o) If the swamp has a flame geysir (surtling spawner) you can always kite the abomination over the convenient ground based flamethrower. It takes alot of damage from that AND if you parry an attack while it's burning the damage multiplier applies, giving massive dot damage too. o) If you bring a Stagbreaker you can look for buried scrap piles by smashing the ground. If damage numbers show up where none are supposed to you found buried stuff most likely. Useful when you haven't killed Bonemass yet for the Wishbone.
You can do a little base in the swamp(for the mountain as well) by bringing 16 copper (forge and forge cooler) and 2 bronze (anvils), bring the rest by portal an put it on top of a crypt and the smelter on the ground. For the cheesing in crypt part you can also mine the mud pile but don't open it and use your stagbreaker with his aoe you can destroy the spawner if it's not too far, you don't see it but when the buzzing stop you good. For the abomination you can use the surtling fire or fire arrows if you don't use a shield.
My favorite moments in this game are sailing home with the spoils of conquest after filling up the hold of my craft. It's triumphant and powerful. I also don't get the fear of serpents. Sure they can kill boats but you know just sail away. Don't stray far from a coast at night and you will never see one
I would add that the parry bonus damage from a perfectly timed block with a bucker is great, but it excels when you combine it with the 'special' middle mouse button attack some weapons have. My favorite combo is the Mace Middle Mouse Button attack as a follow up to buckler parry stagger, but Sword will be useful now too with the Abominations. Dagger has one too, so you have all damage types covered with those 3 weapons depending on mob vulnerability.
I know it's just a few words, but I wanna thank you so much forr this! The Swamp biome and its extreme grind annd the frustration of it actually caused me to quit Valheim a bit less than a year ago. Picked it up again 4 days ago, and man, this video is gonna help a lot
Wow that means a lot to us 😊 I hope that your Swamp experience will be a lot better this time. It's a good and fun survival game, sometimes you just need to know what to do to make the grind lesser and not dying as often as possible 😁
@@FingerPanic I do love the game very much. Put on great music and stay on the edge of your seat as enemies could come at any moment as you mine away at the resources you need, haha. Also love the building system and how creative you an be with bases and outposts!
My main problem with the swamp is that I die so often in it, usually around multiple creatures and I can't claim my gear back before I'm dead again. I know people hate the plains more, but always dark, constant low stamina, slow movement and just aweful music makes the swamp to the worst biome for me.
Use evening terrain tool, it helps alot to deal with deep waters, you don't need to spam it, but couple of usages while moving along a way helps alot, just keep in mind that the tool evens ground to the level you are standing on.
Watched this video and I am delighted by it. Organised, well structured, short descriptions enough to get the info out, but doesn't bring any kind of boredom up. Fast. Thank you, from the bottom of my Viking soul. I started 3 weeks ago. Still preparing bases, portals and a huge amount of raw and processed materials, tools and trying to upgrade as neat as possible. I try not to watch any videos about the game, so the surprise effect is higher, but when I saw (and did not enter) the first swamp biome... I knew that this fetid view of immensely suffering vegetaton was telling me to get very well prepared or leave the game. Your video and narrative have confirmed my instincts. I will gladly prepare with them as solid foundation of the endeavour. Some of your tips, even on a very low beginner level, I was using naturally in the starter biomes. I have decided to play the skill part of the game this way: absolutely dominate those both starter biomes, to the point that I can walk nearly naked and on low health. Combine both main player types, that are snipers/trappers and full contact. Have always a plan B and C prepared. I think this will make me play the game for years to come. A slow, but lovely plan. Lovely home you've built, if the house shown in the video is yours. I played a lot with the Rust builder (own server, own map, modded), and I find the Valheim builder quite challenging as a player. I hope they will be able to grow and improve that builder, as even now, it is an excellent combination of landscaping, building, materials and designs possible. Promising stuff, even if now I sometimes could send the devs to hell with that idiotic snapping when the piece wants, or no snapping when I want it, lol. Thank you again, and I hope my few words will make you smile, remembering when you started, those first months of absolute discovery and slow but steady fusion with the game, it's AI and the community-friends. Countless deaths and frustration but this game has a certain feels to it that it will make you want to play more. My first video for Valheim was insanely viewed and I didn't expect that at all. Still a lot of improvements to make. I am just happy that people like it 😁
