whats your biggest diamond tip?!?
Edit: If you're looking for an iron guide I've got one just like this video but on that!! 🤝🤝 ruclips.net/video/8AK_WTT7Njc/видео.html
Just get yourself a diamond armour and tools from villagers and then get down for mining
Mine them
@@thebigsucc6292 Thank you for your tip. I am playing Minecraft for four years and never figured out how to get diamonds, thank you so much!!
Make enchant table and enchant diamonds
I dont mine diamonds i get diamond tools from villagers its easier
Underwater Caves = INSANE amount of Diamonds. If you find a submerged cave, get yourself a door or water breathing potions and enjoy your spoils. Since water doesn't count as an air block, it allows the diamonds to generate more frequently. It's seriously the best technique I've experienced. Not to mention really fun! Great video!
I second this!
Problem: I play on bedrock
Unfortunately bedrock edition doesn't let you do that anymore :( water-breathing potions are the best bet.
I like using magma blocks instead for my underwater caving, you put it down and crouch on it to refill air then mine it to continue 👍

If you go the night vision route, make sure you place torches so you can find your way out. First time I did this I used 3 X 8 minute potions in a row and even did the worst thing possible by not letting the timer run out on the full 8 minutes. At the end of almost 24 minutes I was surprised by a massive black screen!!!! I was in the middle of a huge cave, I could hear mobs everywhere and couldn't see a single tourch...... I then realised my mistake, I still had most of the original stack of torches that I started with. I was totally lost and after half an hour searching for where I came from I was even more lost so I had to dig my way to the surface. Thankfully I wasn't under a huge mountain 😅 I always remember that crumb trail to get home after that one...... I did get a LOT of diamonds so not all bad 😊
OH NO 😭😭

***Important Note about branch mining at Y-59. I have found that when I branch mine at this level I frequently run into lava lakes. I play on bedrock, so there might be slight differences… But the Y coordinate on screen for me when I branch mine is -54 and it works really well. Still plenty deep in the world for high percentage diamond generation.
Not only do you run into lava lakes, but you don't run into huge diamond veins. Since you are mining directly above bedrock, the diamonds wont generate below that level, which would prevent larger veins from spawning. I play bedrock too, and y-54 is probably the best level to mine at since you can have huge veins underneath you
agreed. Y12 wasn't where the most diamonds generated, it was where you could mathematically find the most AND avoid lava pools. Y-54 feels like the new Y12
I usually mine at Y=11 which on the surface of the lava lake on previous edition. But, is there still big lava lake now? On which level is it?
@@kowhaifan1249 on console they mean
Yep, -54 is a good spot for Java as well. I don't know why people recommend below that: lava automatically starts generating at -54 Y. So at least at that level it'll be at your feet. You're going to find a lot more diamond actually mining, versus trying to counter lava flowing into your strip mine, or having to abandon a branch to move elsewhere.
You should branch mine on -58 so you don't see bedrock on the floor. Less bedrock seen means more potential diamond blocks seen.
yeah some people just can't think that well. and thats ok

