Kurt's Sister in The Waltons sounds like a Country Heavenly Beauty. Jason has a Country High quality Dreamy Sweet intelligent performance in the Whole episodes of the Waltons.
I love the Waltons! If a person does not like the show....that's fine. However, if that person cannot appreciate the cohesiveness of the family and community which is portrayed so beautifully...then that is sad....
I was Born in the late 80s so I never got to watch shows like this but now seeing this it makes me want to watch this so bad. I will have to get it on amazon or something.
are you kidding?? They are freakin' amazing singers! I wish Jon Walmsley and Linda Purl had more songs together. It's a pity she didn't become a permanent character =(
Wilford Brimley (the guy with the glasses at 0:48) was in a drama series called "Our House" in the mid 80's. It was wonderful. We also had LA Law, Doogie Howser, The Wizard, and Amazing Stories. This was long before reality TV came along.
USA has such a rich cultural history in music and song, and people from all of the world who can perform slabs of it,in a never-ceasing pageant of love and creativity.I'm an Australian, and if there was no USA input to my life for the last 50 years,I would be greatly deprived of my joy, hope and admiration in the wonders of my fellow humans of like tastes, though we will never meet.
Wow, Justin -- you're right. I had forgotten which Walton I was seeing. I remember Ben now. Moproducer, another fan of the show, went right along with my error. My apologies to Jason (it's not every day that fictitious characters receive an apology!).
the reason I think the 80s shows appeal to me is that they are more relatable for lack of a better word. the stuff on today just looks so fake and fluffy and full of cheap comedy. the characters in these types of those shows were more human, less artificial. you are right though, reality tv has had some bad effects on the entertainment industry.
What a sweet and unexpected note. I'll do my best in 500 characters. 1. Why wouldn't we? 2. As mortals, we're always limited in mobility by physical constraints: gravity, friction, inertia. But our souls aren't. Bird flight is the closest thing we've seen in this world to the complete freedom for which our souls yearn. 3. See #2. 4. America is all about individual freedom, in theory. Flight is all about freedom, too. We look to the lone eagle, not the flock of geese. Bless you.
You have to watch the whole episode, Mo. In an earlier scene, Ben built a time machine out of old Model T parts, traveled into the 1940's, and returned with all sorts of knowledge of the future. They were running out of story ideas near the end of the series.
@lelly1399 Not in the back hills of Appalachia. The old hardcore Baptist & Methodist churches didn't have hymnals (a lot of folks couldn't read) and they had a leader 'line-by-line' the hymns from memory. My grandfather did that for years in the hills of rural southwest MO. "I'll Fly Away", written by Albert Brumley in 1932 in Powell, MO, didn't make it to the radio until 1941, when it was first widely popularized. This is just another TV anachronism.
I remembered the name sequences after I wrote that, you're correct there, but probably not about the Martin guitar. You have to remember that farm people during the Depression simply had no cash at all. Case in point: My grandmother was a musician in a similar fashion during the Depression, and the best she could do was to swap a hog for a Gibson knock-off (which I still have). I don't believe anyone could swap a hog for a D-18, not even in 1935. It was a $300 instrument then ($2500 now).
I was a huge fan, and the 'corny' aspect hit home when I wrote a paper about the program for a broadcasting class in college. Just mentioning the title got moans and groans from classmates and teacher. I remember the series was not without anachronisms and inconsistencies, and this scene shows Ben playing an expensive Martin guitar (certainly out of reach for Pa Walton) and singing a song that wouldn't be popularized for several years, when the Selah Jubilee SIngers recorded it in 1941.
I used to watch this show every Thursday night at eight o'clock. Corny, yes, but I think I acquire much of my sense of family from the Waltons. I'd forgotten that Ben played the guitar.
@applesweeter 1) Because we'd be walking on them, otherwise. 2) I dream about...well, you know... 3) Most flying songs are written when the writer is already high. It's just a perspective thing. 4) Not really. Just spend 10 minutes in an airport & you'll be ready to strangle someone.
I remember this actress! (Waltons too of course) Does anyone know what happened to her?? Linda something wasn't it?? I always thought she was sooo beautiful.
Ben's not in this scene. That's Jason. Besides, Jason got paid working at the Dew Drop Inn as the piano player and working in the Haystack Gang band. I figure that for a musician, he would have nice musical instruments, so him having a nice guitar is not out of the question. Maybe Pa Walton wouldn't buy such a guitar, but Jason would.
These shows can still be seen on Visiontv.I remember the show well as I watched it every week with my family. My parents still watch it everyday on Vision and now the cable and sattelite companies want to take Vision off the air because it has stories that people can relate to and feel good about watching. They nsay people don't watch that kind of shows anymore.I say bring back those shows and get rid of some of the stuff that pollutes the TV airwaves like MuchMusic and stuff like that.
Ha, I think you're kidding about the time machine. But as even Earl Hamner (THE "Mr. Walton himself) admitted in an interview, the show did gradually lose energy in the final years.
Was that when Marty McFly showed up and tried to make everyone think his name was Clint Eastwood? I remember Ben Walton making a cameo in "Back To The Future" (along with Mary Ellen posing nude for Playboy, John-Boy going deaf and Erin making the news when her breast implants leaked silicone), so this must have been the flip side. Here's one for ya... Q: Who mows the grass on Walton's Mountain? A: Lawn-Boy.
as a 70s child I watched the Waltons and dearly loved them... I was in love with John boy. Sigh... he never called me.
No matter what's ailing you, you'll feel better after listening to this.
Linda Pearl was just wonderful!
Linda Purl, a natural beauty ❤️
Linda Purl has a lovely voice
One of the Greatest Gospel Songs ever written
Linda Purl is a beautiful actress, and sing very well! In the Walton’s she had the perfect country twang in this song. Wonderful!
The ever beautiful Linda Purl
I could fly away hearing Jason Walton sing this song.I am over the moon!

