    This is legitimately one of my favorite shows in the whole mtg scene recently. Hadn’t heard of canlander until this show and there’s something so cool about how proficient serge and wheeler are and how vocal they are about their thought processes.

      Part of the reason I like using proxies on the show is to help normalize them. Print out whatever you want and go wild

    Legitimately my favorite magic content there is. I think CanLander is such an interesting and incredible format, I simply wish I had friends to play it with and a deck for it.

    I have started to call the monarch esc mechanics "the shiny" as it is really good at describing how they play. It also would limit name blunders like G2

    I loved Wheeler's comment in a previous episode about activating things (vial) when there is not reason to, just to see if you can make your opponent play wrong.

    Really enjoying the show, I would watch this weekly if that's a relevant thought.
    I've recently tried my hand at making a red/black aggro canlander deck and focusing on high power/hasty creatures and removal spells. I would love to see one of you trying that :)

    I love watching can lander especially when it's decks I've really never heard of. I am hoping to see more great stuff going forward. For deck suggestions once theirs a list for it priest storm I think could be an interesting matchup.

    Broadly speaking I'm a proponent of the risky keep. If you have the nut draw off a single land rip, sometimes even two, it can be correct to go for it especially in singleton formats or when you think you're the dog in a matchup. In these games I wanna say Serge was pretty off the mark, keeping around 4 drops and not respecting that Wheeler had hand attack, but the initial thought process that leads to keeping hands like that isn't necessarily wrong.

    You don't have to mulligan, you GET to mulligan. The current mulligan rule is extremely powerful and definitely should be utilized more.

    In G1, Serge could have un-equipped lion sash after attacking to have a chump blocker since its untapped. Ultimately didn't matter, but it would have mitigated a 3-drop off of vial at endstep.

    I have a deck very similar to seeker walk but instead it’s omnath colors because you get omnath wren and Minsc. That makes your non infinite time walk turns much much better.

      IMO the Hot bant midrangy version of seeker walk is better, you also get access to ragavan and fable which halp you ramp towards your combo and provide card selection

      The esper initiative deck is only playing a few of the really good blink effects. Its better to think of it as an 'ETB' deck than a blink deck

    I know this is very out there but I think Wheeler had a weird line around ~39:00 that wins if he had played Mystic Sanctuary in his deck. Sanctuary + Qurion Ranger + Yavimaya = infinite walks.

    Very small flames. Yes if you wanted to play around aether vial game one you can unequip the lion sash to keep up a blocker. But again didn’t seem to matter.

    I would love to have a discussion of pros/cons for cutting white from Wheeler's deck. It's basically only there for 3feri and some removal, but I think the available removal in the other colors is good enough to not need to be in 4c for this deck.

      It also gives you ephemerate which seems pretty important to his combo.

      Yeah Ephemarate is crucial to this deck, and if you have that and need the mana for it you may as well have 3feri and good removal.

    So, the first piece of North 100 content (and really, LRRMTG content) I ever watched was the North 100 Commander Legends set review where Wheeler and Jer went to great lengths to talk about how messed up Opposition Agent and the Monarchy are in Canadian Highlander.
    I now understand.

    I've been wanting to see the Esper Initiative deck in action for a while now. I tried to build basically this deck before Initiative creatures got printed and oh boy was it bad
    I love me some Canlander, and I appreciate all the wonderful histories behind deck names, but it's always bothered me that SeekerWalk isn't called TimeSeeker. It feels like a (slightly) better descriptor and rolls off the tongue a lot better. But that could just be me.

    sometimes you guys say "dm i do that", and i believe it's when discussing a hypothetical line of actions that you decide you will in fact do - what does the dm mean? is it from ttrpg and referring to a dungeon master?? I can't find reference to it anywhere online.

      It is referring to a dungeon master. Sometimes you ask the dm something like "is it possible for me to reach the treasure if I jump over the ravine" and they respond "yes" so you'd say "dm I do that" just to shorthand it. Idk if threw really any reference online that's easy to find