Seriously? Ive been digging on bedrocks for days and just found 12 diamonds
@@Canufindnow if you spent days mining for 12 diamonds then maybe cave exploring is faster fir you. If you’re mining without an efficiency 4 plus diamond pickaxe then wow, huge time consumption there
I like that the tip about removing gravel is directly followed by using that gravel to check under lava so one method helps the other.
This was a perfectly timed video; I’ve been struggling to find diamonds in my world. I’ve gotten really lucky with a huge cave under my base, but the grind is real down at -59
I'm new to minecraft and was heading out to Y-58 planning to start branch mining for diamonds. When I got pretty deep and thought I was close to setting up a strip mine I ended up stumbling upon a HUGE deep cave system! I spent hours lighting it up and exploring it and found 25 diamonds and had a ton of fun doing it. Like, lot's of fun. I kept getting blown away at how cool the cavern was and all the cool underwater lakes and stuff. Unfortunately I did have a really scary and tragic moment. I found this small little entrance to what turned into a labyrinth of endless cave in all directions and layers. I got lost and started feeling claustrophobic and even panicky. It didn't help that it was past my bed time so I was really tired and not thinking straight. I started realizing I was never going to find the exit; just simply impossible with how small it was and how many loops and turns I went through for a couple hours. And I was dreading the idea of digging my way out since I was so deep down (in hindsight it's what I should have done) But I did find a water block and thought maybe it lead to a pool of water that connected to the larger cavern I was in. I kept trying to dig around the water and not in it but I kept getting water pouring on me. I spent so long but I was determined. Basically I ended up accidently placing a block below me which sealed me in this small small space and then mined a block out that let water fill the space. I panicked and tried to mine out but ended up drowning. lol I lost a lot of loot including diamond armor a sharpness+looting diamond sword and a fortune 3/unbreaking diamond pickaxe and 15 diamonds I had found. The death was so frightening though from feeling claustrophobic to the panic and the realization of my demise once I noticed I was in water with no way out. I knew my fate and when I died just instantly turned the game off cause my anxiety levels sky rocketed and I never had such good gear and losing it was heartbreaking. It was my first good gear ever.
Thanks for reading all that. After that happened I really wanted to tell someone about it but felt like no one would really care. The next day I was able to gear up again and I revisited that large cavern and spent more hours in it. I just kept discovering more and more of it and did find a lot more diamonds too. I even got all my gear replaced except for a fortune 3 pickaxe. I've been trying for a really long time but it just won't appear for me on the enchant table. Luckily I do have silktouch so I've been saving the diamond ore I do find.
Though I'm new to minecraft I watch lot's of youtube videos so I have a generally good idea what I'm doing. I did begin on a branch mine for diamonds but I hate that method and I don't find it worth it. So much time mining and feel like if I do run into diamonds it won't be enough to make it worth it. I hope I can somehow find another large cavern because that method is just so fun and rewarding.
Bro wrote an essay on Minecraft

Update: I STILL was never able to get a fortune enchantment to show for me despite trying so many times. However, I used a villager and reset it until I finally got a fortune 3 book! I was so excited. Finally got my Fortune 3 pickaxe back and used it on all my diamond ore. I'm now sitting on 45 diamonds plus full diamond gear/tools.
I even went to strip mining but only found 2 diamonds from it. Still hate strip mining.
I started getting into potion making and have made tons of potions to stock up on. I put some in my nether chest like fire resistance and regen. And put some in my mining chest like nighteye and speed up. Used a water breathing and found 2 diamonds in an underwater cave.
I made a mob farm but it's really slow for some reason. Like 1 mob every 30 seconds type slow.

