Great to see the 8 Series back in the BMW Range - Over twenty years since the iconic E31 came to an end. Interestingly BMW don't name it as a "Super Tourer" in their marketing language.
Love the styling. Unmistakably a DB. As a DB11 owner, what would be awesome, as you did with the AMR package, is to have a new DB styling package with a bigger front grille etc…. For now, I’ll wait a few years before I consider a trade up. We live in a world where we need to squeeze out as much life as what’s on the road already and “packages” on existing products is one way to do so.
Yes, agreed. The DB11 is such an elegant shape - it is great that they preserved this element. An Aston Martin Tourer is always sporty but must be elegant too.
Looks great. Thank god it's not a hybrid dragging around a few hundred KG's of batteries. Having owned an Aston, I can imagine what you'd charge for those tyres...
The front is far more like the new DBS … Actually it’s practically identical to it…. This car is fantastic, A HYBRID between the rear of a DB11 plus as I say the front of a DBS …. THATS plane to see …. The new interior layout is wonderful, even beats the classy AM Vanquish….. oh this silver has the wow factor, shows off all those wonderful lines ….. yes please…!!
Thanks Conner. 56% wider at the front than DB11. A big apature needed to force the air through the grille and then out and around the outside of the car. Bonnet is a complete new design too. Aluminite Silver works really well on DB12. Such a cool colour.
In a video Aston Martin said this is the first of a new generation of interiors, so interior wise, this is the future AM is definitely heading. Most likely have slightly differences.
@@Otherdave008 yes, we haven't seen the other models yet but Aston Martin have invested heavily in this new technology for the infotainment system so we will definitely see that applied across the range. It is likely that the interior styling will have a similar feel across the range too but we are not certain yet.
Why does Aston Martin still refuse to offer at least additional interior lighting? I feel like a simple led strip somewhere along the door panels would really go a long way!
Comprehensive review. Shame it’s only available with a Mercedes V8. Performance aside, it just seems to be missing the final piece of the puzzle. An Aston V12.
Thanks Patrick. There will be some eyebrows raised about the absence of a V12. A great testament to the versitility and capibility of the V8, already demonstrated with DBX & DBX 707.
Aston Martin have made no mention of a DBS or "Super GT" variant. Nevertheless, it feels like there is a commercial opportunity for this type of model so we would be surprised if it didn't happen.
@@HWMAstonMartinLtd that’s weird because this is a replacement for the db11, so what’s gonna replace the outgoing flagship the dbs, their have to be a new dbs replacement because the old dbs has more power than this db12.
@@tracer073 DB12 replaces DB11. Therefore only time will tell with regards to the DBS and how it is replaced. Judging by DB12, if a new model comes, it will likley be a big leap forward.
The DB11 had a V8 engine - which was by far the most popular because it had sharper handling and was almost as quick. Now this is significantly quicker than the DB11 V12 with the lighter V8 engine.
The V8 is more powerful than the previous DB11 V12 by quite some margin, 115kg lighter and being more compact it can be mounted lower and further back which makes a huge difference to dynamics. Also , DB11 V12 only sold in small numbers. Those wanting a V12 typically purchased a DBS.
Love the car, but the interior was the biggest let down. I know customers want more technology, but removing that traditional sweeping console with the sapphire key really removed the theater of firing up the engine. Also, miss the V12 versus the Mercedes adopted engine that has been tuned.
Thank you, R. Design and appearance with anything nearly always divides opinion. The interior on DB12 is a departure from the existing range, as was the current range from our VH platform cars. A rolling stone gathers no moss.

0-100 in 3.5 sec ? what a shame for such car. just sad it has similiar speed to an Audi RS6. It should do at least 3.2, otherwise it should not be called a super car. Its certainly got the look, but speed? shame.
If your key performance metric is 0-100km/h - then an RS6 is better and a Tesla better still. Aston Martin could make it 4wd but it would compromise the dynamics. This would get it off the line more quickly but it would not have lovely rwd balance. If you have driven an RS6, it is a fine car but from a handling point of view, it has grip rather than finesse. It depends on your priority.
