Its pretty Good 7/10 i think some of the music is good but some of the remastered music just didnt play as well as the old music, and the Graphics are just dissapointing to me. Why have plastic art stlye in a game that already has amazing graphics, i hope Nintendo fixes the graphics at some point.
As much as I love dynamic music, I don’t think it needs to be shoehorned in every track. Especially cause some are just pretty off as is. There are even times where dynamic music might get in the way like Toad’s factory where it always interrupts itself whenever you exit the factory. I end up missing my favorite part of the music. Tho some courses that changes scenery would benefit from it. Like Amsterdam where you go to the windmill country side, the flower fields and the water canals.
Most of the dynamic music you talk about is present on the nitro tracks, the retro ones don't really have that unless the originals already incorporated it (Music Park or Rainbow Road for example) and since all of the BCP is retro tracks I think it was expected for them to just remake the og themes. Just my opinion, by the way. :p
Yea pretty much what I was going to say lol, if the leaks are anything to go by, Koopa Cape should be the only other one with multiple dynamic music for its section (Normal, WaterFlow, and Underwater), unless any other Tour Nitro incoperates that for the remaining 4, maybe PPC but I forget if it has 2 different versions for water and land.
Rainbow road 3ds was pretty much the most dynamic track for me out of the bcp. The music once again matches every moment in the game. Like that small part where the bass and background melody is muted for a second and starts playing again right after you tricked off the second glider ramp on 150cc is just perfection.
I really do hope Koopa Cape gets added. There’s one part where you go through a tube (it was cut in half in Mario Kart 7) underwater and the music changes to a really calming underwater sounding version of that song
I think dynamic music is a gimmick that surprises us here and there. I don’t think it should be something that goes into every track. Great video nonetheless 👍
0:34 forgot Sky-High Sundae. Both were made for Tour and 8 Deluxe around the same time, it can be argued they are either new or Tour ports. Great video! I gotta check out your analysis of the 8 tracks
Sky-High Sundae was originally made for Mario Kart Tour. It was released in 8 Deluxe first, but that doesn't affect which was made first. Otherwise, Star Fox 2 would be just as new as Star Fox Zero.
@@harrybest2041 yeah that’s what I summarized. That means the same thing for Yoshi’s Island. Either they both were made for Tour or both not, I don’t see any evidence that means one is a different case. They were probably both made for Tour first.
If you've noticed, the last two tracks of the current DLC wave have dynamic music, so they'll like implement more tracks with dynamic tracks for future waves.
Honestly, having dynamic music for all of the Tour tracks would be super appreciated since all of their loops are relatively short. Plus, a lot of areas from said tracks would be perfect for dynamic music (New York Minute's Central Park and Sydney Sprint's Opera House are the two that immediately come to my head). They could've even added dynamic music to some of the retros with new routes, like Kalimari Desert's Lap 2 or Peach Garden's Lap 3.
Dynamic or not, at least we're getting nice music that matches with the base game ost. Tbh the new remixes of old tracks is what hypes me the most each time we're getting new content.
You're not wrong at all! I'm currently replaying Yooka-Laylee in the hopes I would appreciate it more this time (I don't unfortunately), and just yesterday, I noticed how there is no dynamic music in the hub world. In Banjo-Kazooie, made by the same developers, the arrangement of the instruments changes when you get near a level to fit that level's theme, giving the game so much more charm. Yooka-Laylee does not do that. It's such a shame, because if I remember well, Banjo-Kazooie was the first ever game to implement dynamic music.
I wish Amsterdam Drift had dynamic music. The normal variant for lap 1, an underwater variant featuring some more water-like instruments and noise cancellation on the vocals, and a variant for the Rijksmuseum area that has less instruments, primarily emphasizing the accordion, guitar, and piano, and female vocals to make it sound like the street musicians there.
@The Rambling Man: The dynamic music is find, but they are a few issue with it that I notice in Dolphing sholes depending on when the music track is and the dynamic change is, you notice it cut off to change to the other dynamic and that makes it sound bad, this does not happen all the time, this happen more often on 200cc because of how fast your going. This is probebly why they did not put it excessivly on the new DLC, because if they did, they would be more cut off with the music track in 150cc which would make it sound bad.
The DLC is also sorely missing new kart parts. The selection has remained stagnant for the past 5 years while they continue to waste their resources dumping them into tour. Not even crumbs!
I feel differently, in that I don’t find it all that important that music adapts to different areas of the track. The music is so fresh and beautiful for the most part. Some of the rerecordings aren’t as good as the originals in my opinion. For example, Berlin Byways sounds super discordant when the orchestra joins in, whereas it doesn’t in the original Tour track. Also, 3DS Rainbow Road grinds so much harder, which takes away from the cute, spine-tingling vibe of hope you get from the original track. That said, most of the rerecordings are amazing. Some bring back the vibes of their originals (Merry Mountain, for example, is almost identical), but some add all new beauty and dimension, such as Maple Treeway and Kalamari Desert. It must be very hard to rearrange retro soundtracks and make them sound fresh and new while appealing to gamers’ nostalgia, and yet for the most part they’ve succeeded with flying colours. TL;DR: I think saying that the music is “lacking” or “disappointing” because it doesn’t adapt to sections of the track is underselling what is a phenomenal musical undertaking.