A little tip on the deep dark mining. Finding an ancient city can provide you with an excellent hoe that only lacks mending and silk touch. Also ancient cities clear entire areas of chunks and are very deep down (only a few blocks above bedrock) so your chances of finding diamonds will be very high.
0000
Warden
I found one with mending and silk touch, two actually, but they had curse of vanishing. It was on bedrock though, if you are talking about java
got one with all maxed out ench including mending and fortune but with curse of vanishing
u can get mending with it on java
fun fact: diamond ore block and dirt have the same shape, but different texture.
For the moss mining tip bring a composter , 2 hoppers ,and 2 chests so you can get more bonemeal while you mine the moss blocks so you won’t have to keep going back and forth to the surface to get more bonemeal lol
Oooo nice i likey
Add some shears and the grass will give you even more bonemeal
I end up with so much bone meal I'm throwing it away. Great way to bulldoze a lot of ground.
@@njineermike Build an auto tree farm to put the extra bone meal to good use instead of throwing it away
@@johnkenrickchua1811 I'll have to look into tree farms. Anybody know how to make a village food farm? Thats where I really want to use it. Repopulating villages is a pain.
for branch mining, instead of 3 by 3, you can cut single block wide hallways separated by 2 blocks of material. Like one hall at x=0 then one at x=3, x=6, etc
This way you can see every block face with minimal picking
i dont understand
@@rifarira9160 I believe it’s like this:
Mine BLOCK BLOCK Mine
if that makes sense lol. You do a strip mine in one row, then move over two blocks, and dig another strip at that third block. Mine 1, 2, 3 is where you mine. You don’t need to mine the extra blocks in a 3x3 strip because a 1x2 column big enough to just fit your character spaced out every three blocks, allows you to see the blocks you would be mining, without needing to mine. It’s faster and less taxing on your pickaxe.
@@kyahearly8224 I still don't understand so it's strip mine and move two blocks to the right then strip mine again??
@@ZeleX7799 YES! The only difference between this and the 3x3 route, I believe, is that you are viewing the blocks as you tunnel instead of mining them. You’ll see all the same blocks you would if you mined in a 3x3, if you mine in a straight player-sized line every three blocks. Doing this route will save your pickaxes durability as well as go faster in terms of distance and diamond finding, as you are not wasting time mining the area you are seeing and instead merely scouting through it.
So once again, you mine in a 1x2 area aka the size of the player, for as long as you see fit, and then return to the beginning of the strip mine and move over 3 blocks; you start another strip on that third block and following this pattern for a very effective mine!
@@kyahearly8224 What coordinate would you recommend? Simple -58 or any others higher? I have seen mixed reviews in the comments
When I strip mine, I like to keep a double chest near my ladder/scaffolding. When i fill up on gravel, cobbled deepslate, tuff, etc. I can unload quickly. When i need material later i have stacks readily available. This allows me to focus on clearing strips quickly. Fortune 3, Efficiency 5, and mending are the holy trinity. Unbreaking helps too. Piles of Lapis, Redstone, and Diamond in no time.
I once found an underwater cave with my friend, and we split up to find some diamonds. When we met again, we had 40 diamonds together. From one cave, with no fortune pickaxes. Underwater caves are insanely good for having diamonds.
I will disagree with silk touch pickaxe in deepslate level. Mostly because you will mine a ton of stacks of useless block. Normal Deepslate is not craftable. It is better to use Fortune III pickaxe with Shulker Boxes and Ender Chest.
You could use normal deepslate and cobbled deepslate in a build, because other than building normal deepslate isn’t really useful.
Silk touch isnt for the useless blocks, although you do mine a lot of them they most likely wont get picked up (or will be dropped for more inv space) allowing to more efficiently store the resources that you want to have in your inv like redstone, copper, coa,l lapis, emeralds, diamonds, ect. Yes enderchests would be good but if youre looking for diamonds you probably haven't been to the end yet and using fortune without an enderchest would fill up your inv extremely quick when you could just fortune them later when conserving inv space isn't a factor (like at your base where there's storage)
@@Shedmaster-ng1ik You don’t need to go to the end in order to get an ender chest, you can fight Enderman in the warped forest in the Nether and then get blaze rods from a Bllaze in the Nether Fortress.
Silk Touch and Fortune are exclusive to whichever pickaxe is enchanted with each, so you need 2 pickaxes either way. I have one with all the usual enchants (unbreakable, efficiency, fortune, mending) and then another with silk touch and mending, for specific blocks. Fortune is the better enchant in most situations.
@@Shedmaster-ng1ik Silk touch is useless, fortune 3 is definitely better .
It will not only increase the drops of diamonds but also of iron, coal and other resources.
Thank you! I will try this out later today :) Needed this video after 5 hours of mining over 2 dubble chests worth of deep slate with a iron pickaxe just for 6 diamonds hahah
Another tip for finding diamonds in lava. This is more for bedrock than java. You can use glass blocks and see through it providing you can actually place the glass on the bottom of the lava pond/lake.
This is shown really well by docm77 when he was running the world eater a few months ago. Ripping a vast chunk of terrain apart a couple layers at a time does a great job showing how accurate the distribution chart is.

-58 I will argue is not the best for branch Mining. You said it yourself, you don't want bedrock. So if you have bedrock at your feet then it is 1 less potential spawn for Diamond gone. also -57 means if there is a branch of diamond well it can branch up and down if you are at -57 due to bedrock the vein can be smaller. I'd say -56 and -55 are the best spots for diamond strip mining . That has no bedrock and plenty of space for diamond to vein down and up.
the floor is -59, where the bedrock starts to spawn. Not every block is bedrock, so it increases chances of more diamonds.
-58 does not have bedrock at your feet, -59 has.
@@captain4318 He literally showed in the video that what you said is false. Bedrock is at -60, your feet if on it would be -59, your head where the F3 menu or option on bedrock edition reads from is -58. So -58 when reading the graph and standing up is bedrock at the feet.
@@deathab0ve No, he did not. Your mistake was assuming he was talking about -58, when in fact he was talking about -59 (timestamp: 05:10), he's literally standing on -59, which indeed has Bedrock. You need to stand on -58. It will not have bedrock. These are hard facts. Cant speak for bedrock, but this guy is playing Java and for Java you need to stand at -58 (not -59 like he showed in the video, you assumed wrongly he was talking about -58).

