The first scene broke me. With unity. That one just really fucked me up. It's not even that I can personally relate with heartbreak, it's just, that emotional. You don't see rick like that. You don't see his true emotions show very often. And when you go from seeing none of that, to seeing him so beat up over his ex that he literally tries to kill himself, that's when the show breaks me the fuck down. I've never experienced that kind of connection to a character before. Rick is unreal.
Im experiencing it rn and will admit it's one of the realest scenes I've ever seen the first heartbreak I went through I was gonna end it but passed out before I could from being drunk when I woke up in puddle of my own vomit on the bathroom floor (apparently I slept walked in my blackout) I just laid in a ball and cried my eyes out for hours shows like this kick up those memories hard for me but currently my family and two of my friends are keeping me here I know no-one else gives a fuck about me and thats fine because as long as I have them I'll be fine
So he laid unconscious in that garage for 2 days and noone thought to check if he is okay? I get that hes naturally kind of a hermit but hes still a 70 year old severely depressed drunk
There’s just something about this show, it’s a comedic masterpiece but the sad underlying tones are just so depressing and it really just hits you right in the feels, he’s still only human
The line, “I can’t sacrifice the whole family’s safety because I’m afraid you’ll leave again.” has an entirely different and depressingly ironic meaning now.

Fun fact, the liquid that Rick drinks in the first scene here, the orange liquid, it syncs every Rick in every reality, he wasn't just trying to kill himself, he was trying to kill every version of himself.
How tho? Because if he did that to the cronenburg wouldn’t it kill all the cronenburgs from the old universe and we saw more when morty got sent back or was that said by the directors

I always got teared up in the scene where Morty finds the picture of him as a baby with Rick. "Who's that baby?" I don't know why that hits me, but it confirms that Rick always cared for him from the beginning even if he never admits it.
Also, our Morty didnt have Rick in the family when he was a baby. This is one of the main supporting points for the idea that morty isnt morty c-137, and Rick came to his reality on episode 1.
@@drflaggstaff9008 yes... But no As the principal in episode one confirms by saying that morty has barely been to school for a few months proving that Rick has been in morty's life for a while now
@@drflaggstaff9008 Yeah, the show is so depressing. It is honestly a work of art when you read into it, probably the smartest show I have ever personally watched. For those who may read this and wish to understand, here is a quick summary. Rick left his original timeline to seek revenge on the evil rick that bombed his wife and daughter, as a way of forcing Rick C-137 to pursue science. Essentially doing what those “evil Ricks” wanted him to do. Since all Ricks control the multiverse, they have killed the families of every Rick where he decides to turn away from science, as a way of forcing him to pursue science. The only families left are the ones where Rick abandoned the families and Diane is no longer in the picture, a dichotomy. So Rick C-137 imposes himself into another dimension so that he at least has some sort of family, even though they technically aren’t his family. These circumstances are the reason Rick has lost meaning in life; he has realized that nothing matters truly and he has lost the only happiness and purpose he would have ever had (his original family). So Rick and Morty in the 2nd dimension accidentally destroy that universe, so they sneak into another one and kill the R&M there. Leading them to Rick’s third dimension and the current Morty’s 2nd dimension. Rick has lost 2 daughters now. Morty has lost his entire family, and he hasn’t realized it yet: but Morty isn’t even with his true grandpa. This is why there is some sort of bond between the show’s Rick C-137 and Morty; because they have both lost absolutely everything in the pursuit of science, even though Morty isn’t a scientist. He still has some responsibility in using science to distract himself from his inner discontent, much like Rick does. When you look at season 1. Morty was extremely apprehensive when adventuring. But after losing his original family, his confidence and dependence on adventure has grown; because it distracts him and gives him some sort of purpose. When you understand this, rewatching the series will have so much more meaning and depth. And further from that. We may be watching the origin story of the true evil Morty, he just hasn’t realized that he isn’t with his actual grandpa. Hence why he is attached to him, because that’s the only person Morty thinks he has left in his life. It’s also why Morty is becoming more confident in series 5; because he too is losing or has already lost meaning in life, hence why the adventures have been slightly boring in season 5: it’s to reflect Rick and Morty’s nihilistic mindset. His only meaning is Rick. When he finds out that Rick C-137 isn’t his actual grandpa. Who knows how Morty will develop. He has his grandpas dreams and access to his technology: will he make himself smarter so he can take revenge on Rick C-137 for killing his original family? Or will he realize it was also his fault? We shall see. Another interesting point is that Rick C-137 refers to the evil Rick that bombed his family as “I”. “I killed my family”. I don’t understand this, maybe he just hates every version of himself, or maybe that was actually him? But he has never referred to another Rick as “I”.
@@zenmarais8425 Maybe he chooses to refer to that Rick as "I" because he believes he shares some fault in his family's death. If he hadn't turned down science they would still live (allegedly) so he thinks that it was partially his fault
Knowing that our Rick is lonely and never ever have a family is freaking sad, You cannot protect yourself from sadness without protecting yourself from happiness. That's why he goes on and on in adventures.