My online buddies and I have recently beaten the second boss, and have been in search of Mausoleums and iron. Unfortunately, we made several rookie mistakes venturing into the Swamp. For one, we didn't use stealth, so basically, 3 of 4 of us were obliterated during our first swamp run. Then the most important one was not bringing poison resistance. 💀 I nearly died, lmao. Fortunately, this video has helped us in our later trips to the swamp. It's very informative and helpful, we very much appreciate this helpful video. 🙌🏽 Long story short, we ended up infiltrating one sunken crypt and used the top of the structure to establish our portal. We also have a fireplace set up inside for the rest bonus, too. It's not a whole lot right now, but it's better than nothing. We're still on the fence about making a swamp base. 🤷🏽 I'll have to check out your other videos for the other biomes. Thank you again! 🤗
o) Poison Resist Mead DOES stack with Root Armor's poison resist so if you REALLY want to laugh at anything trying to poison you use both and faceroll away.
By the time I was able to go into swamps, I had the equipment necessary to be daring enough to try taking on Serpents once or twice, which is enough to get the scales for the tower shield. I was also lucky enough to find a scrap deposit exposed at the edge of the swamp that looked like a deep crater, which was the only other thing needed for the second best tower shield currently in the game. That thing was a HUGE carry, to say the least, even without being upgraded until later on.
@@i_am_jarvistm7220 That doesn't really say much lol because when they die the scales spawn at the bottom of the water instead of sinking so the only way is to harpoon it out of the water. Even if you bring it to shore it's not possible to get the scales because they can't swim in water shallow enough for you to look down and press E to collect
@@NSarg04 It's possible to jump from a height above the water to sort of dive down a bit, which I've used many a time to retrieve stones from rock that I've broken down along shorelines simply because they were an eyesore. The Serpent acts similarly to the leeches, so that's something to remember as well, the difference being that the Serpent gives up after a certain period of not being able to attack. With the right layout, it's just a matter of keeping the aggro and being in an area that you can set up after the fact.
Holy hell, I'm so glad I seen this video. Kept getting killed by 2 2 starred draugr archers in a crypt (accident dug through fully) and they was camping my stuff. I had no clue about the root armor having pierce resist.
Great collection of tips for the Swamp. One trick I use is using the AOE of the Stagbreaker when inside the iron dungeons - it unfortunately puts out the torches but it does weaken or eliminate a lot of the close quarters enemies on the other side.
I found a great seed that has all bosses not too far from spawn...but the best part is that there's a swatch of swamp on the starting island that has a corridor of dark forest between it which gave me easy access to a crypt to start my iron stage. A body pile actually spawned in the dark forest right beside a greydwarf spawner. I didn't really like the flow of this game a couple weeks ago...and then something clicked and I can't stop playing now.
I use concept of "mobile smelter". Just take minimum non teleportable materials to build forgery+upgrades and teleport of course, then build base nearby crypts you find. The base is still quite small, but it will spare tonns of time on traveling back and forth and don't need any exploits.
In my experience playing Valheim, the first things you should probably make with your iron is a, banded shield, an iron weapon of your choice, an iron pickaxe, and a stonecutter (of course).
Make the stonecutter first. Build a grinding wheel with it to upgrade your forge, destroy the stonecutter, get your 2 iron back. I also prioritize building the Longship and start looking for the merchant at this point. Extra carry capacity is extremely useful for hauling the iron. With a bit of an effort you can even get materials for the serpent shield during the exploration.
I'm playing on Xbox1S and it Lagged so bad in the swamps I had to cheat a bit and it sucs, I love hard game's but with so much Lag I couldn't perry or time anything. Idk why it only Lags in the Swamps. I play other games with way better Graphics RDR2, Atomic Heart, Dying light 2 and many more with no Lag. Also the best Armor you can get is Troll Armor 3 or Bronze 3 and there way underpowered for the Swamps. I spent day's trying to get 4 sets of Armor back and couldn't due the hoard around them and was impossible due to the Lag. If the dev fix a few things I think the game could be a Masterpiece. Sweet video. EDIT. I will say I wish I known about the root Armor before.
When the game came out on PC there were a lot of optimization issues as well. It could be the same case since it just came out on Xbox. And yes, the swamp can be very challenging for first time players so hang in there.😁 Get the root armor and you should be fine.
Oh thanks! So, where do I look in the stats of the shield to know how much bonus damage I deal after parry? I can't check the game atm. Is there like a Parry Bonus?
a problem I run into is the draugr archers while having to fighting the regular draugrs and the 1 star draugr archers deal 47 damage trought your shield with level 30 block and level 1 shield and armor which is crazy
It also has a -20% speed penalty when worn, which can be rough if you're trying to run (kite) in heavy armor. Not saying it's a bad idea, but definitely get some practice with it before going into dangerous turf.
Yesterday was my first time playing in the swamp, the moment i landed there the moment i winsta died because of a ghost xDD this swamp is annoying and scary asf for me right now but it was so funny ! XD

