  • This is a full tutorial on how to make a WAVE ROPE BOWL with a SWIRL pattern. What a great way to add something different to a rope bowl. Come along as I show you step by step how I make it. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for sharing. Love the wave pattern.
    Cut on the bias, it won't fray. No need to iron 1/4 inch. Bias binding will also twist around the rope easier.

    This is such a pretty bowl. It looks so complicated but you make it look so easy!!!! Since you introduced me to his rope in your other videos it's the only rope I now use - love it. Your bowls are my favorites.

    I Love how you use a fold on your fabtic so there are no raw edges. I love this wave pattern.. I'm a newbie at this but want to try this wave pattern. Thank you for sharing your method.

      I am amazed at how easy it is to sew rope. It is so fun because it sews like butter. If you take your time, it really is not hard. It does take a while to do the whole bowl but it’s very rewarding. I hope you give it a try. Thanks for watching!

    What settings do you use on your machine to keep from bird nesting on the bottom?

      When I have this problem I check my bobbin. If that doesn’t fix it, then it is usually my needle. Hope that helps. The setting I’m using is a wide zigzag stitch. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment.

    Very cute!! I have made a few rope bowls. I would think cutting fabric on the bias would make it easier to wrap and it wouldn't fray as easily. Definitely going to give this one a try.

      It still frays on some fabric cutting it in the bias

    Is your needle between the rope & zigzag picking up rope🤔. Also, I have this machine. What length & width are you using. Beautiful work

      I love this machine. I have bought the expensive machines and only had problems with them. This machine is hungry for more. The needle is hitting both ropes. I have it on the widest setting on width and length. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching.

    How do you know how long to make the starting piece? does it make a difference? starting piece 2-4inches?

    Is there a reason why you don't cut your strips on the bias? I find it makes it easier to wrap the rope.

    Beautiful! You mention how wide the strips are, but not how long. How long are the fabric strips?

      Thank you! I am so glad it helped! I am using a Singer Heavy Duty Machine 4423. I love this machine! It is only $220.00 I believe on Amazon. That is where I bought mine. I have bought a $800.00 dollar machine and only got frustration with it. This machine (Singer) is hungry for more! No joke! I just replaced a zipper out of a pair of heavy blue jeans and it had NO PROBLEM going through it! I love this machine. So, if it quits one day, I am not out that much replacing it. I want to do a video coming up on how to keep it maintained because that is a big part of keeping it in good shape. Thank you so much for your nice comment!

    You say 1 1/2 inch wide strip but written info in video says 1 1/4 inch wide strip. Please clarify. I'm a beginner and would like to try this.

      It’s also very helpful when cutting your own strips to cut them on the bias. Much easier to wrap the rope and much less bunching and fraying.

    I find it a little awkward to be working so close to the needle with the scissors and wrapping, so I wrap quite a bit longer with one strip. Particularly when I know it’s going to take at least one entire strip. I secure the loose ends with a magic clip or close pin to hold it.