@@spaceified2414 I don't think he's a terrible farther at all for doing this. He's literally giving his daughter the opportunity to go out in the universe and make something of herself, similar to what Rick did. He swapped them because he didn't want to know the identities of the two, that way he can remain comfortably numb not knowing if his daughter stayed home or made something of herself.
Can we all just take a moment to acknowledge the soundtracks they use for these kinds of episodes. I feel like without them they wouldn’t be nearly as deep
For me, these are the 5 saddest Rick moments. But for other characters, I think the citadel Morty's suicide in the garbage chute, Birdperson's death, and Morty showing Summer his own grave rank up there.
When you think about it Rick is not a terrible father as he wanted his daughter to stay with him but at the same time didn’t want to rob her from exploring universe as she wanted to before she asking what he wants. And before u say but what about the bomb in her neck. Well I think that was some kind of devise to join her and the clone together so she’d have both memories.
The point of him being bad father is because he run away again from his problem. Beth told him to choose, not to make it work both ways. And also he also forgot who's who intentionally which make it even worse. But one point i agree with, he is depressed.
In the first scene the entity Rick killed was a cronenburg which is from the original dimension Rick messed up in S1E5. Rick actually was trying to cure that infection and recover the dimension he messed up because he was feeling regret but now he was given up and and killed that entity, the liquid was probably a cure attempt. He also drunk it without hesitation because he doesn't care it will kill him or not. In the case of dying in order to not feel any pain he knocked himself. And nobody came to Rick for a whole day. In the end the reason we are seeing Jerry was only for rising the mood after a very depressive scene.
I love the way that we find out that Rick cares about many people he just is mean to try not to get attached. He couldn’t control himself with unity got attached and ended in heartbreak. He tried not to get attached in the toilet episode by placing that thing down but failed and realised what he was doing. With Beth he had never made a disicion for her to avoid the pain when losing her that’s why he couldn’t know which was which
I think the impact of that first one can't be understated. Up til that point Rick was just this guy who was aloof, above everything, didn't have a single care because he knew all. Then you see him break and you're abruptly reminded that, despite his immense knowledge, he's still human and some things are simply universal.
It’s even more depressing when you realize Rick didn’t have a change of mind in the first scene, he blacked out. So if it weren’t for that, he would’ve been dead
Man. Unity really fucked him up. He got just shred of the love he had needed for most of his lifetime and losing that made him content to simply kill himself. That’s how bad everything had been to Rick for most of his life. A shred of love from a fling made him far more than ready to end it all. Prime Rick is alive because that rejuvenation serum made him pass out. He didn’t have to drink that in order for the laser to kill him. He drank it because he’d already downed a case and said fuck it because he fully intended to die. And that feeling. I know it. He woke up feeling bittersweet. You get a real strange mixture of emotions. When you wake up afterward, half of you is happy that you’re alive, and the other half is both angry and severely depressed because you have to go on living for the time being
Rick really loves Morty, i wish they would explain why hes so attached to him in more detail since its said that he used to visit here and there up until Morty was born then he dissapeared completly
I love how they used the NIN version of “hurt” it just hits different that if they used the Johnny cash version “And you can have it all, my empire of dirt, I will let you down, I will make you hurt” That lyric sums up Rick perfectly
Cash version is also nice but in this isntance the NIN version is more fitting. The NIN version is more about being in a current depressive state. The cash one is more about looking back at the end of life. Nin fits better.
Rick doesn’t want to love anyone because he’s on a mission of revenge. He’s already lost someone and it made him become what he is now . I don’t want to imagine what happens if he loses his new family. In these new seasons Rick even cares about a Jerry . I can see a very sad ending to this whole series already or a very heartbreaking ending.but I hope the end turns to be a heartwarming ending for everyone
Bro, I always get emotional in that scene where Morty finds the baby pic of him with Rick, and he's like, "Who's that baby?" I don’t even know why it hits so hard, but it just proves Rick's been low-key caring about him from day one-even if he’ll never say it out loud.
So the Beth that is facing left at the end of the swap is the real beth. He wasn't rotating the vials only the positions of the vials. Bro Rick records everything he'd be smart enough to know lol.
A theory that is most likely not true is what if the rick that killed ricks family is evil morty and he knew that the only way to break the central finenite curve was to make a rick that could make a way to break it
The first clip did it for me.... thats when I identified with Rick the most... went through a messy break up... cause a dude was cheating on me but he wanted me to stick around..... made me feel worthless...