built a portal on some tower, came in, some troll spawned and destroyed half tower along with portal. while killing it I stepped into swamp and got killed by a wraith. no more corpse run, I am not swimming there for 20 mins anymore. no boat, no items, GG
They should allow us to transport ore I'm not transporting my resource for an hr a cross the ocean when I can just seed swap. We still need ships to find new places and they could introduce more things for us to do in the water to keep ships viable.
i wanna ask what armor would you recommend for going into swamp before getting the root armor? Specifically if Troll armor better than bronze armor or vice versa

Just make a cauldron. The game unlocks as you hold the needed ingredients. So as lomg as you have a cauldron you should see all the food and potions you can make once you interact with it.
Hello Krzysiek, I was curious of that as well and I actually tried it but somehow the effects don't stack. It follows the protection buff of the Poision Resist Potion of .7 to .8 damage per tick and only lasts for 6 seconds. I was hoping for some kind of an effect that will us totally immune to poison if we stack them 😊
Hehehe it's convenient isn't it? Hehehe. It would be better is you have 2 surtling farms near to each other and you make an outpost nearby on one of the trees and just AFK 😊 They keep spawning and you keep harvesting, just by sitting down 😊

If you can't make a bronze buckler then I bone tower shield is a good substitute. However this is only for pure blocking and can't do parry. If you get hit by something more than 100 damage, which is the block force of BTS, then it will definitely go through. I still highly suggest bronze buckler for stronger parry force, if you can spare some bronze 😊
It's an exploit that players use so that they don't need to ship metals. You place all the metals in your inventory and you log out. Since you can carry the items in your person, you can log in to another server or world carrying the metals with you. You can find a lot of tutorials like that in YT.

@@Baum_Mann The surtlings die in water, so if you dig around the geysers until you hit groundwater, they will spawn in the water and almost immediately extinguish. Which leads to free Surtling cores and coal.
Playing thid game for the first time with my brother i must say this swamp is the shittest mf boime, reminds me of the days of dark souls, before this boime we didnt died even a single time my brother died to a troll twice messing around with him but this mf swam biome was on across to islands on the other side of the sea, in ocean we faced the serpent which was fairly ok to deal with once we reached land but in the second ocean getting nearer to the swamp we got attacked by leeches 4 of those mfs our ship got destroyed near swamp i was able to reach the shore but my brother died 😂it was hilarious most fking retarded shit ever i made a portal while those draugers and the fcking damage of draugers with arrows was broken even when we came prepared with max out weapons and armor for that stage the game was too unfair with the poison , water slow affect to stamine ,darkness, shitty music and the mf abomination and those flying things damage it was a nightmare we died like 8 times there before giving up and started to look for other plans for this mf area and these caves things here are so hard to find in our map like wtf 🥹

