Makes a lot of sense the way you differentiate the "when" and "why" behind each lure, thanks Tyler.

I've always looked at it like a chatterbait is a finesse version of a spinnerbait and a swim jig is a finesse version of a chatterbait and a swimbait is a finesse version of a swim jig... But I've always lumped all 4 of those baits in a similar category and use them interchangeably depending on conditions. So the harsher the conditions (like muddy water and wind) I reach for a spinnerbait but if the water starts clearing up or I lose the wind I generally start stepping it down to a chatterbait, swim jig, or swimbait it just depends on how much the conditions change and the cover... I would even throw a square bill in that same category as those other baits...

Yeah, I like that. Makes sense to me.

I see it in the same order except I think spinnerbaits are a more finesse version of a chatterbait. My reasoning is that chatterbaits make lots of sound, and spinnerbaits are silent but still have vibration

I was just wondering where swim baits fit into this. I guess under spins could fit along side swim jigs. No big skirt, but a little flash and vibration.

I’ve definitely gotten better at fishing all 3 of those using the tips from your channels. One of the best guys on RUclips for people like me having just started taking bass fishing serious within the past few years. Caught my PB on a chatterbait in super shallow water a couple years back and then broke it again the next year on a spinnerbait. PB on swim jig this year incoming 🫡

I’m glad you’re saying that about a swim jig. I am fishing a kayak tourney this weekend that I expect a jerkbait will work well but I want something different to throw and I’m planning to throw a swim jig some too once they get wise to a jerkbait and I want something a little different.

Good information, thank you. Newbie question, do all of these “need” a trailer? Is it more of a situational thing, or should I be matching a trailer with these lures every time? Learning a lot from your videos. Thank you!!!

I fish one of these and it’s the spinnerbait. Never caught anything on a swim jig and do nothing but lose chatter baits.

I have really tried chatterbaits. Maybe it’s a confidence thing, but I can catch em on spinnerbait a lot, but never a chatterbait.

I think the entire bass population in the state of Louisiana runs from chatterbaits now. Used to crush em on it, sometimes the only bait I would throw for weeks. Now, can't hardly get a bite on it.