The deep dark method can be really good if your observant enough. You could mine without worrying about any mobs including the warden.
Theres an easy way to get bones, me and my friend made our house in the cave and there was a pond with fish there, there was a block of magma and it was repeatedly killing the fish and giving us bone and food. you can set up your own pool and place down a couple magma blocks and you have basically food and bone farm

I needed this video so much!
Ive done tons of strip mining in my relatively new world, and only found 4 diamonds.
I will use your tips and increase that number!
See if you’re below a mountain diamonds are sparse in mountain biomes
If you're lazy and don't want to branch mine or go to caves for diamonds, you can go to the villager trading route. When you have a good iron farm, there are three kinds of villagers' jobs that can give you either diamond armor, tools and weapons that are already enchanted. I just used this route because I had a good functioning iron farm and villager breeding farm.
This is so true. In 1.17 diamond generation got screwed up and I kept bashing my head after spending literal hours in caves with only gettin around 5-10 diamonds. I was watchin youtube and saw how frkn OP villagers are and I decided to try it out for myself.. yeah. They basically destroy the value of diamonds. Enchanted armor, weapons, tools.. it's great. Rly all I needed was 5 diamonds for a pickaxe and enchanting table and I didn't need to mine for them again. When 1.18 rolled out though I could easily get around a stack of diamonds in a little under 3 hours of caving/branching
@@Winstonato 1.18 is where I got screwed up when branch mining for diamonds. Atleast in 1.17, there was a bug wherein when you find a Lapis vein, there will be diamonds nearby. I can easily get a stack within an hour with that system. Ever since 1.18 caves and cliffs, that bug was gone so caving for diamonds got a bit harder. That's where I tried to find an easier solution to get diamond gear.
@@allengomez026 I actually did not know about that bug lol. Would have saved me so much time. Idk, personally I have this love/hate relationship for caving. Love because of the amount of resources I get and how enjoyable it is. Hate because I have the shortest attention span possible in a human being and I get distracted over the smallest things. I always get lost. I have random holes where I just dig up cause I will try and find my way out, get distracted. Then run out of food or torches and be screwed lol
@@Winstonato I get ya, that's why I didn't do automatic farms at first. But when I got my first automated iron farm, everything when down from there
@@allengomez026 I have done auto farms forever. Starting with sugarcane-bamboo.. now I make all kinds of farms. It's one of my fav things to do. Iron farm, gold farm (annoying to make but so rewarding with the piglin farm), I then use the gravel I get from the piglin farm for the concrete farm. I have basalt generator, a mud thing. Takes dirt and dispenses a water bottle on it turnin it into mud. Semi automated that. Made slime farm, gunpowder. Tryna work on a raid farm rn actually but they are extremely buggy and the tutorials aren't rly helping much lol. I have a zomber villager curer, trading hall, villager breeder. And last but not least is a blaze farm (never need coal again)
This was really helpful! Thanks!
I have not yet found the deep dark biome. It looks very interesting and I think that's my next diamond ore mining method. Thanks so much
When dive mining bring a magma block with you as long as you place the magma block on the ground you can sneak on top of the magma block and gain air back break magma block to take with you and continue combine with night vision and it’s even better