Same the love of my life left me for her roommate and she told me that it's because our lives are too different even when I tried to change for her and I spent the first week blackout drunk and heavily suicidal literally walking into traffic without looking while at work because I didn't give a fuck if I died then I lost my job and honestly wondered for a month weather it was worth it to continue on I'm still wondering but I stay for my family
Need some more episodes like these. Season 6 lost the adventure and the heart to heart we need. This show is the best of its kind and season 6 got us a little disappointed because with these few moments it expresses some of the most important moments in the series. Moments that you can relate to and season 6 kinda lost that until episode 10 so we just need some of that back if the series is gonna keep thriving.
there almost certainly is, its just unlikely that the ricks that lost their wives are able to deal with the trauma of visiting those universes. Personally im of the belief that all of those universes are outside of the infinite finite curve, considering that the infinite finite curve is comprised of all the "dimensions where rick is the smartest person in the universe" it makes sense to me that in all of those universes his wife is dead because only in the event of his wifes death is he able to morally disconnect enough to do what he has to in order to develop his genius.

are the saddest moments,
for the first I shed a tear the
first time I saw this scene
Nice video, i normaly never like a video but on that one i have to, thank you for the feeling you opened in my brain (like+)
if go to where there's a bunch of ice cream and don't come back, you haven't really gone to get ice cream, you just went where ice cream is
technically, this beth's rick actually gone... and this rick just stranger from other world with the face of his father
Rick is actually a pretty good dude, tormented by his bad memories
I love that they have Nathaniel Filion in this episode!! Great actor! He will always be Rick Castle though....forever!
Guys I heard he is making an updated version when the rest of s4 is on netflix
U forgot about the end of the episode with that evil politician Morty in the goverment
not rlly sad just cool
agreed
2:12 was fucking hilarious imo
The ending of the old man and the seat season 4 should make this cut
The wedding squanchers was my favorite episode.
6:29 I like how they just look at each other like “holy shit! What hasn’t this guy done?”
« Holy shit i’m a terrible father... »
:(

Bro, I always get emotional in that scene where Morty finds the baby pic of him with Rick, and he's like, "Who's that baby?" I don’t even know why it hits so hard, but it just proves Rick's been low-key caring about him from day one-even if he’ll never say it out loud.
Im proud to be your 69th sub
thanks
So the Beth that is facing left at the end of the swap is the real beth. He wasn't rotating the vials only the positions of the vials. Bro Rick records everything he'd be smart enough to know lol.
Noo The scene where Morty sees Rick's memories when he searches for Rick Prime in the multiverse is missing, I always cry ❤
Imma keep it real with you chief, these are sad moments and all. However, they don't compare to the season 5 finale. Not by a long shot.
The very first one got me 😭😭😭
Yo bro if you ever wanna talk my insta is ik_werk_bij_hizmet
What was the song in the first clip of rick trying to kill himself with those red light bulbs
Only people who watch Rick and Morty will understand
Like if you agree
i agree
"In the end everything is gonna be alright morty if it's not, it's not the end yet" - Rick C137
That's what happens when you pursue super science
0:00-1:37-2:10 the music and rick gave me goosebumps everytime i seen it
At 6:43 what happened to that Rick? Did he escape from jail which I doubt because he got himself in there.
A theory that is most likely not true is what if the rick that killed ricks family is evil morty and he knew that the only way to break the central finenite curve was to make a rick that could make a way to break it
Who else is ready for season 5
Rick: holy sh*t im a terribal father
*epic Rick en morty rock*
The metal outro is perfect
thank you for using the mtal outro👌🏼👌🏼
:)
His face at 11:15 , shows how sad he is
One time I dressed as Rick for Halloween, everyone liked my costume but they kept asking me where's my Morty?
It was so depressing and lonely.
The first clip did it for me.... thats when I identified with Rick the most... went through a messy break up... cause a dude was cheating on me but he wanted me to stick around..... made me feel worthless...
Umm, so u need some commas and some full stops there my guy.
The 2nd one is the one that made me emotional tbh
Literally Beth Crying in front of the screen gives you an unnerving feeling
That last one tho! 🥺
5:05 (Leo DiCaprio pointing in once upon a time in Hollywood meme)
First one bro it got me 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I love Rick and Morty show❤❤❤
Saddest one to me was how jerry wanted to turn Rick in when he’s done everything for them
Goddamn it.had to pause at 3:55 to stop from crying lol ong
5:19 how can u be sad at that moment 😂
That first one has haunted me for years.
There's infinite universes but there is none where his wife is still alive. Just thinking about it fucks me up
there almost certainly is, its just unlikely that the ricks that lost their wives are able to deal with the trauma of visiting those universes.
That episode where Rick turns himself in and is put in prison would have been a good series finale.
I am in depression, i understand All minds in rick And Morty, And First scene destroy me
I dont want a live😟
Out of all the people on the internet I hear you. I'm sorry you're in that place. I've been there too. Please give yourself a chance. I try to give myself a chance every day. It's hard but I do it. We can survive this thing called life, it might seem impossible but it's not! I believe in you!
Going into this, i dont know whether to expect "Jerry sad" or "Heartwrenching sad"
