Yeah. Honestly it kind of seems like the pain reversal practically makes people immortal considering how the damage caused by the weird body contraptions. Even if you don't feel pain you can still die. I bet Rick killed a few of those guys by the end of the episode, especially if you consider how bodies react to sudden severe pain.

This episode just reminded me how much I hate Beth
She makes fun of her husband along with the demons yet pins it all on Rick, despite Rick not laughing at Jerry or even deriving any joy from using Jerry as the butt of a joke
nah, Jerry is a dead weight, he doesn't do sh1t for his family, and actually their kids need to do sh1t for him, so he won't feel so miserable like the miserable being he is.
He doesn't try to improve, just to feel a lil better about himself. He is pathetic, and yet, Beth loves him.
Not saying Beth is right, cuz she is messed up too, but without her, this dude would literally be a homeless with 2 kids that he can't raise, neither financially or philologically or whatever.

I just realized that the guards that forgot to replace the hooks was voiced by Tom Kenny, the guy who voices SpongeBob
It also sounded like his boss was voiced by Clancy Brown, the guy who voices Mr. Krabs.

The concept that the chapter deals with is pleasure for pain, they make fun of based on the ridiculous idea that they themselves base. It is different from the original material that they parody, in the lore of hellraiser pleasure and pain are the same concept, they are not separate entities. Even many cenobites are inhibited from pain and the senses, they get pleasure by illustrating pain to those who summon them, that is, they do not seek to feel pain but to provide it, they are not a masochist, rather they are sadists.

my favourite rick and morty episode, its a good example of the writers misunderstanding something and trying to make fun of it. they clearly never watched hell raiser, to the cenobites pain and pleasure are the same thing, the sensations aren't swapped. the demons are just extreme sadomasochists .
Yes I also feel like the R&M writers misunderstood Hellraiser. In my opinion Hellraiser is a story that describes what addiction really is. And being stuck and unable to escape the continuous cycle of seeking and satiating is what hell really is. The cenobites have built up a tolerance to sensation and the only way for them feel anything anymore is to perpetually surpass their previous set threshold, unto eternity.