Is -59 really the best height? Because you will only be able to expose the maximum amount of diamonds on your sides and above you but not below you since there will be bedrock. I suggest maybe -58 or -57 is more efficient because at -58 you will see all veins that have generated above bedrock level and at -57 you’ll see all if those that are 2 blocks tall
Personally I almost never find diamonds at -59, it's far from the best according to my personal experience, i always find them at -58 or -55.
So what are the differences in diamond ore generation between bedrock and java?
For branch mining, I start at the lava lake level. Most lava lakes are at Y:-48 or something like that. That way I very rarely ever worry about mining a block and having lava pour down on my head.
That helped me sooo much thank you
I would appreciate a video based solely on branch mining.
Like what spacing is actually better for the branches, two blocks apart or five? Do you miss any with five block spacing?
I read on the Wiki that the optimal spacing was about six blocks apart, though this was from before Caves and Cliffs. After Caves and Cliffs, I'm not totally sure what the optimal spacing is, but I doubt it has changed by much, if at all. If you just do about six or seven blocks between tunnels, you should do pretty well. I hope this helps!
I have 3 spaces between mine: leaves a small gap where you might miss single nodes, but you'll get most nodes overall. 6 spaces theoretically is more efficient, but you're also going to miss more specific blobs of diamonds. If you don't like the idea of missing any nodes, I'd try 3 block gaps.
@@bernlin2000 Yeah, I like the way you put it: it's basically a choice between more efficiency by making the tunnels further apart, but at the cost of missing more diamonds, versus missing fewer diamonds by making the tunnels closer together, but at the cost of efficiency.
hey wattles, i think i have a better way of branch mining, instead of -59 we can go at -58 and look at --57 and mine, cause in -59 the floor is bedrock but if we are 1 block high then the we can see the blocks under us too so maybe this increases the chances of finding more diamonds?
Agreed, -58 is where it's at
Agreed. Also, keep your hallways closer, like two blocks apart. You’ll expose at least one side of every block on the level that way and won’t miss any single pieces.
@@Chell1919 keep the second tunnel 2 blocks apart, so from the first tunnel you can see the entire right/left layer and from the second tunnel you can see the second right/left layer, thats absolutely the most efficient way of branch mining in survival minecraft

Hey watl!
I like your each and every thumbnails so much🥺
the huge pickaxe wattles made needs to be appreciated! it looks great
Xisuma made some complicated calculations in an earlier video with the result that -58 is slightly better than -59, because when mining on -59 the lowest layer you expose is -60, where diamonds already get overwritten by bedrock.
Also: I need way more food and torches when cave mining than when branch mining, and it takes way longer, because I am fighting mobs all the time instead of actually mining.
That analysis is poor though, because you'll be fighting off lava pools at -59, they generate starting at -54 (the sweet spot imo). You're going to find a lot more diamonds when you're able to branch mine quickly, and not have to worry about lava flooding where you're at.
I have actually tried caving. It's a lot of fun. If you're branch mining and find one, go ahead and explore. One addition suggestion I will make however, bring extra torches. Like, STACKS of extra torches. If you're pretty advanced, a shulker partly filled with torch stacks is awesome for dedicated cavers.
Also, for the moss mining method, bring a COMPOSTER with you. Moss blocks can be converted into more bonemeal, assuring that you can go for longer without needing to resupply.
oh my god you have actually TRIED CAVING? In Minecraft!? Damn who would have thought
1:23 the "its too tough" flashing across the screen was pretty funny, nice!
Thanks I really needed this
Best branch mining method i believe is:
- Make a main hallway
- Dig smaller hallways spacing out about 15 blocks
- Dig 1×1 holes to the side of each smaller hallway
You may skip lots of blocks but you expose more as well. That's how i make a diamond beacon in less than a week.
Glass doesn't burn when placed in Lava, so if you don't want to use the F3 trick, you can always place glass in the lava and have yourself a look through it.
Dude when I found a lush cave biome I rushed immediately to get all the new blocks. Thank you for letting me know such a useful way of using the moss block and getting even more diamonds. I'll try it right away!
This video contains large amounts of super beautiful and righteous information, thank you!
Top Tip: Mine for building stone instead.
Diamonds and other ores simply turn up as byproduct. More than you'll ever need if you mine stone and deepslate at sensible levels. And it's as safe as houses. Even in hardcore.
i do like Deepslate for my building blocks in my mob and kelp power plants...
@@TheAuron32 Straight Deepslate works well for retaining walls too when terraforming rolling landscapes into flat plots for farms or buildings. Try two levels facing down with a third level placed sideways. Really nice effect.
@@sethoflagos2880 will do, thanks for the info
I have almost no use for deepslate lol. Smelted, it's a decent building material I've used for highways leading from my main base, but I'm too focused on building my Nether network to do vanity projects like Overworld highways..
@@bernlin2000 Do you mean you smelt cobbled deepslate back into standard? That's expensive! Better to alternate between silk touch and fortune pickaxes to maintain a good stock of both without wasting time and fuel.
For the moss one, you could probably use a stone hoe. You'd be insta mining moss with both diamond hoe enchanted and stone un enchanted
If you do go caving and end up with large caves bring some scaffolding, it's better than placing blocks and can be spammed at ground level as well as being easily reclaimed and reused to get to other blocks or locations that are harder to reach.
Content is good! Thank you.
Bedrock on the floor can be a problem, because uncovered blocks that could be diamond might be replaced with bedrock instead. It's better to mine 1 block above -59. 👍💎
Yeah I agree, going 1 level up is a smarter move because you have a better chance to see more, every bedrock you see is 1 less block that could have been diamonds
A better strategy (but takes more durability) is just to make your tunnels 3 blocks high
Please do make a branch mining for diamonds video!
Hey yoo its very helping dude thanks
I like to use night vision potion instead of torches. Also I started to use pickaxes with the Fortune enchantment! It works very wells
When branch mining, i use an iron pickaxe for the branching halls and save my good pick for when I find ore. When the iron pick breaks, i stop and double back to collect what I found along the way. You find iron all the time so its not that expensive to do.
I suggest enchanting a diamond pickaxe with Fortune III and one with Silk Touch I
a better version of the night vision method is to get the visible glowing ores texture pack, which light the ores up (i think it needs optifine) it means that u can do the potion method rlly early game without the potions
But to me it feels like using a mod

