Watch Lucy Here: • Lucy
A woman, accidentally caught in a dark deal, turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.
For all of you thinking she became the thumb drive, that's incorrect. She literally uses the guys phone to say "I am everywhere"; in my view, she became omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent, wich means she is everywhere, she knows everything and she can do anything, just like god.
"I am everywhere" except in the thumb drive!
Correct but we don’t speak on God in all lower case letters
If she used 100% of her brain, she would have become a pickle.

It’s a popcorn sci fantasy movie. Don’t overanalyse it and just enjoy it for what it is.
It seemed to me that they had an interesting story to start with and then they didn't know how to end it. They just threw around a lot of digital graphics without any meaning and then told us she is everywhere. She sort of explained that at the beginning to mean that she no longer exists.
Elder Scrolls Zero-Sum'ed herself out of the God-Head's dream and not tries to live life outside of it.
didn't know I had the control over my thoughts to pull that off.
Overanalysis is not required to know that this was movie was a disaster. "Enjoy it for what it is." Sorry, I'm not sure how to do that. The Fifth Element (also by Luc Besson) was campy and flawed, but could be enjoyable for "what it is." Flawed but brilliant in its own way. Lucy is flat out a bad movie. Brilliant premise, mixed-quality dialogue, horrible writing overall, mixed-quality acting. Mediocre direction at best. These ingredients do not add up to a good movie, or even a watchably fun "popcorn SF/fantasy movie" (I assume that is what you meant to say). Sorry.
@@davidhomer78 then you clearly didn't understand it because in this last scene, she's absorbing the entire knowledge of the universe down to a single cell. The entire graphic sequence was the creation of the earth / universe in reverse.
---She started in Paris, then went to New York,
---Flew back in time to the natives,
---Went back to dinosaurs,
---Met lucy the Australopithecus (the first "human"),
---Then we see earth,
---Then it shows the Collision of Theia (the giant-impact theory that hypothesizes the creation of our moon)
---After that it shows the "Pillars of Creation" located in the Eagle Nebula that have dust and gas currently in the process of forming new stars
---It shows the 1st stars
---The "Dark Ages"
---Quantum Flucuations / Inflation
---Then it shows the cells going back into the Primeval / Primordial Atom (which is the theory that the universe started with the implosion of a single particle called the Primeval Atom)
---Then it shows Lucy's eye intertwined with shots of the Primeval Atom
She achieves 100% and transcends into deity status and turns into a god. She becomes one with the universe. She's omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent hence the "I am Everywhere" text he gets.
It truly wasn't just a mumbled, nonsensical montage of random stuff. It was literally the creation of the universe (along with earth leading up to current time in the movie) shown in reverse chronological order. (and the sequences are in reverse as well clearly show as we see the 1st stars going back into itself and the cells forming back into one)
The expression on the Cop's face at the end - he's thinking how on earth he's going to do the paper work on this one...
I think it was more like how on earth am I gonna smash if she's everywhere
I liked this movie. Ya see, I'm one of those people who can enjoy great acting and a good story while suspending reality for a couple of hours. It's called IMAGINATION 😊
The line between suspension of disbelief, and being a simpleton who laughs at jangling keys can seem thin sometimes. Not for this movie though, this is just dumb.

The funny thing about this movie is that the average human uses 100% of their brain in reality. So why aren't we all everywhere? The 10% thing is a myth.
True. We just don’t use all of it all of the time.
Says you brainiac.
@@bobross8569 Nope. Says the neuroscientists. It makes no evolutionary sense to have excess capacity that is never used. You would still have to expend the body's resources maintaining the "unused" structures. Evolution just doesn't do that.

I think it was to represent concepts beyond human comprehension.
@dewilton7712 she is understanding the whole of time and space. Creation itself
It refers to pseudoscience than anything. The stuff that say that our thoughts affect the world.
It also promotes the nonsensical myth that humans only use 10% of their brains.
Now they always come out with a second movie for everything. I wish this would’ve been one of them.

It is not 100% of her brain capacity. It's 100% of the mind. Once she gets it she dissolves as Lucy and merges into the whole. She's everywhere, just like god. Metaphysically speaking she gets rid of her ego and merges into the divinity. It's called enlightenment.

