Alligators. People move to Florida and treat the gators terribly but they're actually super helpful for our freshwater bodies. Alligators keep the water clean by aquascaping the area. They're not nearly as aggressive as they're made out to be and often people just mistake their behavior. There's loads of videos on YT of folks mistaking a gator basking with its mouth open as getting ready to attack. Unlikely, they keep their mouths open when they're digesting and a full alligator really doesn't want to bother or be bothered.

As an American, I would add three birds to this list. The house sparrow, European starling, and rock dove (a/k/a common pigeon) are all non-native species that are here thanks to human intervention.
Starlings and house sparrows were brought here at the turn of the 19th C. by some Englishmen who wanted to populate New York City with birds mentioned in the works of Shakespeare. Colonists brought pigeons in the 1600s. They're now the three most widespread and common bird species in North America. They've driven many native species, especially cavity nesters like bluebirds, into the forests and away from people. In cities, they poop all over statues, rooftops, and cars. Starlings and house sparrows make lots of racket but cannot sing. I can't stand the things, but we're stuck with them.

To be fair most people I know in suburban America have a love hate relationship (more love/respect than hate actually) with most of the animals listed (and others). In my state we are told over and over again about the dangers of rabies. Like we discourage kids from going up to small wild animals. When I visited the UK and parents were encouraging their kids to try and catch the squirrels I was weirded out but learned the UK doesn't have rabies. And people also worry about animals carrying ticks. And people get annoyed when animals like opposums and racoons get into their houses (attics usually) to nest because they destroy stuff. And people are afraid of bats because again you basically have to get a rabies shot if you get bitten (I had a friend bitten, bat wasn't attacking her it just got confused and bit her) and they suck. But bat houses are super common. If a baby any of these animals is found you best believe the Nextdoor app is filled with what's the best thing to do to help it. With coyotes again, alot of people respect and defend them but people get upset when they eat pets. Also with coyotes they have spread within the last few decades to areas that have been developed "urbanized" back in like the 1920/30/40s (so its not like people were used to dealing with them or wolves/bears for that matter).
Canadian geese get hated on alot. But whats funny when you watch the videos of them attacking people is that people almost never hurt them even though they could. Like I've seen them hold up both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. And we have PSAs / signs telling us we can't "veer for deer" (people don't want to run over animals and cause accidents that kill people because they don't want to kill animals). Most people don't want the animals hurt and besides someone who is directly affected I don't think people really hate them (exceptions prove the rule). And again, its one thing to be used to dealing with animals, but in my neighborhood when I was a little kid we didn't have coyotes or deer or turkeys and racoons and oppossum are common. I love all of the animals but am still going to complain if I almost hit a deer that ran out into the road, a turkey that chased me when I was on a run, a coyote that attacked my pet, or racoons and oppossums that destroy my attic. But I definitely don't hate them or want them to go away. Because I reallly enjoy seeing them when I am out and about (or through the windows at home) and now they have just as much as a right to be there (if not more) than I do. It's all about managing coexistance. And this includes venting when they annoy you!

4 more hated and misunderstood animals:
Wolves: People seem to think they're scary maneating monsters, but wolf attacks are actually extremely rare. Wolves generally try to avoid humans as much as possible and are rightfully just as if not more scared of us. Also like the coyotes mentioned in the video they just act like your dogs would if they were in the wild, they're the closest relatives of dogs.
Snakes: There are many very venomous species and for that reason I can definitely understand at least some of the fear of snakes, but some people are irrationally afraid of all snakes. There are more out there that are non-venomous than those that are venomous and even the venomous ones will typically leave humans alone if you simply respect their space. Like the wolves they want nothing to do with you and would rather avoid you than attack if at all possible. They also help control the rodent population since that's a core part of the diet of most species.
Rats: Wild rats are a pest species which can also sometimes spread disease so for that reason I do somewhat understand why some people don't like them. However, they are also an incredibly intelligent species and domesticated rats in particular make some of the best pets. They are very social creatures who are able to show empathy. They're also not as unclean as many people think they are, they groom themselves even more than cats and can also be litter trained. Finally, they get unfairly blamed for the black plague. The real problem with regards to that was the fleas, not the rats.
Spiders: Like snakes many people unjustly fear them probably because they think they are all dangerous and venomous, and of course many people also don't like the way they look. But the reality is, they're actually even more undeserving of hate than the snakes because there are only a few species which are actually venomous enough to be a danger to humans. The vast majority of them are harmless to humans. Most don't have venom that is potent enough to cause us anything more than mild irritation unless you're unlucky enough to be allergic, and some may even be incapable of biting us at all because their fangs are incapable of puncturing our skin. Also, like snakes they do not like confrontation especially with animals several times their size like humans and will try to avoid people as much as possible rather than attack. They also serve a similar purpose to snakes in the ecosystem, but with insects instead of rodents.

The "opossum", as no American has ever once called them.
Sorry, I understand why you call them that, just in the states the O is entirely silent. They're fascinating little things, though. We have some that would venture onto our porch to get at the birdseed.
PS: Raccoons are also awesome. Maybe I'm just in ah of these midsized scavengers.

They have only ate the dead ones for me. I don't even close my run anymore because it's just easier if they can come in and take the bodies. 15 years, loads of different individuals, never had an opossum go after a live bird. That's some bad luck you got, or maybe a totally different breed. I'm all the way in florida. Ours are quite small, super smart and sweet though.

I've proposed on rewilding and New Zealand wildlife Facebook groups that little eagles and one or more species of tinamou should be introduced to New Zealand. They're the closest living relatives of Haast's eagle and moas, respectively. It would give Mother Nature the ingredients to fill vacant instead of recreating the wheel.

There's plenty of possums to go around, nothing wrong with it if they don't suffer. But relocating animals is a myth. Most relocated animals just starve to death or die quickly. Relocating is done for someone to feel better about themselves, not for the good of the animal.

I dislike the idea of “hating” any creature as they are ALL just doing what they evolved to do. I am regularly angry at predators when they target my chickens but that is different than hate. I protect my livestock by eliminating predators that encroach on my property and actively attack my animals. If they leave us alone then we leave them alone. And I don’t hate them for doing what they do, I just have to regulate the ones that prey on my non native animals.
