Would like to say, the simple act of just putting the wrapped food in the cooker to show available space told me more about how much this handles than all the other reviews I've seen. Good thinking!
Happened upon your channel about 5 months ago. I had just purchased a Pit Boss Brunswick on super clearance at Wal-Mart for $125! Finally I was at the right place at the right time! They had it clearanced at 50% ($249), plus a manager special of an additional 50%. I could not believe my luck. Well anyways, absolutely love your quirkiness and informative videos. It's very refreshing to find a woman whom loves to bbq, and is easy on the eyes 👀 😊. Keep up the great videos and never lose that unique quirkiness about you.
Just finished with my first smoker on this beast, I love it everything ran smoothly and my ribs came out amazing. I know there's alot of bad reviews on this but if you are capable if doing the basic maintenance this thing will keep you happy.
Nice video, just curious about the shelves, aren't they all upside down? I always thought the middle support on the shelves was supposed to be on the bottom so you had a flat working surface
Thank you for being the first real review of the Brunswick. Cant wait to get mine except they are the PS5 of smokers, never in stock. Do you notice a more "smokey" flavor in the foods smoked in a vertical smoker compared to your horizontal smoker/grills? Thank you and Happy New year.
I just ordered one, I hope there are no issues with it due to shipping, that seems to be the major problem with them I'm seeing. Great info, your review is the one that sold me on this smoker.
Mine was all dented up in the back.and the site window was shattered. I took it apart and fixed it but it took half a day. I live in rural VA so I thought this would be easier that trying to return it.
Is it dual wall insulated? I am comparing this with the Camp Chef XXL WIFI and I am concerned about pellet usage and maintaining temps on these cold winter days.
Question : I have been cooking on a pellet grill for years and the results are great. Never have I used a water pan. While does it seem all of a sudden everything needs to have water pans ? When I wrap my ribs or Boston butt seems that is what ensures the juiciness. Seems with a water pan that you end up “steaming” the meat.
Love the Brunswick smoker they’ve only problem is as far as I know and Walmart is the only distributor of this model and I have been trying for at least three months you get one Walmart will not let you pre-order it which this is bad news
I’ve seen reviews of pellet smokers vs wood burners where it is said that the pellet smokers don’t promote a good smoke ring and impart less smoke flavor. I have a Pro Series Pit Boss with a water pan and have absolutely no problem putting it up agains other types of smokers. My understanding is that the slightly higher humidity that the water pan causes helps the smoke stick to and permeate the meat. So I think the flavor benefit would be mostly for pellet smokers. (And mostly in the 200 - 250 degree range… otherwise the water is boiling off too fast.)
Thanks so much for the video! I’ve got a small masterbuilt 30” smoker that I’ve had since 2015, and I’m thinking about replacing it. I’m having trouble with rust on my current smoker. The racks, drip pan etc. How easy is the pit boss to keep clean and looking like new? Are the grates coated?
Yes they are but they are awful to clean if you use bbq sauce. They racks are double construction for rigidity but the sauce gets trapped within the rods. I soak mine in a tray for a few hours but you still have to brush out the residue.
@@matthewnelson7221 I only used my Brunswick three times and it conked out! Was getting error codes. Tech has sent out a ignighter but now I have to install it. They were supposed to send instructions but didnt.
@@ChefKevinRiese geez, that’s discouraging… I’m nervous about swapping brands, maybe I should look at an MES 40 then. My MES 30 has been great for years but it’s just small.
@@matthewnelson7221 I just spent three hours changing the igniter! I think it was not installed correctly because only about 3/4" inch was in the burn pot. Now its like 2 inch. Maybe that is why there was not much smoke. I think they have a quality control problem because I noticed missing screws and screws not theaded right! Anyway. I just started it up. Wish me well!
I plan on about 20 minutes from start to 250 which is what I'm usually running this smoker at. In the winter it does take longer, I am in Utah and it gets pretty cold so it's expected!
Do you know a trick to get the Auger working. I just a brand new one out of the box and the Auger and fan on the back of the motor isn’t working. PB is sending me a new motor but sounds like it’s going to take a while since these are rare as is. Everything else appears to be working fine
looks like PitBoss has made a bit of progress with their vertical smoker line with the Brunswick. Aside from the 2 small issues with this (fan and ash cleanout) looks to have been pretty much hassle free? as for the ash cleanout a heavier gauge steel would not warp as easily binding the door as you showed. keep posting about this model... I am getting close to grabbing one before my pro series ages out
You're right I thing a more durable metal would have solved the ash cleanout issue. I do think this smoker is much improved from the Copperhead's which I had previously. I think it's a very durable, well designed smoker. I've got some longer cooks planned on it so I will post those and see how it does! Thanks for watching!
Question again......I heard that the New Brunswicks use Magnets on the doors instead of the rods like you have. Your thoughts and what have you heard ?
Hey Mazie! I've been following you on Instagram since June! Just seen your RUclips channel and you got a sub from me. It's nice to see other ladies out there! Keep it up and happy grillin'!
I bought this smoker after watching your video and was just curious have you had the issue where the racks no longer fit in the smoker as it seems like the walls have expanded?
Hey BBQ lady , on the Brunswick, does the digital temperature work in 10 degree increments ? On some models it jumps from 250 to 300 without giving the option of 275 ? Would like to hear more about the “she said he said.”
Hello Mazie, was curious to see if you were noticing any temperature fluctuations in your Brunswick? On ~40 degree days, if I leave a probe on the top rack and one of the bottom, I see up to a 50 degree difference. I also see a pretty big difference between the left and right side of the same rack (like up to 30 degrees). I'm new to smoking so I am just trying to figure out if this is a common issue or not.
I haven't noticed that issue with mine. The lower rack is of course going to be hotter because it's closer to the fire box. If I am baking something I put the food on the second rack from the top, I feel like that rack gets the most even temperature. If you think yours might have an issue, Pit Boss is responsive on their Facebook Messenger.
How difficult is it to refill the water pan with the drip shield right there? Also, about how long can you cook at 250 before needing to refill the pan?
That was a non answer! I used my Pit Boss yesterday. The tray was full at the start. I smoked for 2 hrs @ 250 and checked the level at 2 hrs. The tray was almost still full. I turned up the heat to 375 for a hour and a half. I then had a grease fire because the grease tray was not cleaned out. After I took the chicken out I noticed the tray was dry! So I would say at high temps you really go thru water! The chicken was still good.
Great video! I know it has a 98 pound hopper, and that's meant to be a good thing, but is it? What's the fuel consumption compared to your other pellet smokers?
Honestly I think the space was there for the hopper so they just used it haha. I don't see it as being an issue though. I certainly won't have to worry about running out of pellets for long cooks. As far as consumption goes I haven't noticed a difference.
Do have a problem with the paint burning off on the bottom around the burn pot of your Brunswick? Mine from the first time I fired it up started burning off the paint
I was wondering does your Brunswick put out any smoke? I just got mine and I have done two cooks on mine. Mine wasn’t really smoking at 225 degrees. And I couldn’t really taste the smoke flavor. I did ribs witch cooked a little over 4 hours.
Great question! I haven't done a cook below 200 and I generally don't unless I'm doing jerky which I plan to do so I will let you know! I don't have the pro series so I'm not sure if it's the same controller. If you message Pit Boss on Facebook they should be able to answer that though.
