Hi , I've been building bikes for a long time I stopped powder coating frames about 15 years ago , several reasons , it's not an outside finish look at anything that been outside for a few years and you'll see the evidence , it's designed to be used on racking and filing cabinets , it also is effected by sunlight loosing it's colour , it's also a complete shit to get off it has to be shot blasted , then the frame has to be rubbed down to get it smooth again , it gets very expensive , so everything I do gets painted and it's the same price and more resilient to spanner rash , just passing on a bit of experience , enjoying your videos . Thanks
Hey tubes here is guy who knows his shit! Listen hard to what he has to say! Powder coat has a place in painting but not a great paint for scooters!! Use a high build epoxy it is a breeze to fix imperfections both will your painting an after when it needs a going over to fix stuff! Listen to the big Johnson!! Ho' Ho, He's been there knows it is a bad road to wander down!! Name like that your gonging to get a little ribbing! Tell like it is. Made for industrial equipment that is not going to set out side!
wow that frame looks great! The Jb weld is smart for filler, good idea. Appreciate your vids, as I am going to go over my newly purchased 1982 seca 650 this winter here in Canada.
This series has gave me so much inspiration to build my xj750 I have and so far just like you said it's a blast. I have ordered a m-unit as I told you about in the last video but I want to make sure I wire everything correctly. Cant wait to see how you wire everything up and it might give me some ideas on how to go forward with that. Thanks so much Jish. Love your videos.
Great colour choice. Definitely be considering that colour for the frame on my project now. Would look pretty good with some electric blue thrown in there.
Simply Stunning powder coat and your prep was also spot on. This is going to be one BEAUTIFUL Bike!! I sure hope there's a little splash of orange in the bike. But, I've got a soft spot for a nice metallic orange, even if used as a small accent. I can't wait for the full paint video! Cheers again my Friend! Zip~
@@jishh That's awesome! Any time I'm working with round stock, it's a practice I use to help keep the evidence of sanding/grinding marks to a minimum! So glad it worked out! Cheers Mate! Zip~
Loving the project an love the colour, thanks for the JB Weld tip, I'm at a very similar stage on my Kawasaki GT550 Cafe project ( Yep, another 1980's stodgy Japanese shaftie) and have a few welding blemishes to sort.
You have a blessed mind ang hand to create a such a beautiful piece of art sir your my idol if only Ihave money so I can purchase that to you I love all of your art sir God bless you sir
Hey man awesome job I’ve been following this build for awhile and I’m happy to see your project making such progress I have the same bike keep it up 👌🏻👍🏻✌🏻
Jish slowly working on it. Had it running an driving then it stopped shifting gears so I gotta figure that out I always watch your videos for inspiration 😁
Looks amazing - love the colour... what's the score with electrical earthing? ~did you need to keep any bare metal to earth the engine to the frame or am I over thinking? :)
Hello Friend! I'm a new subscriber to your channel. I want to say your video's are Great! I'm currently building a 1979 Yamaha xs 750! It's my first motorcycle project! I love it so much ! I live in Toronto On. It would be cool to have more places where people can go and work on their projects! Pay a fee , but have tools and equipment that most people who want to start a project could go were the resources and other people with all different skill levels, can help each other. Just an idea . Keep it up man your doing good things!
I know I did a lot of reading up first and there are even conductive metal fillers out there. I even bought some in preparation for this video but the coaters had tried and tested the JB weld with no problems so I took their word and it did indeed work a treat :)
Just make sure you get the frame shot blasted first then apply the JB weld before sending it off to coating ✌️ speak to your local powdercoater and see what they say 😁
Because i work full time, have a part time job, film whilst i do work on the bike, and then spend just as much time editing... why do you think its taking so long?
Wasn't expecting that colour but wow, it looks trick as!
Thanks man! Its not a common one i feel

I can see yellow, white, and dark grey working well with the frame.
Hmmmm sounds a good combo!

Watched Cb125 in full ,now enjoying this xj build, nice choice on frame colour , looking forward to end result 😁.......👍
My blood pressure went up when I saw “JB Weld” on a custom bike thumbnail, but this use is actually interesting / not suicidal
Looks great , I've done a Norton Atlas in black love the featherbed frame .

Mate, it's gorgeous. Hat's off to you, now DON'T scratch it!!!!!
Haha! Thanks Andy. Going to try my best to keep it clean and not scratch it!
What color powdercoat is the frame exactly?
Anthracite ✌️
Great! Thanks for sharing this video! Like from Elly
That looked like a lot of work. I'm going to guess white for the tank.

A little late but you know powder coat doesn't stick to jb weld. The powder will only stick to conductive materials like metal.
I know I did a lot of reading up first and there are even conductive metal fillers out there. I even bought some in preparation for this video but the coaters had tried and tested the JB weld with no problems so I took their word and it did indeed work a treat :)
@@jishh How is the quality of the powder coat after a few years? I want to try JB weld.. Can you still recommend this?
@@pascal6547 holding up great!
Very nice....
I heard that jb would not conduct therfore you couldn't powdercoat it?
I was also under the same assumption but the powder coater recommended it, we tried it, and it worked! So i can confirm it works 👍
@@jishh cheers mate. That's saved me 100 quid on lab metal 💪
Just make sure you get the frame shot blasted first then apply the JB weld before sending it off to coating ✌️ speak to your local powdercoater and see what they say 😁
Why so long procedure before you finish it? Almost 22 part.. I cant wait the result..
Because i work full time, have a part time job, film whilst i do work on the bike, and then spend just as much time editing... why do you think its taking so long?
Lush colour. Speed blocks yellow and black for the rest will be classic!
Black mate with a bit of black red and mate red chesus ##
Please
Please
Please
Might be allergic to the metal of the mask nose clip
Maybe! I tend it wear it for a few hours solid and almost every time im working on the bike
Glad i wont need to use it again for a while!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONT PAINT THE TANK!!!! that classic silver with the blue stripe is awesome
It needs painting as its falling to bits 😂 but dont worry, have something in mind that will do it justice ⚡️
You've got too many power tools.
Jish, Love your channel! Please, trim the talk and lose the close-up selfie monologues.
Sorry will but i like to explain what i am doing as i get people asking why i dont talk enough in other videos 🤷♂️ cant win can i
