    So glad to have this handy guide to attractions as I'll be in attractions in the summer. Also, lovely to see you active and posting another video as you are one of my favourite Disney content creators! x

    Awesome video! I would have given anything to be in the DCP when I first went to college. I am and have always been a Disney nut and have studied everything I could get my hands on about the property since I learned of its existence in the 80’s. I’m definitely an old Disney kid now. Lol I would love to see a video talking about the actual college classes though. I would guess pretty standard stuff but also the learning environment and skill of the teachers. May not be the most interesting topic. Just sort of the flip side of the coin.

      I wish I could but the mass majority of the classes were on hold during my program since I was the second program post COVID:( the classes aren’t a mandatory part of the program as it’s mostly focused on working in the parks but they usually have way more cool seminars, classes, and backstage tours available than when I was there! I did take one leadership seminar that was helpful though:)

    just got hired at Disney World in Attractions, but, do you know how many hours a part time attractions member gets. I am courious since Orlando is getting or is very expensive. If anyone can help that's great for some piece of mine. Thank You.

    • @DareToElsewhere
      @DareToElsewhere  Год назад +1

      Congrats!! I don’t know too much about part time hours, sorry! But I do know the PT cast members at my location preferred PT for sure cause they weren’t worked way overtime like the FT cast members can be and they typically had no problem picking up extra shifts for extra money (sometimes just with leader approval) since FTs and CPs are alwaysss trying to give away shifts.

    So you get assigned a job? So before you start your job they assign you like attractions or food? You cant say that you want to work in attractions and they'll give it to you?

    • @DareToElsewhere
      @DareToElsewhere  3 месяца назад

      So if you do the Disney College Program, yes, you get assigned. They sometimes change whether or not you get a say at all, when I applied we got absolutely 0 say in where we wanted to work, but sometimes they let you order all the roles in preference order on the application and sometimes you can try to explain over the phone interview what role you think you’d be really good at and have experience in to try to sway them. But with the DCP, you always have to be open to getting assigned anything regardless of preference.
      If you just go part time/full time instead meaning no college program, no Disney apartment, just a job (which can be harder to get with no DCP experience but is possible), then you can apply for specifically what job you want to do (but I believeee you have to be open to any park/location? Like you can apply for attractions but not “Haunted Mansion” specifically?)

  • @taylorlynn534

    I was supposed to be attractions during Fall 2020 DCP (which was cancelled), and due to medical reasons, I was most likely going to be living in Flamingo. Because there were supposed to be 5 complexes at that time, Flamingo was a designated MK only building from what I heard, so I was potentially going to be attractions at MK before covid cancelled the program. This video makes me imagine what could have been, as I never ended up doing the DCP after the cancellation:(

    Hello Paige - former WDW cast member from the seventies here. I was hired as a monorail host in 1974 (back when we actually "piloted" the trains), which is where I stayed during my almost 3 year employment (there was a cross training program in the summer of '76 where I learned to pilot a ferry boat for a couple of weeks). Interesting how things have changed. We got a week of training before they turned us loose. 2 days of orientation before reporting to your location and beginning training. Not nearly as structured as it appears to be now. I've had several different jobs with other companies during my career and I still consider my time as a WDW cast member the best job I ever had for many reasons, not the least of which were the friendships I made way back then that have endured to the present day. Very fond memories of my time there. Thanks for the video.

    thank you for making this great video!!! Is being a shy person a barrier 😅 i’m generally shy but i suddenly can be very outgoing and ok with interacting with people while dying of anxiety from the inside lol. would that be ok? like i really wanna work there but i’m afraid ill not do good lol

    • @DareToElsewhere
      @DareToElsewhere  Год назад +1

      Of course:) And no, I’m seriously exactly the same way! I even had the exact same worry😂 Like I’m so quiet at first around people but I’ve always still been good at customer service even if it makes me feel anxious lol so as long as you think you can handle customer service you’ll be fine:) There are both introverts and extroverts working Disney:)

      Thank you!:) It wasn’t too hard! It was just a multiple choice test you had to get 100% on but you had several tries and help, and then they would basically just watch you do the job for the day in all the positions to make sure you’re solid! I go way more into detail about it in my DCP Training vlog if you’re really curious :)

    I’m considering the dcp and this was super helpful! I am a freshman currently and just switched my major to hospitality management so it could really help me with my career. I’m thinking about applying for the spring of my junior year. This video really gave me good insight into the role and just the dcp as a whole. You made a really good point about getting to know the park/ land and that’s a great piece of advice !!

    • @DareToElsewhere
      @DareToElsewhere  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks!:) Yeah honestly having Disney on your resume moving forward, especially in hospitality just opens so many doors! At my current job with United airlines, recruiters later told me that having Disney experience is basically an automatic “in” for hiring 🤷🏻‍♀️ Good luck if you decide to apply and with hospitality!:)

      Do you know if you can pick up shifts in other locations or parks as a greeter in attractions? I would love to visit other lands but I totally get that I won’t probably work loading and such cause I wouldn’t be trained for that. But scanning lightning lanes and greeting for the ride seems like it wouldn’t require specific training?

    • @DareToElsewhere
      @DareToElsewhere  Год назад +1

      Unfortunately no, you can’t work any other attractions even as the front greet position because of rotation, which if you watch my “Day in the Life” video I explain it a little better, but basically you’re only in that Greet position for maybe 45 minutes max before someone takes over and sends you to something like Load, so there’s no way to just work one position all day. But when I was there stroller parking was still untrained so you could pick up in other lands that way:) Fingers crossed for you and hope you have a great time in Tomorrowland!!

      Thank you so much for the quick clarification! I've been making my way through your vids and haven't watched that one yet so I appreciate you taking the time to explain to me! I'll have to keep my eyes open for stroller shifts in other lands. Thanks so much, your vids are making me so excited for my program!