Totally fair Personally I am disappointed because the base game had so many really cool uses of Dynamic music, and for me the dynamic aspect of the music in these games gets me really hyped. But yeah the music of the DLC Is of a high caliber as per usual with Mario Kart there is no doubt about that !
Honestly, we could have had the different course intros, starting and second lap Jingles, and also the goal and results themes from the original games they came from, that could have been good!
Not all tracks need dynamic music. Most of tracks never had dynamic music as well, it only became prevalent on Wii, 7, and 8. A lot of the base retros don’t have dynamic music unless the original did like Wario’s Gold Mine.
Everything you mentioned in this video depends on the tracks themselves individually. This issue has nothing to do with mario kart 8 deluxe at all. Music-changing tracks is a speciality that only a selection of tracks have, it's a privilege to some extent. If every track had that, we'd get bored. Or even worse, we wouldn't find it interesting at all. Bangkok Rush very much has dynamic music, you don't hear that sort of thing in Mario Kart like at all
How does dynamic music make anything boring? I'd prefer if all the music became distorted when you dive underwater like in base 8D. It makes sense and it's unique
It’s theorized that the tracks that are not labeled we’re supposed to be nitro tracks and then go to Mario Kart Tour, but due to Covid it was delayed and was released on tour first
If they were made for 8 Deluxe, why do they all have Tour's artstyle and look like they were built with that game's combo system in mind (especially Sky-High Sundae)?
@@RamblingManYT yeah i do see your point now. Personally i don't mind it, i can still enjoy alot of these. But maybe there weren't any dynamic tracks because they were remixing old mk ost's. Which weren't really dynamic in general.
It’s just too little too late.. I enjoyed myself when the first wave dropped. But now I haven’t played since. If I’m honest I just completely forgot.. Aside from TOTK my switch has been gathering dust. And even then TOTK only brought me back for a couple of weeks. The game is so old, the online feels extremely outdated and the fact they choose to drip feed courses over the span of a year rather than give us a new game really speaks volumes on Nintendo’s attitude as of late. Forgettable and uninspired..
I thought JPGiviner considering shortcuts SO much in rating tracks was laughable but ratin them re:their music and lack of occasional flourishes to the soundtrack is next level stupid--am i the only one who doesnt care/puts on his own music instead?
i cant be the only one who barely notices anything beyond the base melody for each track and doesnt care anyway...its a racing game, if u dont like the music put your own on!
Yeah the music sucks in mk8. Its like they lowered the volume and you barely notice it. And to top it off there are no settings in the game to increase volume.. so thats fun. It doesnt come close to mkwii
First video I've seen of yours, incredibly well done, expected to look down and see millions of subscribers, that's certainly what it deserves! A theory on why there are less dynamic tracks here is possibly to remain in keeping with the original tracks on their respective platforms. 3DS rainbow road had dynamic music so it makes sense to have it here too, but all of the other tracks possibly didn't. I also haven't seen any of your other dynamic videos (yet) so I'm wondering if there are any retro tracks that used this music style before the DLC, and if so were they dynamic on their original platform. Something I'm gonna have to look into
Thanks pal! Yeah people have pointed out that they have kept the retro music consistent to their original games, hence the lack of dynamic music in those courses. I still think it would have been been a great if they had added some dynamic elements to retro music but I get why they didn't. Can't believe I hadn't noticed this after like 9 videos of analysing the music in the game...
Personally the thing that i think is missing is originallity, i mean as someone who used to play this game since WII U ERA i have been waiting for a new game during almost now 10 years and is getting boring, and of course this exists but is just retro stuff or tour stuff, yes there's new stuff but there isn't too much you know, we need Mario kart 9 just it's getting bored ya know
I don't understand this argument though I don't know why they don't consider giving the retro tracks dynamic music. I think it would just make it more interesting and exciting.
Hopefully when Koopa Cape inevitably arrives, they will include all 3 versions of the music that were on Wii (Becouse they always skip the river part every time it returns) Edit: If they bring Dry Dry Ruins too we also win
I cant be the only one that thinks gameplay/track selection/graphics are 90% of what actually matters, cool music is nice but id prefer good theming make up most of the remainging 10%' - music is like 3% to me so when you call a 'lack of musical flourishes to a game with great music already' it seems beyond nickpicky and more 'i was REAL desp. for content to discuss-teritory'

What do you guys think about the DLC?
These are all tracks ported from Tour's files, even if it releases in 8 first. Yoshi's Island just came in, even with the jingle.
I’m really enjoying it so far, I just hope they end the booster course pass with Wii’s Rainbow Road

True, and even then they didn't give Piranha Plant Slide/Pipeway the dynamic treatment, even though there was an underwater variant in MK7.
In wii, mushroom gorge kinda had it where cave noises would play like dripping water when you entered the cave unlike in 8 where only the music plays.
Well Koopa Cape is probably gonna be in Wave 5 so that'll be another track with the Underwater Pipe section
Koopa Cape is coming and it has Dynamic music.