Good god when is this type of programming going to return to my TV set? these times made us what we are and now the reality crap is killing us.
I’m glad I have retro channels.
I love Linda Purl.
What a great version of this song. I love it.
Have you ever watched the deaf sing this. Precious!🎵🎵
Miss these great shows.

Sad Indeed!
You’re so right.
The Waltons was my favorite show. Never missed an episode. I don't remember this part here but I love that song so much. Very touching.
I was Born in the late 80s so I never got to watch shows like this but now seeing this it makes me want to watch this so bad. I will have to get it on amazon or something.
This is awesome. I wish there were more TV shows like this.
I love this song and the Waltons
This is so cute. I just can't.
Sound the alarm. The Waltons is coming back to The Hallmark Channel on March 21, 2011.
Very nice song ! I love The Waltons . I collect all episodes .
We just sang this song at church last Sunday night🎵🎵🎵
Great show saw the very first episode when it came out The homecoming that spun off the Waltons I watch it every year during the Holiday season
I loved that show

@JJ Yee Guitar. Too bad we in the USA are the laughing stock of the world with the political, morals, etc situation. Deplorable.....
I love to sing this song
great show!!
beautiful ❤❤
Linda Purl! Be still my heart.
She spent time on " Matlock"🎈🎈
you know what, they ARE pretty dang good!
Linda Purl was recently on "The Office" cast as Pam's mother!
I used to watch this show all the time.
She had a recurring role on "Happy Days" as Gloria, Richie's girlfriend.
She was the Fonzs girlfriend in a later season with heather o Rourke as her daughter
@@wendyrferrell1589 That's right. Her name was Ashley.
I remember when Curt’s sister showed up with a ridiculous southern accent.
Judy (Mary Ellen) is also a fine singer. She has videos on RUclips. She should have had a song in the show.
Part of the brilliance here, is that from the offset, you can tell she can actually sing. Also, there was a time when this was a new song!
Good show

@rocpet3. This show was primarily in the 70s

The way she glances to the side while singing reminds me of Nataly Dawn from the duo Pomplamoose.
I love Jason singing in the waltons
I was watching a show with Judy Norton (who acted as Mary Ellen Walton) that this young lady is now his wife in real life.
@Rachel Olvera. Had no idea what you just tried to convey about Judy Norton
I believe the young lady that with sang with the actor Jason became his wife , not Judy .
@@rachelolvera9435 Neither of them did.
i want to see the whole episdes for free
Daily motion also has the entire Waltons catalogue.
Mary West sockshare is a really good website

Linda Purl is also great as Ben Matlock's lawyer daughter in "Matlock"!
her name is linda purl

True. Curt her brother says that he's from West Virginia. The two of them sound nothing like each other, accent wise.

Linda Purl
aw be still my heart John boy ...lol...
Goodnight Jim Bob
i can't remember another actress that appeared twice on the show to play two characters. the other was the spoiled rich girl.
Ben's not in this scene. That's Jason. Besides, Jason got paid working at the Dew Drop Inn as the piano player and working in the Haystack Gang band. Who plays the woman who hires Vanessa in the end of this clip? She looks familiar and has such a kind face.
@paranormal33 She's with Jason.... but I like where ya went with it haha
Don't over analyze the song, just listen to the beautiful singing !
love it are all them waltons still alive? :D
@DANIEL MORRIS. No Daniel, grandpa, grandma, and the father John Walton all passed away.

Linda Purl.
That's an audition for the "Dew Drop Inn," right?
Lisa Colorado no I think it was a talent show or something.
Yes...lady flat out tells her afterwards she can work (sing) there every weekend.
@lelly1399 Try the version by jars of clay here on youtube:)
you know i'm as cynical as the next guy but what's really wrong with a show about nice people being nice to each other?
inthekitchen2. Absolutely nothing
I'd swear to Oh Glory that was Ashley Judd.
Why are theses experts listed as "full episodes"?

Who was the girl
Damn, Wilford Brimley was born old.
What does that have to do with the song
Is this part of a movie?
Lovely :)
Ha, I think you're kidding about the time machine. But as even Earl Hamner (THE "Mr. Walton himself) admitted in an interview, the show did gradually lose energy in the final years.
Most of them are. ^_^
The guy who plays the guitar is the Mad Magazine dude incarnate.
It wasn't written for The Waltons. It was written in 1929 by Albert E. Brumley.
I didn't like how she used Jason but Jsaon thought he was in love and she didn't wanted to be tie down
@Donna Jones. Me either. Jason was a doll.
She broke up with Ben and later became Fonzie's girlfriend.
