    I know this comment won't fit much to the situation you and your family faced, but that was one of the best movies you ever made. I'm serious. You're getting better and better. Keep on going! Stay safe and away from spiders and scorpions.

    If I found spiders in my shelter I would be like "well I guess I will be riding the storm out in a closet" because me and spiders don't see eye to eyes. I just got back from where I'm hoping to build my house. Right in the middle of tornado HQ. I need to get a sign for my door that says "Aunt Meg's Place" and welcome storm chasers to visit when they are in the area. I'd totally do that. :-)

      @hamradiocq  3 года назад

      First off, I know exactly where Aunt Meg's place is. Been there lol. Looking for steak dinner, but it's no longer. Secondly, my wife wanted to ride it out in the closet, but I got out the shop vac and sucked them all up. I also sprayed the hell out of it a few days ago. They seem to kind of fall in there and be trapped. But Ima killem anyway. : )

      @@hamradiocq I'm going to get an above ground shelter anchored to the slab in the garage. Rated to withstand an EF-5. I can fumigate it easily to rid it of fires. I just cannot firebomb it as easily as you could your below ground shelter. Toss in a Molotov cocktail and slide the door closed :D

    Cool slice of life video. I liked the tornado shelter, whats the philosophy about pulling the car over it again? My last house was missed by the 2019 Dayton tornadoes by about....maybe...1000 yards. It was surreal. You'd drive down the streets and it looked like a bomb went off, even a few buildings on fire from gas leaks. Trees looked like pieces of broccoli with their tops chewed off. I was freaking out in the basement watching the projected tracks run right over my house at midnight. Consider a name-brand 2000 watt-ish inverter generator and a 5 gallon extension tank. It can give you the equivalent of about 1.5 electrical electrical outlets for 1-2 days. Even power a portable AC unit.

      @hamradiocq  3 года назад +1

      I forgot to mention, pulling in the car avoids hail damage and it covers the shelter in case debris falls on it.

    I stepped on one of those scorpions in my mom's kitchen barefooted, the tail got me on the top of my foot, worse pain I ever felt. Thankfully these storms didn't generate a tornado here in Stillwater. 73 de AI5DD

      Yes right, the pain is indescribable. It continues getting more burning as the seconds go by. I got hit outside on the foot same way. I started screaming F F :F F F!

    Have you done any tornado shelter drills with your family and/or tried your radios from inside the shelter? Nice video!

      We did earlier in the day, i had to vacuum the bugs out of it... My wife won't go in it. Afraid of spiders.

      @@hamradiocq that is a problem for me too. I think it would come down to which I was most afraid of ( the tornado or spiders!) And you mentioned either in this video or another that you sprayed the shelter and they still come in!!! But, even though, I want to install a shelter here. I'm in Oklahoma City near Lake Hefner. I used to live in far South OKC where the big tornadoes passed through. The one in 2013 demolished the house my ex-hubby and I built in 1990. He was home when the tornado hit...he got into the master bedroom closet. Thankfully he didn't have any injuries. Anyway, thanks for your videos. I enjoy them a lot! I've been thinking about joining the Ham Radio community. Take care!

    Did you lose power?
    I lose power every time we get a Hurricane in Louisiana.
    The Hurricane can be 50 miles away but the wind is so strong it knocks trees over to the power lines.

    • @hamradiocq
      @hamradiocq  3 года назад +1

      We did not lose power this time, but last winter the ice storm hit and we did lose power. Just depends on where the winds hit.

    • @hamradiocq
      @hamradiocq  3 года назад

      Hurricanes are bad too! Tornados are more concentrated and random. We do have a shelter and a lot of warning so I'm not too worried.
