I also liked that it took repairs to remove the borgifyed look on ships. Also we don't see it here but on the flipside how lifeless Borg stuff looks when controlled by another race.
@Charlie Holland @Amit Divecha The reason the game didn't have Mirandas, Galaxies, or Excelsiors was because they only got to have 6 ships per faction and they already skipped the Galaxy as a battleship versus the Sovereign, and the Akira as the cruiser versus the Intrepid; and they didn't think those made sense as artillery ships. That's also why the plot-armored Defiant is cannon-fodder. Why Armada II didn't have the Miranda or Excelsior though, is a good question. I honestly wouldn't have minded if they had just stuck duplicate ships into the Federation tree, so you could just pick which class of ship you wanted for each role. That way you could dump Mirandas, Galaxies, Intrepids, and Excelsiors into the game by just having them serve as alternative appearances for the Destroyer, Cruiser, and Battleship roles.
Last time I played this mission, I realised the Premonition was armed with the same Temporal Distortion device as the Manheim facility, and recharges special weapon energy *much* faster. Because of that, I had the Borg base half dead by the time Picard turned up :D
2x Mannheim devices (the facility + the u.s.s. prempnition) right from the start is enough to kill the entire borg base without any klingon or romulan help
You could just make your PC dual boot & use Windows 7 & unofficial patch 1.3. There's also a clunky way to get it to work in Windows 10 but it doesn't work for everyone.
If you take into account that in this game every species has like 6 starships besides freigters and construction ships, the developers had to cut the line somewhere. They couldn't even really incorporate Galaxy Class ships, and since they already had something in the higher tier powerlevel (the sovereign) and mid tier stuff (akria and steamrunner) there was sadly no space for them. Buuut in the mods they do (Yes I realize I am answering to a 9 year old comment)
@Kinyar22 Well there are plenty of asteroids in the Solar System....They could have fallen through a wormhole/been dragged in to work with Utopia Planetia...errrm... In other words gogo Trek Science!!
It's like $10 on GOG. If you don't own the game get it from there and it will work If you own a physical copy of the game then you need to do some pretty serious patching to get it to work on modern systems and even then it's ropey You'll need the unofficial 1.3 patch and there is also a Direct Draw patch you'll need. It will then work on Windows 10 but to be honest not much better than it did for me a decade ago Personally I'd just buy it from GOG where it will be more optimised. It'll be my 3rd copy of A1 and 2nd of A2 but worth it for the optimisation
@@Boomer2k6 Wow! Thanks for the prompt reply! For the record, your strategy while very effective. Isn't as much fun for me for as trying to assimilate the other side! 😜
Lol How much does that suck... Go through all that to get the USS Yamato back, only to have Borg turrets kill it en route for repairs. lol I really cheered when you took it back too. Shame. lol

No you're not the only one to question that. In fact I'm even questioning why we don't get to construct Galaxy-Class ships, like in the second game

Something to think about: this is the first time you've had the complete Fed Tech Tree. The Fed campaign didn't give you everything.
I'd love to see this campaign again but with the GOG version
It IS a lot smoother
*Possible Foreshadowing*

I wonder if the Borg have Tachyon Detection Grid researched at any point here.
"Oh, and there's another fleet of Sovereigns."
Got enough Sovereigns, mate?
Not trying to necro this comment but.....YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH SOVEREIGNS!!!
This game needs a remaster imo
While we're at it, thanks for the image of Kirk, Picard, Sisko and Janeway as 'Evolution'.
03:20 You didn't think to use the Steamrunners against the Borg sensor arrays?
that's so cool playing the same mission with both sides
I Love that Uss Premonition Temporalvessel ship the design is just overhuman
I love this game. Still have it but windows 10 will not play it. thinking of getting a xp just to play this game again.

Just build a retro gaming pc so much better for old games
Three years old but the game just released on GOG and is available to play on Windows 10
I had this game.I thought it was really fun
I know man! It was such a blast! I played the second one too, it was ok but not as good. They are creating a third one too.
Not quite, 'Armada III' is a Total Conversion Mod being done by a non-affiliated group for the game Sins of a Solar Empire.
I just built a couple lines of turrets and focused on ship building and atks
Would love to have this game... 😭😭😭
Am I the only one questioning why the backbone of Starfleets fores aka the Miranda and Excelior classes are absent from this game??

@Kinyar22 How do you know we don't? Do you work for NASA?
Those ships u had with the defiant class arnt sapoesd to have Lazer they had range bombs to hit stations eith
"theres borg CRAP al over it..."
For fun, no matter what race I am playing as. I try to win by assimilating most of the opposing forces! 😁
They were cannon fodder for the Dominion, sadly...
You know u can cap. Borg cubes
The best is capturing the opposing side's building unit and building simultaneous tech!
Can anyone give me easy to follow instructions on how to get this game for windows 10 free?

The fuck? They actually got Stewart to do this?
Kleavers
I don't think there are any next generation games with Stewart! Who else can do Picard?
@@lordadorable1140 Brent Spiner
A wizard did it.
