!!
    (My personal advice: If you can’t afford it and you’re worried about it becoming too hot in the day, go get the roof glass tinted as dark as you can to where you can still see through it. Much cheaper and still has the same effect)
