Your advice to throw a glide whenever you feel the urge to throw topwater really resonated with me. It was just the advice I really needed to hear it seems. I had the most success with a glide today that I've ever had. 👊

Everything went on the back burner with FFS coming in. Crankbait sales have died as has most other baits but minnow plastics.

I only use fluorocarbon; mono works, and braid isn’t necessary. With braid, a backlash means the bait’s gone. Tying a leader is pointless since the line is only as strong as the leader, and constant casting weakens the knot. Straight braid also sucks because fish can see it, and the lack of stretch means you lose more fish.

When i get to the lake in november and walk out on the ice, im thinking winter pattern 😅😅😅.. i need to move south lol

I have a problem with some of my spinnerbaits where I'll put a swimbait trailer on them and it screws up the action. Does anyone know if I could put something like a spunk shad to just give it more profile without messing up the action. One of the problem baits is the boohyah covert spinnerbait.

The 190 works great for stripers & blues year-round surfcasting & from the boat, it is my favorite top water to throw!

Spinnerbaits took a back seat to crankbaits for quite a few years and I decided to start throwing them more and now I have a hard time wanting to pick up a crankbait. One of the most overlooked techniques is customizing a spinnerbait to look like a big blue gill. Everyone throws one that imitates a shad. I can go behind guys on pressured lakes in ohio and get hammered with a blue gill imitator while the shad spinnerbait guys catch 1lbers. Skipping them under docks will get you so many bites right behind the other 25 boats flipping or using a little worm around docks as well.

I've fished for over 35 years and have never used a trailer hook. This comment may initially sound like a dig, but you might find it agreeable if you read my words entirely. I believe the size of the spinner bait and retrieval speed are more significant factors than a trailer hook. I've never had issues hooking up with bass, at least not to the point of frustration or desiring to implement an additional hook. This strategy seems like a security blanket approach or one that is more about building confidence in your bait, and in that aspect, I can see how it may benefit some anglers. I recommend using an H&H for those who want more hooks in a compact lure. I've caught bass of all sizes in streams, rivers, ponds, and lakes from the shore and the boat with them. While some may prefer a more parabolic rod, the budget angler can still use the same medium-heavy rod they do with single-hook applications. One might occasionally have issues with the double hooks catching wood or grass, so there is a slight learning curve to using an H&H, but they remain highly effective if you know the terrain and keep them above debris or structure. You can fish these lures in the same areas as traditional spinner baits, and they will entice strikes. I catch 4-5 pounders on these every spring! In closing, if you snag and lose one, it's a $2-$3 lure that won’t break the bank. Give them a try if you like extra hooks and maybe have been sleeping on the old-school H&H spinner. Chances are bass in your area haven’t seen many of them, and the novelty may play in your favor this late in the season or with heavily pressured bodies of water. Best of luck out there!

I caught more fish this summer on a spinner bait on my kayak then I did in five years fishing from the bank. .think I've caught maybe 24 fish this summer and maybe 35 to 40 since I started bass fishing

I find stopping the retrieve and letting it set for a 3 or 5 second period gives the fish, if coming up from 20 or so fow. gives them time to travel that distance. Bone is my go to colour and when you catch 2, 22in. smallies on one cast you know you have a battle on your hands. Nice light Spinning rod 7'2" does my most work. Kill and go best description going.

for lighter glide like a 4-5 in and even 6 in 15-17 lbs flouro is recommended. for heavy glides in that 8-12 in range 20-25 lbs. the weight of fluoro effects the nose action of the bait. mono makes it move up every twitch. too heavy flouro will make it nose down. its gotta be the perfect weight to keep the bait parallel.

Gotta disagree on the trailer hook deal. I use trailer hooks 100 percent of the time on buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. I don’t seem to get hung up that much either. I know if I ever stop using em I’ll lose a hawg n regret it. Thanks for the tips my man, one of my favorite channels

Tough to beat a spinnerbait this time of year !! Pitching it into cover is a super effective technique and you really add lot can get a lot more casts in doing it that way

I always thought heavy mono would be best for glides since there is memory. With fluoro you’ll stretch stretch stretch break by the end of the day.

Love how you also use curly tail grubs for spinnerbait trailers! I do the same thing. SPRO Wave Tail Grubs for trailers are the BOMB! I have them in every colors and sizes because they are that good. Use them for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and swimjigs mostly. I got teased for doing this a few years back but stuck to it because I get HELLA bites.

Caught my biggest smallies on the choppo. That top water action is exciting. They usually hit it right when it hits the water.

I hear people say the MegaBass Jerkbaits suspend perfectly out of the box, but I have 3 of them and they don't. 2 Vision 110's both float to the top within a few seconds and an X-80 strike darter that sinks pretty quickly. I took the split ring off the X-80 which helps a bit and added some wire to the 110's to keep them down. Not a huge deal, but it's a little aggrivating for a premium product that doesn't do what it's supposed to.

For a newbie I would suggest a spro chad shad st croix bass x swimbait rod $100 any 200 size reel and 17-20lb copoly only i dont do braid to leader because of the weak point I don't do floro because it sinks I don't do mono because to much stretch. Copoly izzorline or cxx is the happy median 1/4 reel handle inputs and sometimes I will do what is known as chopping salad

Skip the s-waver and try the Jerry Rago Thrunderhawk Cha Cha Glide. It's cheaper on Tackle Warehouse and infinity easier to learn as it actually glides.