The face of my brother losing so many skill points here was priceless 🤣i didn't died near as much as he died he just straight went in with a spear agaisnt everyone like a true viking 🤣and get fked with poison damage against leech and geezers i was just learning the biome through his sacrifices 🤣i am more of a builder i like to play safe and defensive and here one thing we learned going through the ocean and consistently dieing on the shore that no matter what u see dont run like a maniac in the swamp u will attract more attention and die more miserably 😂unlike the blackforest where it was easy to evade once u have low hp but we couldn't find any other biome near the swamp which made our lives miserable we tried so hard to stand ground play defensive on the shore and explore step by step but during night its too hard with those flying ones and some draugers too do insane damage all we wanted was to use the damn swamp key somewhere in hope of getting new weapons 🥹😂. This video is really helpful with the poison resist we can fk those stupid geezers and we will try the trick of flames with the abomination the comments here are helpful too 👍.. This biome really is an experience for whoever is going here the first time 😂
@@FingerPanic i can solo them easily but he is never alone elite draugher and a couple of shades give root armour waterproofing and i would say its a fair fight specialy going from when you started from the beginning. even with a full geared up character. The skill gap need for this biome is outrages compared to plains and mountain. i can do mountain biome in bronze gear aswell as plains but swamps are on a whole new level now. I would hate if when i started this game the abomination was just added and it might even keep newcomers from play past the swamp.

I found a great seed that has

What's the seed name?
I use concept of "mobile smelter". Just take minimum non teleportable materials to build forgery+upgrades and teleport of course, then build base nearby crypts you find. The base is still quite small, but it will spare tonns of time on traveling back and forth and don't need any exploits.

Great tips. I like using the hoe to level the ground and dry up walkways. Even better if you use torches to guide your path to and from the crypts

In my experience playing Valheim, the first things you should probably make with your iron is a, banded shield, an iron weapon of your choice, an iron pickaxe, and a stonecutter (of course).

Make the stonecutter first. Build a grinding wheel with it to upgrade your forge, destroy the stonecutter, get your 2 iron back.
I also prioritize building the Longship and start looking for the merchant at this point. Extra carry capacity is extremely useful for hauling the iron. With a bit of an effort you can even get materials for the serpent shield during the exploration.

I'm playing on Xbox1S and it Lagged so bad in the swamps I had to cheat a bit and it sucs, I love hard game's but with so much Lag I couldn't perry or time anything. Idk why it only Lags in the Swamps. I play other games with way better Graphics RDR2, Atomic Heart, Dying light 2 and many more with no Lag. Also the best Armor you can get is Troll Armor 3 or Bronze 3 and there way underpowered for the Swamps. I spent day's trying to get 4 sets of Armor back and couldn't due the hoard around them and was impossible due to the Lag. If the dev fix a few things I think the game could be a Masterpiece. Sweet video.
EDIT. I will say I wish I known about the root Armor before.
When the game came out on PC there were a lot of optimization issues as well. It could be the same case since it just came out on Xbox. And yes, the swamp can be very challenging for first time players so hang in there.😁 Get the root armor and you should be fine.
I leveld much of the ground, and clear cutted trees , I wasn't wet, and had cover to escape to.

a problem I run into is the draugr archers while having to fighting the regular draugrs and the 1 star draugr archers deal 47 damage trought your shield with level 30 block and level 1 shield and armor which is crazy
With the Root Harnesk damage from Arrows and Spears will significantly lower. So get crafting.
Thee level 2 skeleton shield which you can get around the same time as the stag breaker has better stats than the bronze buckler.

It also has a -20% speed penalty when worn, which can be rough if you're trying to run (kite) in heavy armor. Not saying it's a bad idea, but definitely get some practice with it before going into dangerous turf.
Movement penalty voids it tho, especially when your already wet and trying to move in the swamp

I like to abuse fire geysers to burn abomination easily and reset my rested buff, as you get dry near them.

built a portal on some tower, came in, some troll spawned and destroyed half tower along with portal. while killing it I stepped into swamp and got killed by a wraith. no more corpse run, I am not swimming there for 20 mins anymore. no boat, no items, GG

They should allow us to transport ore I'm not transporting my resource for an hr a cross the ocean when I can just seed swap. We still need ships to find new places and they could introduce more things for us to do in the water to keep ships viable.
You can set that it allows it in game file or use Valheim +

Just make a cauldron. The game unlocks as you hold the needed ingredients. So as lomg as you have a cauldron you should see all the food and potions you can make once you interact with it.

