  • Cuban Goes to Home Depot for FIRST TIME. His dream came true!! Watch Yoel, a Cuban man go into Home Depot for the first time!
Anytime Yoel would get asked what would be the first thing he would do when he went to the USA, he always said "HOME DEPOT". With resources so scarce for anything and everything in Cuba, Home Depot is a Cuban mans "Toys R US". It was his DREAM To come here, and today we did it!
Capitalism to Communism- Watch our journey entering the 21st century world outside of Communist Cuba.

My family is from Cuba, on my dad's side. He recently went down to Florida to welcome some family members that finally got out of Cuba and to the US. He picked them up from the terminal, and took them to some relatives in Miami. He took the three male cousins to home Depot because they all wanted to go. My father told me how the oldest one, (about 43) just sat down in an aisle and started crying. My father is pretty well off nowadays, and retired. He bought them each a laser level, tool bag, tool belt, and a whole set of hand tools. He then had each one pick out their own power tools (2 each) of their choice. Every year now, they send my father pictures of their tools, any new ones they've gotten, and the stuff they build down there. Those tools have helped not just those cousins, but everyone that lives around them, as well. The whole neighborhood has benefitted from just a couple of bags of tools and 6 DeWalt power tools. It is great to see Yoel's reaction to this. It is humbling to see the joy and wonder on his face. Beautiful!

I’m a 52 year old Cuban American man who came to the US during the Mariel boat lift as a kid of 10 years old. I couldn't stop crying watching this video. I know what is like to live in Cuba under communism and I know the feelings this you g man is experiencing for the first time. When I arrived at the US it was such a high, it lasted for a good 7 years until I got used to it. Just eating an apple for the first time, drinking a Coke, being inside a house with central AC, two bathrooms with hot and cold water, everything that worked, a color TV, stepping onto floor rugs, being inside a walk in closet, going to the toy store and the supermarket and seeing how neatly everything was arranged, just the way it was all ordered and no lines to wait in and being able to buy whatever you wanted … candy, chocolate bars, etc I was in complete awe and in heaven. It goes to show what the Cubans have been missing for over half a century because of communism which prohibits everything. There is absolutely no need to live in such a misery as the one that communism delivers. Totally unnecessary. Thank you for sharing this video. Too many Americans take these things for granted and even believe that socialism is the way to go and I know they are completely wrong. How could we Cubans not know that after what we experienced under communism? I appreciate this video so much pero ñooo como me hizo llorar como un niño.

I was just introduced to this channel by a short and it was about yoels first day of work and getting his first paycheck and I was amazed that he was so excited to PAY TAXES and it made me wonder what the hell is Cuba like? And I'm blown away by his reaction to the grocery store and now this so YES YOU SHOULD BE MAKING CONTENT LIKE THIS BECAUSE ITS TEACHING PEOPLE THAT HAVE EVERYTHING THEY REALLY WANT AND NEED TO BE GRATEFUL,I was shocked to see the stores in Cuba that I've been to prison here in the USA and I still lived better than a doctor in Cuba is amazing his reaction to the apples and the onion made me cry cause I know we in the USA have it so good and don't know it and I do appreciate what we are able to have my kids waste so much food I can't stand it and it's because of the fact that I know people are living like they are in Cuba it's really hard to believe Cuba is only 90 miles from Florida

In all the videos I've seen with Yoel, the heart-wrenching moment is when his amazement turns to sadness that they not only don't have such things in Cuba, but he cannot even buy stuff they need and take it back to his own family. The roofing paper and his mother, for instance. $50 could cover her roof and let her sleep in a dry place, it's RIGHT THERE in front of him, but there's no real way to make it happen. Those moments hurt the heart and create perspective.

Yes... from the wonderful film "Moscow on the Hudson." Robin goes into a supermarket and asks a clerk "where is line for coffee?" The clerk replies.... "There is no line. Go to Aisle 7 and Aisle 8." The things we Americans take for granted seem like miracles to some, and can be overwhelming for them.

My parents were lucky enough to be able to visit the United Kingdom from the Soviet Union in the early 1980s before the fall of the communism regime. On the first day, the friends they were staying with took them to a local, medium sized supermarket to look around. My mother started feeling dizzy after a while and had to sit down. Actually, Boris Yeltsin somewhat famously visited a grocery store in Houston during a break from visiting NASA. He talked about the impact it had on him in his autobiography. He felt that communism had done a great disservice to the citizens of the USSR, and it the variety of products, as well as their availability, really left a deep impression.

The arising theory is that there are certain steps civilizations must take before becoming visible as a galactic presence, and few or no civilizations have ever accomplished them. Talk generally concludes with speculation as to what these "great filters" could be, since we've never seen a civilization other than our own.
Except we *have* seen a civilization other than our own. Several, actually. Hundreds. We've documented their rise and fall over thousands of years, and we can examine what caused each to rise and each to fall.

I know that it can be overwhelming and emotional to experience the great distance that exists between two lands, that are so close in physical distance, but so far apart in the difficulty of living. Your videos, at least to me, remind me to not take for granted that we have access to a great multitude of products and resources that benefit our lives. It makes my heart ache that good people in so many places in the world have to struggle to just get by. The people of Cuba deserve better. I wish for you and Yoel all the best, and I hope that you don't stop making videos that remind us how lucky we are, and even more so, leave us with a feeling that we could and should share with others, some of the plenty with which we have been blessed .

@Jimmy Frost - I agree that many native-born have no idea how tough others in the world have it, and how much we take for granted. That's primarily due to the fact very few people in the U.S. even care to learn about other places. I actually know adults who have never left the state they live on. They live within 20-30 miles from where they were born. That's all they know. How can humans live like that?

People have more mobility now than ever before, yet I personally know 5 people who, not only have never left the state of Texas, but are geographically challenged when it comes to talking about foreign countries (correction, one moved here from Oklahoma). There simply is zero interest for people here in the states to lean about or visit foreign countries.
