Oh, wow! I can literally feel Chandler's pain as he holds back his comments to those funny things. It's practically physical torment for the poor guy. LOL!
You can see the truth of your observation when Chandler finally caves, unleashes the sarcasm he's been holding back, then let's out a deep, guttural sigh of relief. Holding back seemed as though it was physically hurting him, if not outright killing him a little as Phoebe noted.

Technically, the bet was that Chandler couldn’t make fun of “us,” meaning his friends, or that particular group of people. There was no rule stating he couldn’t make fun of other things or just topics in conversation, just no shots at Ross, Rachel, Joey, Phoebe, or Monica. That’s it!👍🏻

Technically, Chandler could have easily made fun of Ross’ dates name without losing, because she is a separate individual and not a trait of Ross, plus how would making fun the date’s name be making fun of Ross? And he can’t say “because I’m going out with her” then that means no one can make fun of anything without making fun of someone, because if you go deep enough, you can everything to everything is some odd way. I never understood why Chandler's career tanked after Friends. Dude is a comic timing God, his face, tone, emphasis on certain words, body language, absolute gold
He nailed his role in Studio 60, it is such a pity that the series was cancel later. He was wonderful in 2 serious movie roles, in Numb and Ron Clark. He is funny in Odd Couple too, lasted 3 seasons, but the script was not as good as Friends.
He is a one trick pony. He is basically playing himself and has no other depth in him. Becomes even more obvious once you read his autobiography. Although i wouldn´t recommend it because it´s not worth the money and the time and you see him with other eyes.