You got my like for the lava strategy, I had NEVER thought of that
I've been waiting for this since the update dropped!!!
Getting bone meal for the moss method really isn't that hard. I just setup an automatic composter and throw all of the stuff I get from mining up the moss in there and I have enough bone meal to keep going.
looking for diamonds under lava is a bad tip
I’d enjoy a more in depth video on branch mining. I find branch mining very relaxing and enjoy it. Why not enjoy it getting more diamonds!! Thank you!
@wattles, what was the song you had playing during the end screen? That's got a cool Groove and I like it!
I looked for this video in panic when I was setting up my mine, reached 0 and it kept going negative 😰
I died twice looking for diamonds and I still dont have any diamonds.
skill isue
I managed to set a full diamond beacon with these technics. It wasn't hard as I imagined. Thanks!
Thanks, very useful!
I think diamonds should be more common in the deep dark to give players a bigger incentive to go there.
I started a new world and guess what i didn't got down for mining diamonds and got full set of diamond armour with tools by villagers and i am even getting my redstone from villagers and i found 7 diamonds from looting shipwrecks and buried treasures it's a wonderful start to a new survival world
There is this action I am performing. It’s called “not even asking”.
@@Jeffbasil i am not telling u i just wanted to so i commented i don't give a shit if you asked or not

Hey man, you sound different from when you first started making videos. I've been watching your vids for a long time, but have been avoiding spoilers from 1.18 and 1.19 as I've had little time to play them, so I haven't for the past year or so. I love your content, and really like your energy! If you're feeling burnout or anything you should give yourself a bit of a break :)! We won't mind if you take some time to yourself
I 100% agree with the deep dark one, my first time exploring one i found like 5-8 diamonds just lying around as i explored
Congrats on being early and finding this comment 🥇
Bot or not?
Thank you
never knew that f5 method, nice!
You deserve a like just because of how nicely you explaimed everything in-detail
Such a good video. Thank you so much. I'm gonna play tonight now lol.
thank you i appreciate that!!
Great video, keep it up
Really helped me.
I just looked this up, so perfect timing lmao
wouldn't you want to start branch/strip mining on Y = -58 because there's going to be deepslate underneath you where diamonds can spawn?
I would definitely get an automatic bonemeal farm instead of a skeleton farm for this purpose, it’s also way easier to build to just to hoppers and one composter you put whatever farm waste you want in the top and get all the Bonemill you need at the bottom
Super interesting video wattles keep up the good work :)
thankya!!
@@wattlesplays ur welcome
thank you wattles
This will definitely be helpful, I love survival but its just kinda hard to get better materials.
You can trade with villagers to get full diamond for few emeralds. I highly recommend. You only need diamonds for jukeboxes and enchant tables, everything else is sold by villagers
Since I first bothered to make a haste II beacon to branchmine in the area you get the buff, then move the beacon rq, rinse and repeat, life has gotten a lot easier....
Combine that with the ol' trick of mining 5 blocks away and that deepslate doesn't look so thought anymore.
Also, that trick has gotten a bit easier with swift sneak too
thank you so much
Started digging on level Y-59 and just found diamonds at 8:20 on the video. Thanks!
