  • Come work an attractions shift with me at Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom! ☠⚔ In this video I give you a detailed look at a day in the life of an attractions cast member at Disney World, as well as an inside look at PAC (Parade Audience Control) and Fireworks shifts, because many attractions cast members work those too.
    Getting the attractions role during my DCP was a dream role and if any of you are placed in the attractions role during your own Disney College Program, have a blast with it:)
    This video going into a Day in the Life of attractions cast members is Part Two of my attractions series, so if you haven't seen Part One (which goes into more general detail about hours, wages, guest interactions and stories, tips, etc), don't forget to go back and watch that one as well:)

    I injured my foot before going to Disneyworld and needed to rent a wheelchair while I was there, and the staff were SO NICE to me and made me feel extra special! I got invited into the fast track lanes, brought to the front row during shows, given random high fives. It was such a nice experience. I was around 28 at the time too!

    I worked attractions at Hollywood Studios. You mentioned that you didn’t know how PAC really worked for Fantasmic and there is actually an answer. So Fantasmic actually has their own group of cast members that are dedicated to PAC. Like they would get assigned there for the day because it’s it’s own theater area. However, on busier days they’d sometimes ask for help when man-power was spread thin. The people who work over at Hyperion Theater/Frozen Sing-a-long are also PAC cast members as they work PAC for the Cavalcades. On busier days at Fantasmic, they’ll get pulled to help out there.
    Another fun fact is that they actually do PAC at Disneyland much differently! I used to work Food & Bev at Disneyland and I once got pulled to do PAC during the fireworks with zero training. It actually wasn’t that hard, and it was kinda fun to break the monotony of selling burgers all day.

    When my son was about 2 years old the person in Tower at small world waved to him and it MADE HIS DAY. We had no idea at the time that the position was called “Tower” but we called her, “Tower girl” and we talk about it every.single.trip when we ride small world or Pirates. We all wave and hope for a wave back. Now I understand why we usually don’t get a wave back! That person is busy! 😊 But, it was truly a magical moment that still lives with our family 14 years later!
    Very interesting video! Thank you!

    Former Stands West Food and Beverage CP from 2016 here. I’m honestly so, so jealous hearing about the PAC and Firework shifts (mostly PAC!) I knew a little about the shift back then due to one of my friends also working Pirates of the Caribbean at the time, and my girlfriend at time’s roommate working Splash Mountain.
    I’m sad that food and bev never got the chance to help out. My homeland was also Adventure and I usually worked Sunshine Tree Terrace or Aloha Isle. Aloha was fun because you could kinda see Festival of Fantasy through the cut through. Wishes (the firework show at the time) was another story. Because we were facing the opposite way that you guys are at POTC, we didn’t have the luxury to watch lol. But it was fun to close Sunshine every night (we closed an hour before the park) with the Wishes soundtrack playing. Even though we couldn’t see the actual fireworks and only could see the lights flashing on the ground.
    Your video truly makes me want to return one day and try to get into attractions!

    Loved these last two videos! Even though I’m more on the “design team” for these things, I still love learning as much as possible about the operations of everything. I just got a call a few days ago to do some Blue Sky development for a new project. That’s always exciting as it’s kind of a top tier design team that works on the very initial concepts and design for something new. In this case it’s just myself, a show producer, show director and writer meeting to brainstorm and consolidate ideas. It’s still 4 years off but so exciting to start on!

    This was such an good video! I just finished working at Carowinds as a ride operator and will likely be getting a job at Universal or Disney. Carowinds being an amusement park rather than a theme park there are some key differences but it was so reassuring to know that so many of the positions are the same but with different names. Tower sounds like it is what we could call Drive. Your in the booth with ultimate control and say over the ride. Group seems wayyy more fun here than my experience because you actually have a constant flow of guests.

  • @hollum1648
    @hollum1648 2 месяца назад

    Pan has no tower, it’s janky 😂 it runs on paper clips from the 1970s and prayers that the ride will still turn on each morning
    (And Small World Tower is called Tower but it’s way more like a standard load console position, very chill, just good vibes and waving at people, my FAVORITE position)

    I worked in Frontierland Attractions at Magic Kingdom from 2017 - 2021 and then went to World Discovery Attractions at Epcot 2021 - Present
    When we did PAC, when doing take down, we would do our side. Then our Clippers would also clip through Liberty Square, our pluggers would still plug through Liberty Square as well. But our Rollers would leave and then you guys would do the Rolling. Then at the Bridge between Liberty Square and Main Street, all of us would crowd control. Seems like PAC has changed a bit since I last worked there.
    I know a lot of Cast don't like Merge, but I don't mind it, but also depends because everyone's Merge is different. The only Merge I never cared to work for was Big Thunder Mountain
    I love Grouper, no matter which Attraction I have ever worked at. It's just so much fun
    For Tower, all of the Attractions I worked that had Tower, we had monitors. We aren't allowed to wave to guests. The only time we are really allowed to look away from the Monitors are like trying to call a coord, or writing on the CLE's

    dumb question.. But when you did pac, how many times did you change your costume ? You talked about getting to wear the jungle cruise outfit for the parades. But when you did fireworks that is a different outfit. Did you have to go to costuming or did your already have multiply outfits for the day? I have loved watching all your DCP videos!

    • @DareToElsewhere
      @DareToElsewhere  Год назад

      Not at all, So if I had PAC and then also an attractions shift after, I would pack my pirates costume and change in the locker room backstage before I clocked into my pirates shift. Costuming is a whole bus ride away but they let you have multiple costumes at once :) For fireworks we didn’t change out of our pirates costume, everyone just wears their own attraction’s costume for that.

      Oh for part time I’m not sure to be honest! One thing I do know though is that after a certain amount of time you can apply for a transfer to a different park/land when spots open up there. So I know nothing about initial part time placement but I do know moving around is doable once you have your foot in the door

    Hello! Love your videos! They are so interesting and I love learning more about DCP roles!
    I had a quick question about Pirates (and attractions in general if you know):
    Do they put the vehicles away in the storage areas every night during closing and take them all out during opening? Or do they just park all of the vehicles towards the loading area overnight?
    Thank you!

    • @DareToElsewhere
      @DareToElsewhere  Год назад +1

      Glad you like them!:) So I’m not sure about other attractions but for us the only vehicles in storage were ones that needed to be fixed or cleaned, so during closing we just had a process to get all the boats out of the loading and unloading areas and into the ride itself. Then at opening you would just start up the ride:)

    Question: On my last trip, I saw someone actually in the backdrop of one of the city scenes- I noticed the outline of a human head in the shadows and looked at it for long enough that the person actually waved to me! What do you think that person was doing? I assume it was a CM there for some reason, but I assume they're not supposed to be visible to guests, lol.

    • @DareToElsewhere
      @DareToElsewhere  5 месяцев назад +1

      Could have been George, the resident ghost 😂
      If they were on a sort of balcony, it could have been a CM trying to replace one of the boats with one in storage, but if it was somewhere else I honestly have no clue! I would say maintenance, but no one is able to be onstage in the scenes unless the whole entire ride is shut down for safety reasons. Very strange 😂

    And how often would u have an evening shift then a morning shift the next day?

    • @DareToElsewhere

      Yep! Fireworks shifts were only like 2-3 hours at the end of the night so we always worked the attraction for the day first and then just went to fireworks instead of finishing the closing the shift at the attraction.
      I can’t remember how often that would happen tbh but I do remember I worked a lot of evening shifts because the full time/part time people wanted the morning shifts as much as possible!