I know. In The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, Tuco is caught in a bathtub when a bad guy comes in, points his gun, but runs his mouth. Tuco’s response is classic: first, he shoots the bad guy using a revolver he had underwater; then Tuco says, “When you have to shoot, shoot. Don’t talk.”

Knowledge and power comes out of thin air. You don’t have to earn it and it can take little time. Yup.
How it should have ended. At 2:54, Freeman should have said "My God, It's full of stars!", cut to black screen and the 2001 space odyssey theme.
Even better, the computer morphs into The Monolith, as the theme for "2001" softly plays in the background and David Bowman speaks from it saying, "Hello Lucy, I am David Bowman and this is HAL...we have soo much to talk about." 😊

It's what would have been the best second part of a film that never arrived
This is the best movie make by humans
This movie is a joke, we use 100% of our brain.
Well, the first part of your statement is absolutely true as far as it being a movie. It’s not a documentary. They never say this is a fact. And we may in fact, use 100% of our brain, but we can’t use 100% of it 100% of the time and focus it on one single taskthat can’t be done. That’s where the sci-fi the fantasy the movie comes in.

When I first watched the movie, I liked the idea of using 100% of the brain. However, this concept stems from a limited understanding of the mind, which actually exists within time and space. By transcending these limits, you acknowledge your spiritual nature and human experience. In higher dimensions like 5D-beyond time (4D) and space (3D)-you could replicate everything Lucy does in the movie. However, the human brain, constrained by time and space, cannot achieve this. The movie intriguingly tries to interpret spiritual phenomena within the confines of the physical world. The limit of humanity is trying to explain everything with the brain and logic - even miracles. This is not how the astral realm works.
She couldn't reach 100%, because once you get past 4%, you can't be an actor.
The guy who wrote this movie was at about 3%.
It's a scientific fact that a normal person uses 100% of their brain. But surprisingly enough, what you are saying is still correct.
It appears you have no concept of the difference between reality, cinema, actor, vs. fiction, story, character.
Those images on the screen do not intend to mean that Scarlett Johansson, the actress, achieved some stupendous level of real-life genius. The scene of the movie shows that the character, Lucy, did, in a fantastic way.
I don't know whether Miss Johansson is a smart woman or not, but given her trade and how successful she is in it, most certainly she knows the difference between the aforementioned concepts better than the two of you.
And, try to do some screenwriting any given day. You'll see it takes way more than a 3% to write a story that is grammatically correct, coherent, engaging, balanced, moving, suspenseful, entertaining, either original or faithful to its source, AND worthy of the attention of some studio readers and execs, AND as inexpensive to produce as likely to earn profits and awards.
Given the comments' value, hardly.
@@TerryProtheroit was also a scientific fact that claimed the everyone uses 10% of their brain. It’s interesting to see various generations go back and forth with stuff that’s just being changed and revised for their generation to learn.

Using 100% of your brain would mean every neuron firing at once. That's like having the worst seizure ever. I can't remember the % but we dont use much at once. Just different parts at different times
The weird thing about this scene is at the source of all things, I actually saw the exact same thing; a black globule that when intention was inserted would create a lifestream on the inside of some living being. I saw it as the point of creation and yes I was tripping balls when I saw this.

@JayDeeMC you’ve certainly proved some beings on YT do only use 10% of their brains if you read their comments. Since areas of our brains are specialized, we do use 100% of our brains both day and night. Someone in the comments was correct in saying not all neurons are 100% active. Neurons are living cells so though they may only be operating with a low activity level, but they are still active. The 10% myth has been debunked for decades. There aren’t special abilities to be activated with a bolt of lightning or a fall into toxic soup. If a part of the brain is damaged adjacent neurons will take up the task but possibly differently because neighboring neurons are reacting to different stimuli. When you lose your sight, your other senses don’t go into overdrive. Without the distraction of sight, you are able to focus on a different sense. Also our brain cells fill in gaps. To put it simply, You think you’re seeing in 4K but you’re really seeing in 720p, your brain just fills in extra pixels. It’s why magic eye paintings work.
Douglas Adam’s had it right. Lucy proved it. We’re doomed to stupidity.