Hello Krzysiek, I was curious of that as well and I actually tried it but somehow the effects don't stack. It follows the protection buff of the Poision Resist Potion of .7 to .8 damage per tick and only lasts for 6 seconds.
I was hoping for some kind of an effect that will us totally immune to poison if we stack them 😊
Hehehe it's convenient isn't it? Hehehe. It would be better is you have 2 surtling farms near to each other and you make an outpost nearby on one of the trees and just AFK 😊 They keep spawning and you keep harvesting, just by sitting down 😊

They are and they hit pretty hard. If you have a bronze buckler you should be find and able to parry. Just don't let them gang up on you 😁

Hello i am on swamp and i using a bone shield is IT good ?
If you can't make a bronze buckler then I bone tower shield is a good substitute. However this is only for pure blocking and can't do parry. If you get hit by something more than 100 damage, which is the block force of BTS, then it will definitely go through. I still highly suggest bronze buckler for stronger parry force, if you can spare some bronze 😊

It's an exploit that players use so that they don't need to ship metals. You place all the metals in your inventory and you log out. Since you can carry the items in your person, you can log in to another server or world carrying the metals with you. You can find a lot of tutorials like that in YT.

@@Baum_Mann The surtlings die in water, so if you dig around the geysers until you hit groundwater, they will spawn in the water and almost immediately extinguish. Which leads to free Surtling cores and coal.
Playing thid game for the first time with my brother i must say this swamp is the shittest mf boime, reminds me of the days of dark souls, before this boime we didnt died even a single time my brother died to a troll twice messing around with him but this mf swam biome was on across to islands on the other side of the sea, in ocean we faced the serpent which was fairly ok to deal with once we reached land but in the second ocean getting nearer to the swamp we got attacked by leeches 4 of those mfs our ship got destroyed near swamp i was able to reach the shore but my brother died 😂it was hilarious most fking retarded shit ever i made a portal while those draugers and the fcking damage of draugers with arrows was broken even when we came prepared with max out weapons and armor for that stage the game was too unfair with the poison , water slow affect to stamine ,darkness, shitty music and the mf abomination and those flying things damage it was a nightmare we died like 8 times there before giving up and started to look for other plans for this mf area and these caves things here are so hard to find in our map like wtf 🥹

The face of my brother losing so many skill points here was priceless 🤣i didn't died near as much as he died he just straight went in with a spear agaisnt everyone like a true viking 🤣and get fked with poison damage against leech and geezers i was just learning the biome through his sacrifices 🤣i am more of a builder i like to play safe and defensive and here one thing we learned going through the ocean and consistently dieing on the shore that no matter what u see dont run like a maniac in the swamp u will attract more attention and die more miserably 😂unlike the blackforest where it was easy to evade once u have low hp but we couldn't find any other biome near the swamp which made our lives miserable we tried so hard to stand ground play defensive on the shore and explore step by step but during night its too hard with those flying ones and some draugers too do insane damage all we wanted was to use the damn swamp key somewhere in hope of getting new weapons 🥹😂. This video is really helpful with the poison resist we can fk those stupid geezers and we will try the trick of flames with the abomination the comments here are helpful too 👍.. This biome really is an experience for whoever is going here the first time 😂

@@FingerPanic i can solo them easily but he is never alone elite draugher and a couple of shades give root armour waterproofing and i would say its a fair fight specialy going from when you started from the beginning. even with a full geared up character. The skill gap need for this biome is outrages compared to plains and mountain. i can do mountain biome in bronze gear aswell as plains but swamps are on a whole new level now. I would hate if when i started this game the abomination was just added and it might even keep newcomers from play past the swamp.
