Very few news programs were recorded in those days, and well in to the 80s. Most went out as live. Given this program was of historical significance, this would have been a rare example of an exception to the rule.

Both Robert Kee and Leonard Parkin presented First Report and News At One. See the video "ITN First Report Intro 1974" in which Parkin is the presenter. Joining the EU made absolute economic sense. However, integrating things beyond that in the early '90s, was a step too far for all countries concerned.
Peter Shore probably should of been the lefts candidate instead of Michael Foot to replace Callaghan as labour leader in 1980 Foot originally backed Shore but was persuaded to stand, it probably came 20 years too late for Foot
Its how well spoken and academic they are back then, news and debates are so dumbed down now in comparison. It's amazing how the arguments are still exactly the same.
Compare what Heath said about the treaty prior to and immediately post accession …and what he later said about the intentions of the treaty vis a vis ever closer unity and sovereignty encapsulated in the treaty by say 1989 and later……and you learn a lot about how Ted Heath played politics. The archive is not kind to him either on his transparency on these issues. Duplicitous.
@@Crazy1Clive There's been loads of child sex abuse allegations made about Heath and also allegations of police cover ups. Too many allegations to dismiss out of hand. Wonderful to see such rare footage of ITN bulletins from the early to mid 1970s in full that aren't News at Ten. Thank you.
Magnificent video, and a damning indictment of Britains long running discursive decline.
Absolutely. In fact our decline on so many levels clearly illustrated here.

Perhaps the most remarkable item raised here is that a British factory - the Chrysler engine plant in Coventry - actually employed 4,000 workers.

The few that are asked any searching questions do reply, with lies dressed up as facts.
